How does your game represent "Power"?
In 2 ways:

- "Knowledge is power" - you, the player, become more powerful as you learn spells from books. If you know casting word, you can use it; this means your ability to use incantations is only limited by your ability to remember them - and how fast you can type them out. Your character may die, but your knowledge of the spells you used does not.
- Magical powers - not only are the spells themselves powerful, but many have more powerful variations which can be discovered as you explore the environment.

10/10! Having spells be typed out is such a clever mechanic and I love how spells get balanced by being longer and more complicated to type :) Super cute and clean art-style with very nice effects and the audio suited the game very well. All around it felt like a polished and fun experience. Excellent work!

I'm glad that you enjoyed the mechanics and the presentation! It's been very fun to design and make this game. Thank you so much for playing!

I am so bad at this game lmao

Developer

Haha well I hope you enjoyed playing it nonetheless! It's definitely a challenge for sure.

Developer

Every great wizard has felt this way at least once, not to mention this dungeon is especially dangerous! Thank you so much for playing!

That game is awesome. It got me spamming hot from the get go and I was hooked. Good job on integrating gameplay elements in the menu! The aesthetic and music were also on point. 10/10 Thank you.

I'm glad that you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for playing!

Very clever take on the theme. Fun to play. I found a one way path which I could pretty easily defend with "absolute zero" and "miaasma", although I ended up surviving only like 4 minutes, because I got a little careless. Loved the typing!

Developer

I'm glad that you had fun! Surviving for 4 minutes is not bad at all. Thank you so much for playing!

Really cute, love that the typing starts right from the menu

Developer

Of course! Everything in this game demands to be typed. Certainly makes the control scheme easy to explain

Another amazing game guys! Congratulations on a game that's beautifully presented, well tutorialised,  and quite challenging.

Developer

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed playing it :)

This was so awesome. I loved the typing mechanic. Such a good vibe. It would make a great full game!

Developer

I think you’re right! It feels like there’s a lot of potential to go further with this concept - glad you enjoyed it.

This game is really really well made and fun. such a unique concept and such a good execution. Great job!

Interesting concept, unique gameplay, solid visuals, well executed. Straight up fun. Good job. My favorite strategy was making an impenetrable zone with miaaasmas and unlimited powers.

Developer(+1)

Ohh that’s a good combo. Thank you for the kind words, it’s been fun learning how everyone plays this game.

HOTHOTHOTHOTHOT LEFT SHIFT UNLIMITED POWER HOTHOTHOTHOTHOT

For real, this is insanely cool and wonderfully presented. I had to keep playing just to find all the spells I could. You made me feel that crave for knowledge that wizards feel. Just super fun.

Nothing can't be solved by a good fireball or twelve! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and thank you so much for playing!

This is just incredible. The potential nuance of this system is just amazing and it was really fun to play and the excitement of knowing there were more powers to go learn and try out was really cool and really nails the feeling of knowledge is power which is sounds like is exactly what you were going for.

My favorite strategy was to spam "HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" and then when i was in trouble i could just add a "OT"

I also cannot believe you made it so players type the menu options and that they still work even when you are not in the menu and just playing the game. That is such a fun little gimmick and I'm so impressed you didnt have any issues with words typing into eachother (like hot into hotdog) since the typer automatically sends words once it detects one. And making left shift a speed boost was just amazing 10/10!

Developer

I'm so glad that you enjoyed it! I also like to stash half-completed words in the typing box for easy casting. "Knowledge is power" is indeed what we were going for, this extends even to the options, which only gives you knowledge on what words you can type to control music and sound volumes. Thank you so much for playing!

It felt hard to cast and move simultaneously until I discovered that I can infinitely type. So I was spam pressing "HOT" keys as fast as I could while running around. I had a long line saying "HTOHTTOTOHOHTOHTOH" but a couple of times per second I'd get a fireball in and that was pretty fun :)
I wish I could find some "HEAL" spell though. Maybe there is one, I just couldn't find it.

Also enemy spawn rate feels quite high at the moment, it didn't allow me to look at the surroundings or explore much.

Developer

That's an interesting strategy! I agree with you that enemy spawn rate, especially a few minutes in, can be quite high. This is something we can definitely do some balancing on. I appreciate the feedback, and thank you so much for playing!

Awesome concept and visuals. Game was hard for me to play on a small keyboard without arrow keys, but I am probably a minority. Still had a blast!

Developer

Glad you had fun despite the small keyboard, perhaps this is something we can accommodate for via an alternative control scheme in the future. Thank you so much for playing!

Really cool game overall! If you were to work on this further I think the game could really benefit from some balancing and QOL. It would be nice if spells you discovered were displayed on your screen somewhere. It would also be beneficial if spells had some kinda cooldown. Once I found 'Unlimited Power' I spammed it and it would stack each time I used it so every enemy would die before it could reach me. Really cool game though I had fun finding and using the different spells. Great work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for these suggestions, and I agree with all of them! Things like cooldowns, a spell list, and a mana pool were discussed, but we didn't end up implementing them due to time constraints, and is definitely something we could add if we were to continue to work on this game. I'm glad that you had fun, and thank you so much for playing!

Very cool idea and executed incredibly well!

I'm glad that you think so! Thank you so much for playing!

Very unique and fun game, great job! Had some slight perfomance issues playing on an older laptop but that couldn’t stop me from having a great time :D

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing the game (and having fun!) despite the performance issues.

This is so fun! Running around and trying to type is challenging but not in an overly frustrating way. Plus finding new books is super exciting, I only wish the powers were explained. Idk what miasma does, did it hurt me?

Maybe my favourite game so far! could play for a really long time

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Glad that you found that balance of typing/playing to be a fun challenge. We chose to not give away too much about what the spells do as we liked the idea that they needed to be used to undertand them. I see how that might've been confusing with the Miasma spell though; it's essentially just a poison cloud that enemies take damage from when they go through it.

Thank you so much for your kind words, it means a lot :)

Submitted(+1)

Very nice! The game feels very fluid and is a lot of fun.

Congrats!!

Developer

Appreciate the kind words, and thank you for playing!

The game is fun, the art is well chosen.  The fact that you need to manage typing, exploration and surviving, make its challenging which in turn make it more fun. Overall it was a fun experience.

Developer

Thank you so much for playing!
