Loved the twist on the theme. I love RPGs, but this just didn't have any depth, which is understandable, but the last two fights felt eternal, as animations were too slow and there was only one way of fighting, as far as I understood. Nice entry, loved the twist of the boss in the end, very RPGist. If only we could have started saving a small kitten.

How does your game represent "Power"?
My game is based on the saying "knowledge is power". There are also several other mentions of power throughout the game.

Awesome blend of RPG mechanics and trivia, definitely one of my favorite games this jam.
Really loved it! Besides sucking at responding the questions most of the times, it's quite a cool idea and great presentation!
Papayas also grow on a tree
Also the animation is so slow Iโm sleepy
Really fun and original concept! The art looks great and suits the game really well. Good job :)
Yeah, most of the people that have played the game have mentioned the speed of animations or pacing. ๐
I plan on fixing it in an update shortly after the jam concludes. Skipping the transitions/animations is a good idea too, I'll probably put an option in for that.
Thanks for playing! I'm glad you like the art and animations as I don't think of myself as much of an artist.
This was so fun! What a great take on a trivia game to blend it with RPG mechanics. The art is tight, the music fits the atmosphere well, and the story was cute. That last two-parter was certainly difficult when you didn't know all the answers, and it was a relief when you got the assistance there. I think I only encountered five trivia categories? And the only literature/arts question was about the Ninja Turtles, lol.
This is a great work given the timeframe. In an expanded version, I'd be interested in seeing a few more categories and the ability to walk your character around the levels between knowledge fights. I'd also be interested in seeing items you could find while exploring to aid you, perhaps? Maybe something like one item is a one time use and eliminates one choice. Maybe even a powerup-like item that gives your actions higher points healed/defended/attacked.
Nice work!
Wow, I'm glad you liked the game so much! Thank you.
Sorry that you only got 5 categories (there are 9 total) and some questions repeated. I programmed a tool so that questions wouldn't loop, but in my rush to upload the game last minute I forgot to turn it on. ๐
Your ideas for an expanded version are good too. The original concept was that the game was going to be more like Slay the Spire where you could play different trivia question cards that would give different effects/attacks. Alas, I didn't have time to do that sadly. If I ever do a full version I would definitely make the gameplay more interesting and flesh everything out a lot more.
I do plan on updating the game shortly after the jam is over to fix some things (pacing, audio, looping questions, etc). You're welcome to check it out again when I've done that if you want.
Thanks again for your comment, it means a lot. ๐
funny concept! the question about concord made me smile :) the animations are really too long, I want to turn on x2, and the music is a bit loud. But otherwise, a funny play on jrpg, good graphics, funny questions, cool!
Fun concept, but it played a bit too slowly with the animations. Especially frustrating if you get a few questions wrong in a row. But it looks very complete, good job!
Came for the ducks, stayed for the music.
The overall pace of the game could be a little more faster and exciting. But I enjoyed the presentation.
I love the style and sound effects, though the music was a bit loud. I got multiple repeat questions pretty quickly, but overall I think it was great!
I did actually create a filter of sorts to not repeat question, but in a rush to upload the game I forgot to turn it on ๐. I also didn't have a great deal of time to test the game, so there are a few bugs, spelling mistakes, and the audio isn't balanced like you mentioned. I'll update the game after the jam and fix all this.
Thank you for playing the game though, I hope you enjoyed it. ๐
The chiptune music is a banger with this one. The gameplay pace felt a bit slow because of the animations but apart from that, the idea was well executed! Thanks for the game!
Cute trivia game! I love the story line. Unfortunately I'm terrible at trivia. Would be nice if it indicated the right answer!
This game is so well presented! Love the art style, the animations, and the music!
