How does your game represent "Power"?
In 2 ways:
- "Knowledge is power" - you, the player, become more powerful as you learn spells from books. If you know casting word, you can use it; this means your ability to use incantations is only limited by your ability to remember them - and how fast you can type them out. Your character may die, but your knowledge of the spells you used does not.
- Magical powers - not only are the spells themselves powerful, but many have more powerful variations which can be discovered as you explore the environment.

Love this, it's like Mario Teaches Typing if it was good (I don't have many frames of reference for typing games lol). I don't think it was super clear that it's a survival game, I was looking for the end of the level in my first go around. Other than that little hiccup, this was super fun! I enjoyed spamming all my abilities. Great job!
It's actually my first time working on a typing game, and it was very fun to make! You are right that it would be good to make clear what the objective of the game is, perhaps as an additional popup. I'm glad that you enjoyed it, and thank you so much for playing!
Really awesome game and really polished as well! True power lies in writing 'power' a million times xD. Good job!
POWER actually received a nerf shortly before our submission, but it clearly wasn't enough! Glad you liked it, and thank you so much for playing!
This is awesome! You've put a whole new spin on grade-school typing speed games. Being able to call the later spells earlier on in the game once you've been far enough to read them is a wonderfully intuitive rogue-like mechanic.
I'm glad that you enjoyed it! Making the game knowledge-based was a key part of us following the theme. Thank you so much for playing!
super cute, I love the concept!
Thank you so much for playing!
Fun and well-polished game, great stuff!! I love knowledge-based games :)
I think having a clear objective for game jams can be great, and I think there's already a great one in here of finding all the spells which is what I focused on trying to do :)
Also this might just be me, but I would love a mode where I can move with WASD, and switch to typing by hitting something like space so that I could hit PEAK productive wizardry (which would work if everything was one word, so maybe a different key if you wanted two words like 'unlimited power' :))
O! And maybe a way to incentivize different spell usage? I felt like being able to spam the same spell led to me just typing the most broken one I knew of at that point repeatedly.
Overall had a lot of fun, thanks!
Thank you for the kind words, and I'm glad that you had fun! An option for movement with WASD is interesting, perhaps the enter key could be used to switched modes in this case? I will have to think about this more.
I agree that we will want to incentivise different spell usages more! We have tried to give each spell their own niche, but more balancing is needed from us before they can truly all shine! Thank you very much for playing!
Okay, this game is cute. The design is fun, the controls feel nice, and the music and audio suit it very well. It's also a creative interpretation of the Power theme. I loved learning new spells and the gameplay reminded me of a modern version of those typing games we would play as kids. If there was one negative, it would have to be that the enemy spawn rate felt rather high. They made it difficult to explore and could be a bit overwhelming, but maybe that's the point. Either way, great work to everyone involved!
It was fun to come up with the design, and I'm proud of our team for creating the environment and audio to match! I completely understand the feeling of there being too many enemies, especially later on, and I do think we need to balance the game some more after the jam. Still glad you enjoyed the game, and thank you very much for playing!
Holy shit a typing game, in my game jam? 10/10
EVEN THE MENUS GAWD DAMN
Glad that you enjoyed it, and thank you very much for playing!
Loved the concept of the game, but I didn't feel like I had a clear objective. Loved how committed you were to typping!
Thank you and that's understandable, we did not design an explicit goal other than to find more spells and survive. Still thank you so much for playing!
Very cool concept. I love that you committed to the concept by having to type the menu out as well. That's just nice :)
Also shoutout to FREEZE, a spell that's quick to type with one hand haha
FREEZE is a great spell to type on the go! And of course we had to go all in on the typing concept. Thank you so much for playing!
I was very bad at this, but the game looks gorgeous, and the mechanics were a ton of fun. Great work :D
Glad you enjoyed the game's looks and mechanics! The game is indeed challenging, especially a few minutes in. Thank you so much for playing!
ok that was fun
That might actually be the best time I've seen so far!! Insane. Nicely done :)
What better way to fit this jam by spamming “POWER POWER POWER POWER POWER”. This clears type racer in every way.
I love Typeracer, I had a phase where I was totally addicted to that game. An absolute pleasure to have Typomancer compared to it, thank you for the kind words :)
Very fun! I suck at typing, so hopefully this helps me :/ . Really impressed how polished it all looked! Also really like finding the hidden book!
I actually found myself getting better at typing as I played too. Glad you liked the secret book, there's a few little secrets hidden in Typomancer.
This was fun, nice work with all the different powerups and enemies. Easy to get into as well, no need for complex instructions, just move and type
I'm very glad you found it fun! I'm a big fan of simple mechanics too, as there is less to teach. Thank you so much for playing!
10/10! Having spells be typed out is such a clever mechanic and I love how spells get balanced by being longer and more complicated to type :) Super cute and clean art-style with very nice effects and the audio suited the game very well. All around it felt like a polished and fun experience. Excellent work!
I'm glad that you enjoyed the mechanics and the presentation! It's been very fun to design and make this game. Thank you so much for playing!
I am so bad at this game lmao
Haha well I hope you enjoyed playing it nonetheless! It's definitely a challenge for sure.
Every great wizard has felt this way at least once, not to mention this dungeon is especially dangerous! Thank you so much for playing!
That game is awesome. It got me spamming hot from the get go and I was hooked. Good job on integrating gameplay elements in the menu! The aesthetic and music were also on point. 10/10 Thank you.
I'm glad that you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for playing!
Very clever take on the theme. Fun to play. I found a one way path which I could pretty easily defend with "absolute zero" and "miaasma", although I ended up surviving only like 4 minutes, because I got a little careless. Loved the typing!
I'm glad that you had fun! Surviving for 4 minutes is not bad at all. Thank you so much for playing!
Really cute, love that the typing starts right from the menu
Of course! Everything in this game demands to be typed. Certainly makes the control scheme easy to explain
Another amazing game guys! Congratulations on a game that's beautifully presented, well tutorialised, and quite challenging.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed playing it :)
