I really liked the polish of the game, but the mechanics could do with some work. With recipes with N>2 ingredients, it was not clear which ingredients to mix with which in order to get the "intermediate" ingredients. There were some hints for the salad, but then it becomes utterly confusing, especially with the final boss. Should I be mixing those ingredients? Do I have the right ingredients? Is it the right ingredients I'm trying to mix? Should have put them all in the timer box? No idea!
Great atmosphere, really nice art, nice amount of content. I love the presentation of this one. The dialogue is both helpful and frustratingly confusing at the same time. I feel there were a few too many steps in some recipes, or at least, not enough helpful dialogue for the in-between steps. I know it probably feels like hand-holding to give too many hints but in this case I think it would have been justified. I got really stumped on the fact you could combine two of the same item, and that you could cook with the boiling water.
Nice polished game, hard to come up with the latter but a link to code is already posted on the comments! :-)
Very impressive amount of content! The slow text was slightly frustrating, but I could just be a little impatient :)
I love the different voices, especially the goblin's! The gameplay itself is quite fun, though it is sometimes very hard to guess the recipes. For the boss fight, it was not at all clear where to place the ingredients, the fact that the timer widget expands was not obvious.
A nice quality of life improvement would be if clicking again before the text has finished appearing instantly makes the rest of the line visible, instead of skipping to the next line of dialogue. As it was, I got impatient waiting for the slow text and started skipping all dialogue.
Thanks for playing our game! I completely agree with the text improvement, I was wanting that feature too while playing haha.
I didn't notice the ^ control on the timer until after time ran out, but it let me finish the recipe anyway, which was nice. Having a hover state on the target areas would be the key next bit of polish. (Also, fix the apostrophe in Gordon's refusal to repeat himself.) A sound when creating/acquiring a new ingredient also would be a good bit of polish. Well done!
I like it how it looks and feels. The gameplay requires quite a bit of lateral thinking and guessing. Overall a great idea!
Awesome looking game and quite unique idea. Great job!
I certainly struggeld quite a bit, but i enjoyed the idea behind the game
Love the dialogue and flavor texts!
