So, the core mechanics are just a basic paint-the-largest area thing. However, there are loads and loads of amusing events to keep the game interesting, though I'd prefer if large-scale events occurred only once at the beginning of point, or at least not just before the end - as it is now, a nicely painted area can go down the drain seconds before the point and then whoever is lucky enough to paint the most within these seconds will get the point.

Other than that, I really enjoyed the general aesthetic and variety of powerups. Took me 3 attempts to win on the default settings.

Thank you for the feedback! Yes, ongoing events during the score is defenitely something I'll tackle for the post-jam version (which I'm currently working on). I also plan to introduce more interactive events that can be played around (like the football and explosion event).

The Ai is pretty tough, atm. Difficulty 3+ is already tough to beat and 10 is pretty inhuman. I might fine-tune them some more, but overall I'm happy with having competetive AI to fill in for human players.

Very creative idea! I really enjoyed playing this!

This was fun and full of character!  All the events were really creative.

This was awesome! I loved the different stage-clearing themes you used! So creative! I just wish there were more controls :/ For some reason the only control that works for me is the 'S' key to turn. Would be much more fun if I had full 8-directional movement! Other than that great job! This was so fun!

Edit: Super fun now that my computer isn't being screwy with GM! :P

Developer(+1)

This can't be right. The S key isn't bound at all. The default controls are A and D to turn left and right, but you can change that to J,L / 4,6 / ctrl, alt / lmb,rmb or X/B on the gamepad. The reason for the minimal control scheme is to allow local multiplayer on one computer (most keyboards are capped in the button pressed they allow simultaniously. Also, controling the character well is pretty much the only real skill-check there is :)

Okay, I will try it again. It is very possible I had my gamepad plugged in and the left stick was sticking or something. I thought it was weird cause the player just kept moving and when I would press S it would start going in circles. haha. If I had to guess the S key was cancelling out one of the other controls? What's weird is when I pressed A/D it didn't seem to do anything. Could be some funky game maker thing too. I will try it out again! haha. Thanks! :D

Just tried it and it works fine with A/D now. I Unplugged the gamepad and it worked fine. Couldn't seem to re-create the issue. Not exactly sure what was going on. I'm running Win7 so it could be something with using an older OS. I've had the gamepad randomly start controlling my mouse cursor before with the right stick so.... lol. Thanks!

Developer(+1)

I will investigate the issue to be safe. THanks for the report anyway :)

Very fun and chaotic! A little unfair when a major event happens right before point, but I think that's part of the fun.

If only I had real friends to play with, but AI do pretty well themselves!

Developer

Actually, events only start at least 5 seconds before the scoring, but for some events (like rain) that's just not enough. I will definitely have a solution for this in the post-jam version

Ahh yeah rain was specifically the one that would take me off guard! Cause I'd be like... noooo my stuff! Haha I'll keep my eye out for it cause post jam version will be great!

This was a really fun game! The soundtrack with the spray bottle sounds was really cool. Definitely captured my attention when I first heard it. Loved finding out what the different power ups do. Unfortunately I could not play this with actual friends. The AIs were good and made me think: wow this would actually be a really fun game to play with friends. Events were awesome and made the game feel really fresh! Really nice job.

Very fun and arcady game ^^ I love the soundtrack with the spray bottle sounds! The events  were really funny too :D

Developer(+1)

Damn, that means a lot coming from you, your game was legit my favorite one in the Jam so far (together with Neon Impact)! Glad you liked the soundtrack, I have no musical experience and was really just winging it, but I gotta say I do like how it turned out myself.

I always love such  creative soundtracks :) Reminds me of my first gamejam where a friend of mine was doing the music and build a beat out of dog barking sounds^^

Very fun, even if I do suck at it! Would be great to play with more controllers - keep me in the loop of any updates!

Developer(+1)

I've already started overhauling the game into a post-jam version with less hacky code and and everything! We'll see where it takes me. If you're playing with just 1 friend and wanna lean back from the keybaord, what you can do is use a controller and the mouse and just use the mouse like a controller :)

Very fun and unique game, loved it! Well done!

These neon graphics blow me away! SUPER DUPER COOL!

Very fun! Surprised by how many different events you managed to add to it. Keeps it fresh for a while!

Developer(+2)

It's 17 total. Making them was a LOT of fun really, might add more after the jam :) glad you liked it!

Cool game, cool for the company =)

I know that most people browsing submissions for the game jam won't exactly have friends over to play it with, that's why I made it a priority to make good AI so single player feel worth playing too . Glad you liked it. :)
