Great idea and lore ;) It is also a quite fun platformer, good job ;)

Hey…. I played your game…. Seems really like we had similar ideas altogether… Very nice work and pretty cool levels… Absolutely loved it… One thing, I personally love challenging puzzles so maybe a little bit of challenge would have been fun… But nonetheless, this really was a jack in the box… Keep it up… :)

Cool concept and looks decent! Plays well but then I did get stuck at one point where I couldn't jump and sticky keys kept messing me up. I'll try figure it out. Well done!

Very fun! The design is very cool!

I realy liked the music, so I was almost disapointed that the levels were too short too listen a bit more ^^

The jumps felt a bit weird though. Maybe the character was going back too quickly ? I don't really know :/

Developer(+1)

I agree. Theo did a really good job composing the music.

I had fun, I beat the game!

I'm not going to lie, I almost quit playing the game because it did not occur to me that you could break the rule boxes. Maybe next time don't put the ledge just out of the players reach in the no jumping room. I thought the true way to beat it was to jump and dash before touching the laser.

You could make this into a full game. Polish up the combat and make the player a little less floaty.

Wow this was exceptional! I really like the way you had to interact with the rules boxes, and I thought myself very clever when I shot an off-screen rules box while floating above the exit. And then the game adds another way to interact with the rules boxes mid-way through! The level design was well done in how it guided me to learn the rules one at a time. My only critique would be that the platforming felt a bit stiff. For example I had trouble jumping over a waist-high wall while standing next to it. Other than that, top marks!

Developer(+1)

I definitely need to work on the platforming mechanics. Glad you liked the game.

After 20 minutes of playing I made it to the rooftops. This game has a good bit of personality and you made me want to play more. Maybe I'll give it another go to finish it later.

One thing that was not really obvious to me was the physical interaction of the rules box.

Other thing that made loose a bit of time was in the level where you have to dash over a long pit, the walljump wasn't really intuitive for me. When I had to walljump to direction reversal I always wanted to change direction before jumping and making me stop the wallslide and fall.

Developer(+2)

Our composer had the same thought about  physical interaction with the rule boxes being clearer. I tried putting one in that would make it more obvious, but I guess it didn't work. Might change that for a future update. Hope you do finish the game some day. Thanks for the feedback.

This game has a lot of character. Overall well done in all aspects. The difficulty was pretty appropriate for me. I think polishing up the controls a little might improve it even more; I died a few times by dashing too far, so being able to cancel the dash would help. Maybe being able to grab the edges of platforms, too. I really liked the design of the two characters.

Developer

Looking back, I probably should have allowed cancelling of the dash. Controls could use polishing, but I'm not exactly sure how to programatically do it. Wish I had Celeste programming skills. Thanks for the feedback, though.

Love how the chat box looks and how the text appears. Wall hopping feels a bit tedious because each time you jump off the wall the character moves too far away from it in my opinion. Aerial movement is limited. Only way to change effectively is with the dash. Making the player start the entire level from the beginning upon death feels a bit harsh. Perhaps some checkpoints? I found myself having trouble with sections where the rules that applied to the character were off screen, resulting in having to completely stop on new sections to press all the buttons to make sure which ones work. Great idea about breaking the rules quite literally.

Developer

I thought about putting in checkpoints, but we decided the procedurally generated levels would not have them so we would keep everything consistent. I tried making the initial nine levels relatively short for that reason. I agree with you on the wall hopping. Need to adjust that better. Thanks for playing.

Thank you! My favorite parts to design in this game were the city background and Zarmeuth.

As soon as I saw that walk cycle, I knew I was in for a ride. Good game!

Developer(+2)

Our artist thought the walk cycle looked a bit funny. That's actually why I liked it. Thanks for playing.
