Description of the game
I didn't follow the "At the edge" theme to focus on the adaptive music.
As for the "Adaptive music" part:
- When collecting musical notes, a melody plays on an upbeat dance beat.
- Enemies cue their attack with the bass drum of the song!
Message from the creator(s):
Controls:
Arrows or ASDW for movement
Press [Z] or [J] for slowdown
Hold [X] or [K] to go faster
Press [C] or [L] to stop your momentum
[Z] or [J] to skip the title screen / splash screen and the game over screen
I couldn't do a web build unfortunately, it was laggy!
Windows seems pretty stable but when debugging, I sometime stumble upon a desync or a choppy song. Try resetting the game if this happens.
macOS gives me an error, I'll check why.
Sorry for the inconvenient !

I love it! The visuals, the music, the gameplay, it all adds up together really well. The visuals are vivid and the animations of the red tiles going across the screen/exploding are very smooth which makes candy for the eyes (reminds me of Just Shapes & Beats ^^). The music is also a bop, really love the sound when the red beams are going to shoot/explode!
One thing I'm quite frustrated of though is the controls. Maybe it's just with my system but almost every time I need to spam the button to change direction because pressing it one time almost never works for me. It's also really frustrating when I need to turn to avoid a red square but the thing won't turn lol.
Overall really good stuff! Great job!
Had so much fun with this one. Loved the use of Adaptive Music. Here's a link to my playthrough https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1180728448?t=00h47m13s
Thank you !! I watched the VOD with my wife yesterday
I'm glad you enjoyed.
I'll push an update after the jam to fix the input issue and I'll do an online leaderboard too.
I have a bucket list of features too for the future (new enemies, power ups, palette change, etc). Feel free to check it out in the future!
That's awesome! I'm looking forward to it!
OMG! That was great -music implementation, gameplay, controls, graphics, everything!. I loved the idea how music works, I was stunned right away but when the high note for square explosion occurred it was a blast- the best part for me <3 Congrats
Hey thanks ! Thank you for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed :)
Very impressive! Not only well polished and fun, but also the whole game is built around the music (which itself is great as well). Everything is synced! My favourite part is the high-pitched sounds the explosion make. Keep it up :)
Thank you for playing! Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed! It was the first time I created a song for a game (I have a bit of experience with music but not much). I'm super happy with the results
I don't have access to a Windows PC at the moment, but I watched a video of the gameplay on YouTube and it has a really nice and polished presentation as well as what looks like a fun challenge. :)
I'll try to do an HTML and Mac build after the jam. I was having issue and I think I need to optimize some stuff to run more smoothly on a web browser.
Feel free to check it out when it's updated :)
Wow this is really impressive!!
The audio is really great!! The audio cues that come before the traps, the lead melody that is played when collecting notes, the change that you get once you reach your last life... damn is it good! Collecting notes feels really satisfying.
Also, as everyone else said, gameplay and level design work very well, and the graphics makes it satisfying to look at.
Congrats!
Thanks! I appreciate!
I like your game too. Not my usual genre, but I enjoyed the story and the attention to details :)
Really nice game, the game was really creative and I like how the audio always syncs when you collect notes, the only issue I had was getting all the notes without breaking out of rhythm? I'm not sure if that's really a problem but I had thought you could collect notes by following a continues path without breaking.
Thanks for the feedback :)
I could try to increase the amount of time before the melody stops after collecting a note.
thank you for playing :)
I join everyone here in congratulating the devs of this game. The gameplay is excellent, the level design is successful, and the whole audio aspect is a perfect balance between adapting to what is happening on the screen. and a wonderful and pleasant rendering. The whole is extremely dynamic and original. A project that has everything of a pro game, with all the care given to the various details. A lot of fun to play. Well done !
Thank you for playing!
Thanks for the feedbacks as well :)
The AUDIO! The POLISH!
Amazing job, my only frustrations would complaints would be turn input being wonky sometimes, and I feel like lasers could have used some a little more visual telegraphs.
But wow how you tied everything to the music, made it feel so nice and wonderful to play
Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate!
I will fix the movement for sure after the jam. I got used to it during development and didn't notice anything after a while :P
Thanks for playing
Really nice level of polish on the presentation! Gameplay is fun, my only complaint was that I was having some issues with my input not registering sometimes, making it a sort of dicey situation when it came to making tight turns.
Audio is great. the tune is a good 'un. Loved how the lasers and bombs are telegraphed with the music, it works really well!
Thank you for the feedback and thanks for playing!
I understood afterwards what I did wrong for the inputs. I'm checking for inputs when the character is in the middle of the tile, so anything pressed before that is not registered. I will fix that in an update after the jam!
