The retro graphic aesthetics are what I think I did best

presentation is great, I like the models, the combat and the weapon modifications based on the kirby-looking character. I also thank god everyday that you didnt make cursed kirby feet for the foot powerup.

It is a fun sandbox to mess around with different weapons and movement styles to just go around wrecking angels. The progression at the front feels better than the late game progression, which is just a grind. The UI menus also probably couldve also be mixed together into one area, but it was a minor thing.

I like the dithering on this one and also just now notice its supposed to be like the windows background

The end scene was totally serious and totes aberrated. Congrats on the release!

Nice Game!  I really like the aesthetic.  Watching the ball guy's body change when you equipped new arms or legs was really cool!  I do feel like I would have liked to spend my money without needing to die.  I also think the enemies might have taken a little too long to kill.  Other than that, the game was great!  That ending was pretty spooky!

there are 3 layers of menus before starting the game. they all serve a purpose in some way, but it’s a bit silly. redundancies aside, the menus are very functional and feature-rich, it’s clear that a lot of effort went into them. there’s even a fully-featured save system, how neat!

when it comes to the gameplay itself, it’s rather grindy — some players might be into that, but I found it a bit tedious. there’s no real challenge here, so I kept dying on purpose to access the shop in order to speed things up. the shop was definitively the highlight of this game for me. there are lots of different things to buy with different effects on stats and looks, it’s just unfortunate that the core gameplay is not that engaging. I think this could be a great game if the core mechanics were improved (and tedium reduced), as there’s definitely an interesting foundation here.

great retro aesthetic by the way, you really nailed that. where’s RetroBall 1 though??

This was really fun, I like the presentation a lot. You end up getting pretty powerful once you grind for a little while. I also enjoyed the little sequence at the end once you kill everything.

I think a little more variation in the enemies would be good, and I think the shooting weapons could use a little love, they all felt generally the same and a little underpowered even at max level. Overall one of the better entries I've played, would love to see it developed into a full version.  I've certainly spent far more time playing far inferior games.

I didn't notice that you could damage towers till the very end where no other enemy left. It was fun though.

Developer

Thanks for trying it out!

The enemy counter on the top right should have given a hint that those can be destroyed too ;)

Dude, AWESOME. The gameplay is pretty rudimentary but the visual style and upgrade system are super cool. I love watching my little kirby ball turn into an absolute abomination, I need a full version yesterday.

Developer

XD thanks, that was the Idea I was going for, making the kirby ball go super weird

Aesthetics is incredible, you nailed the presentation with the retro vibe! Character changing shapes and weird looking creatures adds a lot to this. The metaprogression with the upgrades and saving the enemy count was also an interesting idea.

Though I wish you put more effort into the enemy design, since every enemy in this game can be safely killed by shooting the laser gun outside their range. I think there should be extra enemies to counter the ranged weapons, so the left-right hand system could achieve its full potential.

Developer

I totally agree. I won't get into a ramble about how the development was, but yeah I admit thats the least improved area of the game. Thank you for playing!

Hi! I was intrigued by the art, so I decided to play the game. The concept is awesome! A game overran by weirdcore creatures? interesting! a game with semi hack n' slash combat, retro graphics, and upgrades with visual differences! WOW! For a game jam game? crazy!! I went and played it and here's my thoughts: This game looks really nice, the UI is great, the upgrades are cool... but there is an issue: This game doesn't have tons to do. I understand why, too. There was clearly a lot of effort put into the graphics, and the weapons system. However, the game itself lost some content to it. When getting to the mid-game, the gameplay felt balanced enough, but the early game felt a tad bit slow, and the late game felt a bit too easy. a consistent issue was that I would not know when I was hurt by the enemies, which was a bit confusing. Overall, this game has so much potential, with some incredibly cool ideas, well made UI, and really cool graphics!!... but with gameplay that leaves something to be desired. (Honestly I really only have an issue with the gamplay, really sorry if this sounds too harsh, gamedev is hard :))

Developer

I agree 100% with you. I spent more time doing UI stuff (because i was having fun) and left the gameplay for later, which was my downfall lol

Thank you for playing though, really appreciate it

You're welcome, I saw this game has 0 ratings and wanted to give it a little boost! Good that I wasn't too harsh :)

As well as this, I'd say try to improve upon it, 'cause those ideas are awesome!
