  • Hey Veno ! :) Very very impressive. I didn't see past the 27min i played your game. It was really good. Everything is very well made, graphics, gameplay, there is secret to discover for the curious, the story is cool and make us want to know the truth, the difficulty is balanced, and there is very cool features, collecting food to get extra life, unlocking usefull skills... If i had to point thing to improve, it would be the combat boss, which is very easy. I think it move too slow. You just had to put the character in the bottom right corner after the two line of spikes, and the boss will kill himself alone, since he don't move fast enough to dodge the spike (even at the end when he speed up). Also, the brutal ending. "Hey, hey, hey, you cannot go further, pick the complete game." It was a weird place to put this ending, i would rather put it after the first boss. But i had to say it was fitting well the time limit, since i took 27min to go there. But anyway, it's really not important. Really, great job Veno, i really enjoyed your game. Thank for that, and see ya :D ! Drag
  • Wow! What can I say? Incredible. The story is intriguing and compelling and artfully done. There's plenty of it, but in such nice bite size pieces that it doesn't become overwhelming. The ways you pushed the limits of what is given with the engine and available plugins is inspiring, you've effectively proven that a beautiful game can be made out of default assets. The game didn't lack in game play and it was well done, it felt smooth and bug free. This is a great example of a game at any level. Good job! (Should I ever work on a team to develop a game, I would be thrilled to call you a colleague)

Wow! By far one of the best games in competition! The story is very interesting! The game is totally off-charts for RPG Maker standards! Let's get to the points I've noticed:

- Ok, there is something that really bothers me about Omni and I HAVE to point it out. Because the game is about escaping a cell with a drone checking in my cell and red coat people discouraging me to go forward early on, I thought it was a stealth game. As a result, I avoided any further contact with them, fearing they would attack me,  send me back to my cell or get a game over. However they're harmless and I missed a bunch of information because of it. But why would I interact with them if they don't show trustworthy right at the beginning?

- Sometimes, after taking a teleporter, I get jumped by a zombie without having the time to react.

- During the boss fight of the 1st floor, if you get killed and the boss die, you can get a game over despite having your hearts restored.

- Having my path blocked by some NPC telling me to go get the extended version of the game is pretty anti-climactic. This game would have won to end after the first boss and simply tease the complete version.

Anyway, despite that, great job on this entry and good luck for the game jam! ^^

Almost better than my game.

Honestly probably one of the best games of the jam. The mapping was strange, but worked in the mind hall that you seemed to be trapped in. The story had a very interesting premise and I'd love to delve deeper and find more. Honestly I played on easy and had a hard time, I feel like the reaction mechanics on this are not well suited to rpg maker, but it was still very well done.

Heya! Don't know if you saw this yet (been busy so I might have lost track), but we did a high level overview of your Game Jam entry last week. Here is a link to the video if you want to see what we have to say:

Wow, this game is good! 1st place contender for sure. I might even play the full game some day.

This game is great. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I liked the way you presented the story in a natural way and didn't just info dump the player at the start or just straight up tell them what was happening. What you managed to make with the RTP is very impressive. Overall it seems you were going for a more serious and mysterious tone for the game. As such, I thought that the joke about the doctor never using a cellphone again was a bit out of place. It completely shifted the tone from mystery to comedy and I couldn't tell if I was still supposed to be taking the game's world seriously anymore.

Also, I didn't have any lag in my playthrough (some other players have mentioned that they have). But my PC is fairly decent so maybe that had something to do with it. I wish there was more of an ending to the game but I guess that will be in the full version. Regardless, I gave you max marks in all categories despite any of these small critiques I could give.

Thanks for the critique! The Cutscene will be polished and make more sense as the backstory for the game develops. I plan to have omni updated soon to post-jam polish with the complete 2nd floor (within the next week).

Thank you for the kind words!

Pure epicness. Such a fun game. Just as fun to play as it was to listen to Drifty yell everytime he casually ran through dangerous areas with out even trying to "time it".

High marks, and I can't wait to watch the "how you did it" video Drifty was saying needed to happen with this one!

Developer

Thank you so much! I was laughing so much at how he plowed through the sledges because I do the same thing when I'm testing. 😂

If anyone is having a lag spike that comes out of nowhere, hold shift, then hold L (make sure you hold shift first). After a few moments it will reset all systems. I guess I still have some fine tuning to do.

Edit: Also the fog can be intensive for some computers, turning it off in the options can help a lot.

Ok, by now I know you like 1)Sci fi 2)Neon colors 3)Bald characters XD XD

I think this might be my favorite.  The UI is still flashy but less complicated. Didnt find ANY prioners to free hahaha. Really fun my only complain is that after some levels it starts to lag  and since it is a game for precision, it gets frustrating at times.

The rest, wonders!

Thank you! I sure do love scifi and neon colors - bald people require less haircuts.  😂

Turning off fog (in options) can help, also holding Shift + L (hold shift first) can reset the systems if the lag piles up too bad.

Edit: oh and prisoners will be in the next version on my website (within a week) ,  I didn't get a chance to impliment them  for the submission, you first encounter them in 2-3.

I wasn't able to complete the game (I stopped on 2-2, perhaps halfway or so through when I ran out of Continues), I'll go more into detail below.
This is really impressive, and there's some things I'd be quite interested to learn how you accomplished.  My only complaint is that some of the maps were really laggy for me (1-4, 2-1, and 2-2). I think all the maps that had multiple Sledges on it were the ones that were laggy for me.

That being said, there is a lot of creativity on display. I'm especially curious as to how you got the animations scrolling across the screen (in both the title screen and the game in general) and how you got the animated "Driftwood Gaming 2020 Game Jam" bar on the title screen. Honestly everything to do with the UI is impressive.

I like how you were given a hint as to how to defeat the first boss, but the player is still left to figure things out for themselves.

Going through the first floor gave me faint memories of playing through some of the dungeons in the Ys series - which has a handful of really cool dungeons.

Developer

Thank you so much! I'm glad you were able to make it that far despite lag. The feedback really helps me to understand what worked and what didn't. You got right near the end, 2-2 is as far as classic version goes.

Beautifully crafted by Veno, as usual and a treat to play. I'm in awe of how much can be done with the default images.

Thanks man, it's appreciated!
