Nice platformer. The underwater aesthetics work well and it controls like you're actually underwater. That being said I never learned to pull off the impulse jump consistently but I did beat the game. Lovely pixel art and animations!

Developer

Thank you for playing and for your feedback! I realized that the impulse mechanic is confusing for many people, my bad on that.

Loved the art. Loved the game. Great fun.

It did take me a while to get used to up arrow for down, and down arrow for a jump boost. But otherwise, solid game. Nice work.

Good luck with the jam.

Developer

Thank you for your words and feedback! I should have made the impulse mechanic more intuitive, haha.

Fun and well polished!

Thank you! ^^

Fun game! A bit hard - and not a find of a few blind-jumps, but great work overall. Levels were well thought out, and checkpoints were placed at the places where tricky stuff was found. Good job!

Thank you for your feedback! ;D

Very fun game! 10/10! I needed two people to play in hard mode... If you want you can play and rate my game too: https://itch.io/jam/-pixel-game-jam-2024/rate/2718966

This is an awesome platformer. I played thru normal and hard mode and had a great time. Some of the last jumps on the last level on hard were really tough, but the checkpointing is pretty nice so I wasn't having to redo too much which was very nice. The art all looks great, I like the design of aquabot. I like the boost mechanic, but it took me a bit to figure out that you want to use it at the start of your jump to maximize how high it sends you, it'd be nice if it was more consistent so you know for sure how high pressing the boost button will send you. I think the control scheme is a little weird, I prefer to use arrow keys for movement when I play platformers so it was kind of a bummer that down on the arrow keys was the boost button. I think it'd be a good idea to set a maximum fall speed as well, there's a lot of blind drops in this game and once the player starts falling really fast you don't have any time to try and avoid obstacles.

This is awesome tho, I had a great time playing thru it!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! I agree with most of your statements. When I noticed the blind drops, it was too late to do something about it, so I let it through haha.

This is an amazing and fun platformer. Well balanced (I played on Normal) with nice working mechanics that are both well responsive and smooth.

Honestly a job well done through out and this is one to keep an eye out ^^

Thank you for the kind words and feedback! ;D

This was a fun platformer! The art and animations were all really nicely done, especially the character sprite, I liked the jump and impulse animations a lot. This game was very exacting, and I thought the controls were exacting to match. It was satisfying and fun to learn the sprint+jump+impulse move. I also really appreciated how the restart point would move as the character moved through the level, which cut down on infuriating runbacks and also made dying sometimes the fastest way to get back to where you want to go.

I did think that the spike colliders were diabolical, though that was probably intentional. Where my problem with that comes from is the number of blind drops you have to do. The third level was especially brutal with how the camera was also obscured. I think maybe giving the player an ability to brighten or stabilize the camera for a few seconds (maybe using the Pearls as a limited use resource?) would have been nice. I did make it through to Hard Mode, so it wasn't impossible though. But Hard Mode...oh boy. I could only make it through the first level before I had to surrender.

Really great work on this game, especially as a solo dev. Keep it up!

The pearls idea is actually genius! And yeah,  one of my current problems is measuring difficulty and handling those blind drops when designing these types of games.

Thank you for your feedback! ;D

I like this game's mechanics. The robot seemed a little slow at first, but with all the jumps/accelerations, it's top notch

Developer

Thank you! :D

Pretty fun game with relaxing environment and challenging difficulty.

If i have to say something bad it is that the mechanics need some more refinement.

Keep the good work!

cute platformer, the water effects over the pixelart graphics adds a nice touch and the blueish vibes makes me think of animal well

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you, I had to experiment with shaders for the water effect haha.
