Porn was posted 😥

Moderator

Yeah, sorry about that. As of this writing it's basically impossible to moderate #general on the server.

(+32)

Serves you right.

(+21)

The reason seems pretty obvious.

(+19)

This is what Itch.io has earned.  Wake up.

(+1)

Hi can what get a formal announcement on that is happening with NSFW games?

Moderator(+1)

Yes, this just dropped: https://itch.io/updates/update-on-nsfw-content

Thank you!

(+18)

Hey gang! Pretty shameful behavior, you've just screwed over hundreds of indie artists, often queer and/or otherwise poor artists. You've permanently scarred your reputation with indies and lost yourself a fair chunk of revenue, and for what? You could've chosen to have a moral backbone, and to stand by your users!

The only shot you have at remedying this is to undo your actions. You'd also better not have removed access to the things people have already bought, considering that that would be a violation of Australian Consumer Law AT MINIMUM, regardless of any T&Cs. I'd advise that itch.io leadership take these considerations seriously, because by god other companies have lost so much over similar errors.

(+4)

Gee I can't Imagine why it's almost like you did somethin WRONG!!!!

(+1)

It's probably a form of protest because you're banning what a lot of your customers liked.

(+4)

I know everyone's angry about this. I'm very disappointed about what's going on too, but being civil would be way better than breaking the server's rules!

(+32)

Shadowbanning people's content isn't civil.

(+15)

Oh yeah. It's never acceptable to be rude to rude people. We must show the utmost respect to the disrespectful. That'll show them.

(+24)

This ban disproportionately affects queer and trans creators who rely on Itch to pay their bills, so no I will not fucking be civil about this

(+5)

People like me who make stuff mostly for straight men need to NOT BE FUCKING CIVIL EITHER!

If you like my stuff and you're taking a nap right now because your think your favorite comics filled with big bazongas are safe, then wake up, ya damn fools. After they take down the LGBTQ+ people, they're coming after us next. Get on the front lines or you might find yourself in retreat.

Call Visa, Mastercard, Stripe and Paypal. Call Congress. Talk to your friends. You kids are the ones who know all this social media crap. Go use it!

I saw these bastards go down in 1945 and I'll see 'em go down in 2025.

Never forget! They're the weirdoes. They're the perverts. They're the ones who hate women and happily endanger children. We're the normal ones, the hard workers, the families, the good neighbors and decent people. We believe in the American Way, not them. Don't believe otherwise.

(+16)

There's absolutely no reason to be civil when customers are getting their ability to download a delisted game removed and sellers are getting their accounts frozen with absolutely ZERO prior communication.

(2 edits) (+17)

Fuck off with the civil bullshit.

This pacifist crap is why the world has gotten to become this shit filled bull sack that it did.

The idea of non-violence is the most successful propaganda ever, it only exists to keep the masses docile and easy to control.

MasterCard and Visa would be a lot less bold if there were more guillotines around, for one.

Big words for a basement dweller who’s been too busy jerkin off since 2019.

kys

(+7)

Now that I understand how absolutely terrible the admins' responses were (a damn shrug emoji wasn't going to cut it!!!), I think there was a justification for rioting in the Discord after all. Especially given how the shadowbanning (and outright deletion) of NSFW content without any warning hurts the trust that even us SFW creators have in itch.io. So yeah, my initial thoughts on this were indeed wrong.

(+5)

Then itch should pay people their goddamn money.

(+3)

Absolutely.

(+8)

Everyone I don't think posting porn in a public server where it cannot be properly filtered is the best course of action nor is endorsing this sort of behavior. Real fighting back is working together against the root problem which appears to be Mastercard and Visa.

(2 edits) (+4)

then fix your filter issues. its pretty simple to do to. the problem here is that we got groups of people who are trying to tell grown fking adults what they can and cannot buy. If "Porn" is a problem then maybe we should take away abortion, condoms and the morning after pill and fix the population crisis we be havin. oh, and women actually grow a fking brain would help to and stop being selfish gold digging losers.

(+1)

Don't give them ideas, please.

why you might actually get laid for once.

(+3)

Chill, I was agreeing with you lol. The people pushing for this kind of crap really would push for that.

(+1)

probably it would be on their level. they're already sticking their nose up our asses. would be nothing to reach up and flick our balls too.

I am unsure how you think Discord works in terms of filtering images or what half your message is supposed to be saying to be quite honest.

(+5)

For the sake of working together to try and get something done, here is the ACLU petition: https://action.aclu.org/petition/mastercard-sex-work-work-end-your-unjust-policy

I have been keeping an eye on it since Steam first started taking down some of it's NSFW games and the petition has skyrocketed by thousands of signatures since what has gone down here on itch in some hours alone. As of typing it is at 82,000 and growing rapidly.

(+2)

What happened!? A lot of my stuff got deleted or suspended

(+11)

Itch caved to the bigots. That's what happened.

(+15)

To everyone wondering what's going on, Visa and Mastercard threatened to end service with both Steam and Itch.io over adult content that is generally speaking legal.  Basically, our rights are being trampled on by payment processors.

(+9)

Aditionally, it was puritanical a-holes from  my country, Australia. Collective Shout, who were behind the same thing on Steam, are based in Taylor's Lakes, Victoria.

(+4)

I cannot think any way this ended up well. Its going to be hell. They messed up with the internet.

ITS F WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(+4)

they really have no right.

(+3)

just why? i thought they like money

(+2)

Cause they hate men. Just that
