Ok i'm not understanding this i dont know what the problem is, people are viewing my game but im not getting notifications that theyre downloading the demo and no one is buying it dispite the promo posts getting lover 100 total views. If anyone can go the this link https://star700.itch.io/neverheart and tell me if you can buy it that'd be great, you dont even have to fully buy it, just tell me if you can get to the buy page. I just wanna know if i put something in wrong or something cuz the insights app has the "can be bought" thing with an X.

It does appear that we could buy the game if we wanted to.

It's not unusual for people to view a game and:

  •  not download the demo
  • not to buy the game.

I doubt it has anything to do with the game itself.

Rather it's probably the target market that views games on itch.io.

It's why you'll notice so many threads here about marketing games - and marketing them elsewhere to drive the traffic here.

(For example, before I deleted my devlogs, one of them had about 250 views without a single click-through to the game page, or anyone downloading the free demo.)

It's unlikely to be a problem with itchio and I've checked the link- it's fine. The best and most simple thing you can do to improve your downloads is work on your game description, as it's full of English mistakes (e.g. 'along side' is usually one word, 'deadly magics' doesn't take an 's'). This is going to put off a lot of players wanting an adventure game/ RPG with strong dialogue and characters.

Your game's thumbnail image, on the other hand, is very good and likely to attract people. It might be worth finding a proofreader- ideally for the whole game. Simply doing a spellcheck on Word or something will fix a lot.

Just looking at your game page, you may need to tweak the page graphics a bit. See: https://itch.io/docs/creators/design

You have some good images of your game letting people see it being top-down with exploration themes.

It's also a .exe meaning that it's for Windows. Might be helpful to tag the operating system being used as well. Some people might be clicking to view your game but only running on a Mac, or using a smartphone, or wielding Linux.

You have some text about the protagonist's relationship with other characters. Perhaps you could comunicate that angle in your display a bit more.

Your cover image is of a book with writing in it. Nowhere in your display can people see how it relates to your game. They may be feeling duped into clicking on an empty promise. (The promise that your cover image was applicable to your game.)

Also, is everything top-down, or do you have assets of the character's faces? Something in the game in a different presentation style? If the environment/level of the game changes, it might be helpful to have an animated GIF as well.
