Sorry for the trouble, we're in talk with the people now to get the issue resolved. It appears to be related to an email mismatch, and the error message being shown is incorrect. Could you make sure you enter the same exact email address you have on file for your itch.io account? I've added additional instructions to the tax information page.
And like the others before me: I am using the right address. I tried it several times and the only thing I am getting is this error:
The valid characters are alpha, numeric, blank, ampersand (&), hyphen(-), comma (,), apostrophe(’), forward slash (/), pound sign (#), and period (.)
Edit: It worked now. Apparently my name was the problem, because it contained a "ß". This form is so stupid... -_-
Sorry, I'll try to make a note on the interview start page about special characters in names. We reached out to the people who provide the tax system about this issue and they said that the IRS's system does not allow non-ASCII characters when doing a digital submission. Your best bet is to use the closest character as possible. It's most important that your tax identification number is correct.
The hint about special characters should help a lot. What would also be a great addition is if they highlight the field in which they encounter an error. That way I would have known it was about my name and not the email address.
By the way how long does it usually take after doing the interview that I see the result in my itch.io profile?
