hi name twin! really enjoyed playing this. it's really cool as is, and no doubt could continue to grow with some balancing and new features. i definitely think having more incentive to shoot the enemies would be good, as they're pretty easy to just run around and just keep the gun aimed at yourself the whole time. the whole "running around the circle" bit can be a bit boring. adding more enemies types, and just more enemies in general, would definitely fix that. but overall, the feature of risk vs. reward with choosing your bullet order in the gun is a really neat mechanic. not to mention the visuals are top notch. obviously a few default unity UI elements still that don't look great, but that's to be expected for a game jam entry lol. the pixel shader is really cool, and the sanity vision works well with it. i look forward to seeing where this game goes if you continue to develop it!
such a cool concept! it took me a little while to figure out that i could double jump in the first level, but i had a great time playing. i finished the last stage and wanted more levels to play, which is a great sign. the addition of right mouse dash makes controlling a lot easier. really excellent puzzle platformer— hope to see you expand on it if you continue development!
Super cute! The idea of combining a restaurant management game with a farming game is really interesting. I did struggle to figure out how to play the game a bit, so I think that adding a more integrated tutorial would be better than some dialogue at the start that tells you everything at once. I also was having trouble figuring out what the controls were, so some on-screen UI that tells you what different keys do would be very helpful. (The jam entry Grim Farm did this and it helps a ton; I'll probably add it to my own game as well.) I think different key mapping would help too, like left and right click instead of Q and E, and using <> to switch items is a bit strange because you have to move your hand around on they keyboard. I would recommend just using number keys for item switching.
That being said, I'm very intrigued to see where this game goes if you continue to update it. The UI and art looks really really good already and there's certainly a great cute/casual aesthetic you're hitting. With a few quality of life and bug fix updates, it will be a very fun game worth playing for hours. Where the game is now, I would recommend focusing on those core features before adding more features and complexity. Good luck!
Thank you for the respectful response. To clarify, I think that leaving feedback on games is totally fine and even enouraged, for both positive and negative feedback. It's just important to make sure you're still phrasing the negative stuff nicely and keeping in mind the context behind the game's development. I appreciate your response :)
Thank you for the input! I've slightly updated the interaction system, would you mind replaying quickly to let me know if it's any better? I feel I may be suffering from "developer blindness," since I've been working on this game for a month I've gotten used to the controls and can't tell if they feel bad haha
Really cool entry! I'm super impressed with how the game looks, as well as the auditory ambiance playing the whole time which really adds to the experience. All of the different features and mechanics in this game that you were able to fit within the month of the jam is really impressive. I think the game could benefit from a bit more of a progression curve, since the enemy waves at night are always the same, but other than that this is a really good game. I'm especially fascinated with the dynamic grid system you were able to implement for the farming.
Also, this is semi-unrelated, but ignore the guy who left a snarky comment on the game page. Going through his profile, he leaves nasty comments like that on almost all of the games he plays, and he hasn't even published a game himself, so he doesn't know what he's talking about. Just ignore him. I know that pouring hours into a jam project like this, especially a month long one, and then getting a bad comment like that can be very demoralizing, so I feel bad.
Hey man i know you're just trying to leave your honest "review" here but comments like this are extremely unnecessary and can be very demoralizing to us devs. If you have critique to give then feel free, but you could at least be nice about it. Keep in mind that a lot of devs on itch are new to the field and don't need such harsh criticism. Not to mention this particular game is a jam entry and was developed in less than a month, so naturally it's not going to be perfect. I happened to be very impressed by it.
