  • I thought there was more to this but I guess not? The music was nice, but I wasn't fully understanding how this related to the theme.

Did you include your Game Design Document in your downloadable files?
Yes

Tell us about your game!
Based on Rob Paravonian's "Pachelbel Rant": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxC1fPE1QEE

With a general interest in "how can music be visualized?" with influences such as the musanim Youtube channel, I'm taking a naive mapping of the HSV color wheel to the circle of fifths

Did you remember to include your Game Design Document?
Yes

Is your game set to Public so we can see it?
Yes

Extra Notes
Thanks for the push to take the first step forward in experiencing how to make a game.
This was a great time where I was actively re-experiencing the joys and frustrations of earnestly learning something brand new.

I play the cello.  I feel your pain.
I feel like the attack rate should have been at least twice as fast.

Developer

I played the violin (long out of practice now though), so Pachelbel's Canon in D wasn't painful for me.

The Pachelbel Rant came to mind when the game jam theme was announced and I was already reviewing old class work where I had done some initial exploration on music visualization.

Thanks for the feedback on the attack rate. I didn't leave myself a whole lot of time to tweak the feel of the "attack" interaction and I agree that a 1 attack per second does feel slow. Other aspect I was attempting to balance it with was the "hit points" as the desired game over state is the entire game screen covered in flashing color/sound.

Ahh, I see this is a lot deeper than I first thought! Great concept. But sorry as a pianist I love Pachelbel's Canon in D. XD.  But seriously awesome effort here!

lolol I like it! Interesting flip on the music game concept. Instead of creating the tune or assisting it, you are just trying to shut it up hahaha. See you in hell, Pachelbel!

Well done!

Very interesting haha :) Would be nice if there was some sort of end game condition (unless I just couldn't find it). But cool game and interpretation of the theme!

Thanks for checking out my game. I was still figuring out how to implement a "sanity" gauge that depletes while hearing the sound and replenishes when in silence up to the deadline, so I didn't have time to fine tune numbers and UI/UX in addition to learning how to set up the game over screen.
