Adventure through mysterious kitchen wonders as Jam, a butter-knife-wielding mouse, in a 2D metroidvania mission to find the best piece of toast to spread your butter on.

**IMPORTANT**
The game is missing a tutorial, please read below for controls and tips.
Main menu must be clicked to start.


Controls (For best experience use Game Pad):

Move: Left Stick/WASD

Jump: A/SPACE

Dash (Grants I-Frames): B/Left Shift

Attack: X/Left Click



UNLOCKABLE CONTROLS (Unlocked through progression, picking up spreads):

Spread: Right Trigger/E (Usable after finding butter jar)

Cycle Spreads: Right Bumper/R (Usable after finding honey jar)

Target: Left Bumper/Right Click (Usable after finding honey jar, used to wall jump with honey)

Change Targets: Right Stick/Left and Right Arrow Keys (Usable after finding honey jar)


Spreads:
Butter can be used to move faster and jump higher, as well as light fires.
Honey can slow enemies, and be used to wall jump with targeting.


IMPORTANT BUG NOTES:

Due to a bug, credits are only in fullscreen.

​Mousetraps only give max jump height if you walk on them, not jump.

Big cheeses don't work :(

There is issues for some people with sounds playing wrong, if it is bad for you you will have to mute unfortunately.

It is possible to get stuck outside of boss rooms, if this happens dying will reset it.

Boss Cockroach: In the second phase, when it is charging, you are able to stun it by forcing it to slip on butter before hitting the wall.

I found 2 invisible ledges under the entrance to the 1st cheese. was able to enter where the big cheese was but nothing happened. jumping from the pipes I could not get onto the ledge to get to the second spiderweb. after trying to figure out the big cheese I found I could walk through the wall and fall off into oblivion. interesting game but the web version is bugged for sure, hopefully after the game jam you can fix things up.

The artwork on this is excellent and the music fits nicely with the art style. I ran into a few bugs but nothing that the other commenters haven't already talked about so I won't repeat them again. Great work!

I like the game. The character is fun and movement feels nice outside combat. Maybe I'm alone but the mousetrap bounce seemed inconsistent: I couldn't get max height unless I came from the right side and there's one trap you can't do that on on the right end of the lvl so I felt softlocked unable to jump high enough to get out.

Thanks for playing! And about the mousetrap issue, it is a bug unfortunately where if you jump on the mousepad you actually get a much shorter launch then if you just walk on it. One of the ones we plan on fixing after the judging period for sure.

very nice art and animation, really enjoyed the dash-mouse trap hyper jump as well. to attack felt a bit slow but that's not really is an issue, just a preference. to be fair i really missed a map or some more recognisable objects around the map though to help me navigate or to give me some direction for the cheese. it's a beautiful and nice entry nonetheless!

Mousetrap jump felt really satisfying.
I've got two cheeses (no idea what they do) and a big jar (also not clear what it does). Not sure if it's intended that enemies don't respawn after your death. Glad I didn't have to fight them again though.
I have found 1 invisible ledge and one place where you can almost jump on but not quite.

Mousetrap jump and the mouse character itself are the highlights for me.

Thanks for playing! The cheeses are intended to raise max healh, but unfortunately they are bugged. The jar unlocks the spread mechanic, I am going to clear this up in the description. Thanks for the feeback!
