If you are up for it, then I can teach you how to create something small like Pong - maybe with fireballs - to release on Linux.

Just to be clear. You'd create the game, I'd focus on being available for questions and solutions, and letting you learn how to implement them.

I don't mind if you say you are interested, but then change your mind later. This is non-committal. Maybe you'll find a team and you prefer that.

I have also worked with R, so I might be able to answer from questions relating to the transition from it.

Thanks! This is very useful info. /dev/input devices are opened RD_ONLY, with the open syscall. Needing root permissions to read from input devices seems very strange to me. Does your distro have a input user group that you need to be in, like it is with Arch Linux?

I found it to be fantastic!

I have been going through stuff on Itch.io, and with this game I got an urge to open it up again, after I finished my first play session.

The last stage seems broken though. Both bulls died, and then nothing happened.

I enjoyed my time with this!

This thread is for anyone who might try this with Wine. The idea is that if you fix any issues you encounter, then post them here.

At first I couldn't get the game to run, but I found this error message,

005d:err:module:load_builtin_dll failed to load .so lib for builtin L"WLDAP32.dll": libldap_r-2.4.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.

It turns out that I needed the 32bit version of libldap. It was called lib32-libldap on Arch Linux, as of writing.

I have a Dualshock 2 controller and the game isn't picking it up. I'm going to try different things, and I'll edit this post after.

Yeah. In order to avoid having players jump into the collision boxes, I just stop the slap if that were to happen.

However, now people don't get why it happens, and they manage to jump into collision areas.

For that error, you need to install OpenAL development headers. You can probably just run, the "run" executable.

I like the concept. It could really be something if you had it playing to a song, and the actions the player makes, changes the song.

Exchanges - I liked how it made me understand this abstract symbols. Especially how there was a wall between two goals.

I was unable to play, because of the controller requirement. I do have a game controller, but it's a dualshock 2, which is pretty rare with PC. As such, it's understandable that it doesn't work

Concerning the GLEW issue. Usually when we release games, we want the least amount of system packages, so can use something like http://glad.dav1d.de/ instead, because it compiles into your binary. (GLEW probably can do this aswell)

Actual animation! And good! I don't get why you chose to only use two buttons. I had issues making it do what I want.

The art and focus of the game are good, but when I first heard the shoot sound you used, I fell in love.

There's no need for a mouse. I just put my cursor on the head, and used LMB as my shoot button (I'm on a laptop). Also staying in the bottom left corner makes it very easy. I didn't know there was a super shot.

I really liked parts of this. I picked up the item that we don't get to know what is, and it really worked in such a way that I spontaneously used it when informed about it, which fits with the narrative. Because I got the feeling of "oh no. I get what I actually did".

However I disagree with your choice of subject matter for a Gamejam. There's not enough time to explore something like this. So it just depressed me, and made me concerned that there's someone out there, suffering over such an experience, while I don't get the satisfaction of a good story/experience, for going through it, because it was made in Gamejam time.

Your decision to make everything a noise texture, but still discernible and colorful, was enjoyable.

Cool, but I only have an internal microphone, so it picked up it's own audio.

The colors really make it look good. It's a physics toy, and those are always fun. The movement is very slow however. It is so slow, I was switching between my controller and the keyboard, because I couldn't figure out if it was actually working.

This is solid. The idea that you have to stand on a button, and launch yourself, really feels like a good use of one function/verb. Also how you have to roll over, and then jump, to get through a tight spot.

I liked that my story, was of a person who gets up in the morning, puts on some clothes and jumps of a bridge.

I think this is a perfect gamejam project idea, and I didn't encounter any bugs or jankiness. I did however not figure out how to win the second level, where you are supposed to shoot through the hole. I kept hitting the same spot. 

Yes there should be a level to play, and I'm a bit disappointed that I failed to do that. I was way too ambitious with this project.
