Wow this game is amazing, I love it! Graphics, audio, and gameplay are all great, the dialogue is pretty funny, and it has an awesome storyline

I hope you work on this a bit more. One thing I thought was missing is some sort of visual cue for the hooking mechanic, and I wish I'd seen your message about fullscreen before xD, but other than that you did an incredible job on this game, one of my favorites so far!

Hey, I tried and rated your game, here's ours! please give it a go

https://itch.io/jam/bullet-hell-jam-2022/rate/1492155

Oh damn, you're right. I completely missed that feature, all I read was Continue? my bad!
all that information does get lost a little up in that corner, if you pull it just a bit away from the edges of the screen it should be more accessible to the player :D

Ah,  I'm sorry, somehow I completely missed rage mode... lol, I played it again, and yes, like that, but I thought it was way too op
I liked the speed boost, just maybe not so fast :P

Well, I didn't do anything special, the battle had just begun and I was shooting at him, I'm using Chrome
I tried again and it now crashed near the end of the second boss :( I was just playing (moving and shooting)
so I got some more feedback for you instead :P
It'd be cool to shoot the asteroids in the first area
The sprite work is awesome, but all the enemies and bosses have the same paintwork and end up looking kind of the same
you could bump up the speed of all things in the game to make it more fast and snappy
And one last thing that would've been great was being able to change your ship after dying, kind of like arcade shmups
because you already have different playable ships, but you have to start the game each time to try them out!
best of luck to you mate :D

Hey man, thanks, I'd appreciate it, we're looking for a sound designer to handle the sound effects in the game
please let me know if any of your friends are interested :)
and thanks for the praise!

Solid gameplay, impressive visuals, and an immersive soundtrack make this a great little entry!
The sprites are pretty fun to look at, and the enemies and attack variety was very good
I would have liked a way to recover hp (maybe I missed it?), and an implementation of the theme in gameplay

Oomphh, looks amazing, but I keep getting my crosshair locked to the character and I can't aim
I played a little like this and looks really cool, the sprites and art direction are superb, and I thought the implementation of the theme was fun and creative. Please let me know if you can fix the aiming issue, i'd love to play the full game!

Great entry! Everything is super polished, the gameplay is so satisfying
I'm genuinely impressed that one person did this
at first I thought you could use the shadows to avoid getting hit by the bullets, but that wasn't the case
Still enjoyed the gameplay, and the art and music are pretty good too!
One of the most solid games I've played so far in the jam :D nice stuff

Wow, the music in this blows me away, its amazing
The huge level designs were nice to explore, but I kept hoping to see more enemy variety
and it's a bit confusing that full hearts recover only half a heart :(
the dash was fun to use, and I only wish there was a power-up to feel more badass

The art and music of this game are amazing, I enjoyed looking at the backgrounds, and I was very surprised to see there are three full levels. Unfortunately the game crashed for me during the third boss fight and I didn't get to see the end :C

It says 0 bytes but it works! Fantastic entry! Took me a while to figure out what you needed to do. The music and art are great, it was very immersive and I enjoyed the concept of speaking to attack. I think some visual feedback for when you speak the words correctly would be good

damn, this needs to be way up. I think you can still change the submission page, you should add a description :(
fantastic art btw :D

surprisingly deep entry with a lot of cool systems like upgrades, a shop, randomized levels, dialogue system and so on. The sprites are amazing, and I really like the direction this game wants to go
My only real gripe is what everyone else has already said, there was an enemy that showed only once (the one which attacks portions of the player area), I died at room 46  :( I also managed to buy the red gem and used it accidentally before leaving the shop (idk, it's weird that you don't know what it does before you buy)

Damn, I thought It was a neat game, the art and style are definitely amazing
unfortunately it kept crashing on me after numerous attempts :(

Cool game, loved the bat mechanics, it was confusing at first when it said 'swing to use' and since the bat moves when you move the mouse, I kept swinging like that and getting hit, lol
and I thought the second boss was pretty hard to hit, other than that, it's a good and polished game :D gj!

Wow, that was pretty cool! It all looks polished, and the concept was fun
Switching between the different ships was awesome, but I ended up using it more in emergency situations and felt a little unfair that you get hit instantly. Still I'd play a more complete version of this!

I liked the visuals and the music, and I also got the key stuck on the final boss :( I think the lasers could come earlier in the fight because they turned on until I was defeating him

nice! I thought it was creative and fun once you get the hang of it. the background was mesmerizing

Really beautiful game, kind of relaxing. I just would love to have more than 1 life before it is over!

I was blown away by the visuals and animations in the game. the punching felt great but I thought the shooting was a bit weak. Overall, a nice and fun experience :)

Thanks! You should try again! There's another boss after the flail boss :P
The awesome concepts for the enemies and symbols were done by the composer, Mystro, while I did the final art you see in the game
We definitely spent way too much time adding features and polishing the concept, so that's a lesson learned, but we still have high hopes for the game, and we plan to continue development in the near future

One more day would have been a world of difference for the game :( We want to continue working on it, and maybe we'll have something to show after the jam is over :P Thank you still for your interest, and please follow us and our game to see any updates!

That's alright, still a  cool concept and a fun experience, gj :D

I got surprised by a bullet on what I think was the last room. I played the entire level, and it does get more challenging, I just didn't feel the variation in the attacks as much :/

I loved the style, great polish, visuals and audio. The confinement was there, but I wish something more interesting was done with it. The dialogue was really engaging, and it all comes together really nicely, great job!

Cute sprites, the animations are so well realized. The power-up is nice, and the boss is pretty cool!
The feather attack is a just little hard to see :P

Fun idea, I liked the visuals and music, and wow, the sound spam in this is amazing.
I wish I were able to shoot at the enemy ships :P

Great concept mixing turn-based strategy with flying bullets. The gameplay felt a little too slow, nerve-racking at times, and I would have liked more interactions, but it was fun and challenging, and the graphics are very well done!

Really fun and creative. Could use a tutorial to learn about the controls, and more levels would have been nice!

(1 edit)

Really fun and solid gameplay, the punchy soundtrack definitely fits the style of the game. The enemy has a nice difficulty ramp and it gets really challenging by the end, I got a B rank lol
I would have liked to see more attacks that place blocks and maybe a bit more work on some sprites (visual style is great)

Thank you, that's my bad. When I designed the bullets I didn't even know what the background color was going to be, and we didn't have coins yet. I'm planning to improve bullet sprites as we develop the game :D thanks again

I read just below that you were focusing on art and polish for this game, and wow, I think you nailed it. All the mechanics feel solid and fun, the art looks great and is well-realized, there's a strong style on display and I really love it. The weapons are all satisfying to use, I just thought Barracuda was too op for the 2nd Boss (you can just spam to win), and also you can just jump behind the final boss and shoot it until you win :(

As others have said, the concept is great. I think you did a fantastic job with the gameplay feel and graphics, it looks very polished. I find it impressive that you managed to create a tileset with floor tiles at such a low resolution and still have recognizable objects and entities, it's just not something you see every day. The gameplay did lack depth though, enemies don't move and there's barely any real challenge. It does feel pointless after some time. Walking mindlessly through the darkness, earning money, killing creatures that don't react, as some sort of dark joke from the developer. Pretty nihilistic if you ask me. It's probably not what you intend, but I like it! Reminds me of one of my projects, maybe we should work together :P

Fun little game with great ideas. I like that there's an outside entity speaking to you as you play, I think it's a simple but powerful mechanic for story-telling, and works great on this game. I wish you'd get more lines per level, instead of having to complete the level to finish a sentence, so that it feels as if the AI is actually conversing with you. I'd really like to see this game expanded with new mechanics and interactions between the narrator and the player

True true :D All good, it was a great learning experience. Thanks!

I did some of the art for this game, and honestly, I have no idea why it looks this way. I told them the ship's interiors should be all black, and the exteriors white, kind of like what you see in the first image
I had a lot of fun making these sprites, and if the creator of the game wants to see this through, I can work with a more experienced programmer to bring his vision to life :D Cheers!

Everyone should check this game out, it mixes 3 genres in a unique and refreshing way. It takes the 'Loop' theme a step further. The art looks great, and the colors really pop. It has solid, satisfying gameplay mechanics in all three genres. And those sprites are awesome, wow, I am impressed xd

It's a great concept that I'd like to see developed further. I was hoping the character would bounce off the walls a little, to have better chances of getting back on track if you fail. Btw, I was typing Mars on the daily level high score, and R restarts the level :(

Thanks! :D Can I ask you to do the same for the posters? :P
