Backpack Boy is being made into a full game! Follow us at https://twitter.com/backpackboygame for updates

nvm just took a while, lots of trial and error in later levels, but that's kind of unavoidable with this mechanic. still made it to the end though. cool game!

i feel like i've tried every portal, what do?

Fun game, little frustrating but still satisfying when you beat it. Removing some certain mode combinations would help a lot. I like that it's hard, just wish it was a little easier. Presentation, music, and theming are all great as well!

Drift mechanic feels great, and I love the little visual touches like the grass swaying and the speed trails when you dash. I wonder how it would feel if the game used the mouse direction or an analog for aiming, rather then turning?

Great game, love the atmosphere and the slowly building music that ties to your progress. I really loved the transition from jumping off of the cliff all the way to the base of the mountain. Mechanics are a little simple, and it can be a little hard to find where to glide to next, but the visuals and the sense of exploration won me over.

omg i am fucking idiot i forgot about the the mode switching ill try it again

Made it to wave 13 by just walking the perimeter. There are not enough flies in the universe to kill all these frogs. My only chance was the upgrade that doubles the flies you get, but it seems it only increases the amount by 1. Still had fun through 9.5

Walking at the bottom of the screen makes the player disappear. Tried it again, and it was pretty fun. Great job!

Mind if I ask which part you got stuck?

Yeah that was my bad. If you still wanna see what the game is like just kick out the tutorial guy as soon as the game starts.

Where did you get stuck at?

You select the first of the 3 tabs at the top of the screen. Then drag the item you want to sell to the box. Use the arrows to choose the price and click on the number itself to try to sell the item.

yeah i tried to fix that but the way i coded it made it hard for the plug to know what the other end was doing. luckily not many people figured it out.

Okay thanks!

Just to make sure, did you know you can wall jump?

Thanks for checking it out!

I really like how many different spells and special attributes they had, but some of them are a bit op. Singularity would freeze the game for a few seconds and just kill all the enemies on screen, and I got a chain type spell that wouldn't disappear, so it was just a huge area of massive damage. Just a bit of balancing could make this a great wave based spell slinger!

lol

what really?!?!?

We both made platformers, called switch, with randomly inverted controls.

(1 edit)

yeah i left that in for debug purposes just in case some of the levels were broken. the button to test the level is space sorry about that

FORGOT TO PUT IN GAME BUT ITS SPACE BAR TO TRY OUT THE LEVEL THANKS BYE

It shipped with a bug that crashed the game so uhh if you still would like to play here is the link: https://ethan-meyer.itch.io/present-rush-postjam

is it this one?

can you take a screenshot of it?

If you get stuck make sure you press R to reset the level.

Thanks for the feedback!

i don't really know what i think about i. its an interesting idea, but the lighting mechanic is kind of just a chore that you have to manage on top of all the  puzzles. If the puzzles found a better way to incorporate the shadows kill you mechanic, then i'm sure this game could be great. pretty cool ending though with the house. also ladders are buggy and can blast you though walls

really cool. some cool things to add would be if you could change the trajectory of the bullet mid flight, or slow or freeze time while falling.

sprite-work is great but the game play isn't really there. quick question what font did you use for your text? that font would have been perfect for my game

its a shame that this didn't get turned in intime, it was pretty fun.

very nice

Probably the best game I've played so far. great job!

Really great idea here. Its basically a puzzle plat-former/shooter.

Seems like a really  interesting combination, but i kept getting suck in walls right before the end of the 1st checkpoint, also the click to walk is a little disorienting.

the text cues really helped, and even with that i couldn't pass the second level
