I don't think I'm the target audience for this kind of thing, but I'm always impressed by artists who dedicate themselves to their craft without compromising.

Hello! I couldn't find another way to contact you, but I've noticed that you've published a rather peculiar game. I wanted to respectfully warn you that your game might be violating some guidelines of Itch.io. Additionally, the rules of the Game Jam specify that no games with strong themes such as gore are allowed. However, I haven't checked the game myself because I'm quite sensitive to these things, so forgive me. If you'd like to provide any clarification, I'm more than happy to hear what you have to say. Sorry for any inconvenience.

hi!

the game contains a brief textual description of gore. it turned out to be necessary in terms of artistic integrity, since the game isn't just built in mind of the principle that sex and death, rot, pain and divine ecstasy are the same thing, but explicitly says as much, but since i'd started by making it for the jam i thought i might as well continue and submit it (especially since the listed restrictions are a little confusing to me - 'topics like pedophilia and discrimination' makes sense, but it seems to me that gore is an entirely different kind of thing unrelated to the other two)

as far as the site guidelines go, they seem ambiguous on the topic and you know what they say about forgiveness and permission :3

(and re peculiar, thanks but to be honest i think it's actually pretty derivative, in a tradition of queer hard kink art that i see quite a lot of in my personal bubble)

Hi!

Gore content can be potentially disturbing and may not be suitable for all participants, especially those who are not comfortable with explicit images of violence or blood. Since we want to create an inclusive and respectful environment for all participants, it's important to avoid content that may cause unnecessary discomfort or distress.

Additionally, as this is an NSFW Game Jam, it's important to focus on adult content in a way that is creative and stimulating, while also respecting the boundaries of what is acceptable for our community of participants. Therefore, we have decided that gore content does not align with the overall tone of the Game Jam.

In general, I respect artistic integrity because I find it very important. After all, art is free, and it's beautiful to see how each person expresses it. I'm just saying that maybe this Game Jam isn't the right fit for the type of content you're sharing.

Additionally, I would recommend putting a disclaimer at the beginning of the game, if you haven't already. Just so that people aren't taken by surprise XD.

I'm delighted to seek a solution to the issue because I don't want to disqualify the game either (I understand how hard it must have been to work on the game for the Jam), but it's still somewhat intense content for this Game Jam. I'm not sure how you see it. And forgive me for sending you these messages; I know they're quite a hassle, but it seemed important to clarify things.

it seems to me that the same could be said of a lot of other kinds of kink content too, like emotional manipulation, agency-denying mind modification or dramatic body modification.

i'm not sure i understand your second paragraph  but to take a stab, i would like to make sure it's clear that i made this because i think it's hot, that it's all intended as sexual content even if it's not necessarily obvious to people who don't have something wrong with them :p

however, to me intensity is pretty much the sole measure of value, so we may somewhat be speaking different languages here

I understand your points and appreciate your explanation of how you perceive your work. It's important for me to understand your vision and intention behind the content. However, I still have concerns about the intensity of the content in relation to the overall tone of our Game Jam.

I suppose the ideal thing would be to ask all participants for their opinion regarding gore in general. On the other hand, I would suggest that you include several warnings, both prominently in the game and outside of it. Just to ensure that people sensitive to this type of content don't play it by accident. Thank you for your understanding, and sorry for bothering you.

i don't really understand the question of intensity - like i say, i think that everything should always be made as intense as possible, and that that's the only thing that really makes something worthwhile on its own terms.

the content warning seems pretty clear and prominent to me. my current perspective is that as metadata, content warnings belong outside of the thing they refer to, but i'm not entirely certain on that.

Well, the truth is that I haven't received any complaints about the game, so I'm going to leave it as it is. Sorry for being so harsh, but I was afraid someone would end up traumatized (you have to understand that the way you describe the game, makes it seem like one is about to enter the Deep Web, so it's normal to be a little scared XD), or that Itch.io would break my... Well, you know what I mean hahaha.

I emphasized the issue of warnings because I saw a few comments mentioning that they didn't expect what they found, so I got a bit worried. Just keep in mind that you're dealing with very specific fetishes, which may not entirely fit the overall tone of the Game Jam. Anyway, sorry for the inconvenience. I hope you had fun making the game for the Jam, and trying out the other games!

A very unique experience. Should have taken the time to read the trigger warning on the page...

That was pretty disturbing, made more so by the pencil art. Not sure why she was able to kill me on the flimsy balcony awning outside the window in full view of everyone? Horror isn't my thing so this wasn't really my cup of tea. However, I know that putting together all this takes a lot of work, especially with branching dialogue and options!
