How does your game fit the theme?
You play as Alice, a very curious cat that wants to know what's behind every door in her way.
But she cannot open doors herself, so she has to attract the attention of others to do that for her.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes, except for the music and sound effects.

This was a very good idea as a game I really really like it but has little to do with the theme.

This is really awesome and adorable. Great job!

Ah... Helltaker but with cute pixel graphics and cats... Turns out I'm still terrible at turn-based puzzles LOL. But seriously this game was incredibly cute and well-polished. From everything starting with the intro cutscene and the pictures of cats, it's clear you put a lot of love in this game  and it definitely shows. Especially with things like not letting the spikes kill you, it just scoots you back. Great touch. Overall just a really fun puzzle game, I could see it popping off in the app store. Well done!

This game is really cool!

I love this gameplay, the art and sound so cute. 5/5.

Really cute idea, but a little difficult. I agree with SwaggyBBQ that some easier puzzles at the start would've been nice.

Great job, These were some seriously tough puzzles out the gate. I think a few puzzles that baby stepped you into it, or maybe I'm just bad lol. I really loved the art, and the cat pictures after each level was cute. Keep up the good work!

Excellent game! As a block-pushing-futurist I love that you built such an interesting take on it, using the skeletons to complete the puzzles. It all looks so good and cohesive too, I like the additional mechanics explained within the later levels as graphics. And the photos as a bonus challenge is a nice touch. Coming up with puzzles within an engine can always be tough, but you made some really good ones with a reasonable difficulty curve. Very impressive entry!

Probubly the cutest game I've seen in this game jam! Artstyle is very unique and adds a lot to the games apeal. Puzzle design is very solid and  could work in some full blown steam release! But the game dosen't  fit for the theme very well though

Great one! The puzles are really well made, the concept is really cute and innovative and overall it was really fun! Also great graphics (and cat pictures).

Really cute game! I'm usually bad at puzzle games, but I really enjoyed this one :) I love cats and it's amazing to see a cat as the protagonist. I also love the gallery! It makes the collection worth many times more. Thanks for making it!

Really polished, didn't go out of a clear set scope and goal and plays great with nice music and legitimately fun but challenging puzzles.  While I'm not sure if it fit the Jam theme exactly, it's a great game and you should definitely be proud of this.

I found a small issue with the spike logic .  For example, in level 3, to get the Picture without the box/skeleton:

  • The section is : Picture | Spike 1 | Spike 2 | Start
  • Spike 1 and 2 are in the same state (up).
  • Cat moves from Start to Spike 2 safely.
  • If you press "space" you'll be pushed back to Start
  • If you press "left" you'll be pushed back to Spike 2
  • If you now press Space, you'll be pushed to Spike 1 safely.

Seems to happen as the game is trying to put the player back where they came from, but ends up being "chees-able" and exploitable. It works consistently and can let the player spike-push through other areas very easily (like the row of 3 spikes on the right side of level 3).  I think you'll need to have the last "safe" square be remembered and have the cat reset to that spot or pushed all the way back visually.

Oh, I see, thank you for finding that out and explaining the issue! I'll definitely need to fix that after the jam ends.

I'm glad you enjoyed the game! Though, I agree that it's not the most creative interpretation of the theme, but I still wanted to make something just for fun and to practice.

You're welcome!  I enjoy doing QA a bit as means of observation, as it helps me understand issues that I'm sure to encounter in a future game jam once I'm more confident with Godot.  Good luck in future jams!

Well made puzzle game! with cool mechanics once i learned to call the skeleton and not die on spikes

Nicely done game. The cat in the pictures is very cute. one thing that i would add is a back one turn button.

Thank you for feedback! I wanted to implement an undo button to make the game less punishing, but due to the way the game's logic works, it would take too much time and fine-tuning. However, I am going to add it in a post-jam patch.

What a very minimalist game! The graphism are actually very good regarding the number of pixel available!

It's a good puzzle game but I should admit that it took me a while to understand that meow will "skip" a turn. You might want to add in introduction level to show this mechanism?

👏 congrats for your game. I already created a turn by turn puzzle game like that and I do know that it's more complex that it might look.

Thank you for your feedback! There's now a "Hints" section on the game's page, where some unintuitive mechanics are explained.

Really cute puzzle game that simple but actually is quite tricky (or I'm just dumb, hints would be nice :D). Plus the bonus kitty pictures and the intro sequence/ tutorial was great!

Thanks for your feedback! I've added a few hits to the game's page.

It was definitely tricky, took me a bit to understand the mechanics too.
