Description
I envisioned a soft little Clock-town, doomed to be destroyed. A version before and after, if you will. Though I changed the instruments later, making the songs resemble each other less. I used MuseScore.

Message from the artist:
No story here, just a nice clock-town about to be destroyed :)

Theme:

Tick Tock...

How does it fit the theme?
I used different instruments such as wood- and temple-blocks and hi-hats on 120 BPM to make it resemble a clock.

Awesome entry! I love the instrumentation, especially, and the melodies are really pleasant to listen to. The tempo change in Minutown’s Destruction was an excellent touch; It fits the time-related theme while also adding the sense of urgency of the town’s doom.

Minutown was great, a nice change in mood that still fit with the first track. I really like the main looping instrument there (I’m guessing it’s some kind of altered piano sound?)

Developer

Thanks a lot, glad you like it :D
And the main melody-instrument in Minutown is an Electric Bass, surprisingly. In Musescore3, I am unable to really alter piano sounds, so I work solely with natural instrument-sounds!

I was saving your compositions for last :)

Welcome to Minutown!: You know I love your melodies. Well, here again, you nailed it! From bar 21 onwards, this melody is simple and splendid. I don't know why, but it sounds so good and stays in your head.

Minutown's Destruction: My favorite of the 2. Firstly, the choice of instruments: the piano as a clockwork pendulum, backed up by the percussive part. The marimba and its trills. And especially the clarinet, which has a melancholy quality that fits the theme perfectly.

Your key changes are very smooth and the accelerendo is so well integrated that the return to 120 is fluid and seems normal. I must admit I'm tempted to steal the idea for a future creation :)

In short, great work as usual :)

Developer

Thanks a lot :D

Glad you like my melodies <3. By checking what part bar 21 is, I do notice that... why was my electric bass playing in the wrong key xD. You must have wondered that same thing.

And I am also very glad about that 'return to 120' and the smooth key-changes. I'm getting better at that ;). Feel free to steal, it is just a concept, nothing I can claim as mine or something. That's the thing I like about these jams: getting inspired by other creators!

In short, thanks for the compliments as usual :)

These are such great and memorable melodies! I listened several times over because they're just so catchy. The tempo change in the first track kept things interesting, and the second track had a beautifully pleasant mood. Your music gave me a happy moment of nostalgia because, as someone else mentioned in the comments, it does have an old-school Final Fantasy air about it which I adore!

Developer

Wow, thanks! I thought people wouldn't like the songs, but I published them anyway. I'm very glad it got such a good reception!! Happy you like it <3

Welcome to Minutown: This is fun town theme, and as always I appreciate you including the composition pdfs so we can see what’s going in your mind for the compositional process. The way you land on the third in the bass of the V chord gives an interesting sound. You do a good job of keeping it open so it doesn’t sound dissonant, but it definitely does not automatically sound like the V chord when you first arrive there. It’s a shame that the town is about to be destroyed…

Minutown’s Destruction: I like this Banjo-Kazooie-esque destruction version. It is sad, but it has a playful sound to it that would work well for a Nintendo game as it’s not too dark. I think this version is my favorite of the two. The new section at the end of the repeat with the accelerando is a really cool and creative section that feels like a dance may be starting to take place, but then somehow you get back to the original tempo and I didn’t even realize how it happened! Great writing! Great work and thank you for sharing!

Developer

Hey, glad to see you here :D. And thanks a lot for the compliments!

My accelerando was actually inspired by your 'Fossilized Relics'! And as you may have figured out, I sped it up from 120 BPM to 240BPM, which you can simply halve by doubling the duration of notes ;). It indeed gives a very smooth transition back, I'm very glad about it (though I think your accelerando was even smoother and more epic). Thanks again <3

I feel honored to have been an inspiration for this! Wow that's really clever - it comes across so seamlessly!

The theme working in both minor and major key is really good! The tempo rise makes a great tension :)

Thanks a lot :D

majora's mask who? this submission is really nice, it's got a fun vibe about it, the way your motif works in both major and minor keys is really cool! i also really liked how "Minutown's Destruction" speeds up at the end during the fade out! really nice ending filled with tension :)))

Developer

Thank you, glad you like it :D
I actually wanted to call it 'Clock Town', but then I realized the town in Majora's Mask had that name as well xD.

Simple and sweet :) I like the woodblock sounds, not only do they give the songs a more clock-y feel, but they also add a certain quirk to it. I also enjoyed how Minutown’s Destruction uses the same theme/bassline but is made to sound more imposing with the strings and key change. The increase in tempo also adds a nice urgency to the track. Great work!

Thanks a lot, love the explanation <3

Cute :) I especially enjoyed the syncopation in the melody starting bar 21 in Welcome to Minutown. Nice job.

Developer

*googling syncopation*... Thanks! I am trying out things to introduce variation, glad you like it :D

Those mallets haha! Always love the effect it has on me x). The acceleration is really well made and caught me off guard, I really liked this one!

In the second track you can still hear the Minutown soul while it is more playful (major instead of minor and slow tempo, etc, well done!)

I visualises an old medieval fantasy rpg with this ost, congrats :)

Developer

Thanks a lot, love the explanation :D

Nice melodies... would be great with some 90s adventure game ^_^.

Developer

Thanks a lot :D

Destruction has the right combination of tension and goofyness, it's so fun to listen too. Maybe it's also because of the flute, but it reminds me of some tracks of the old Final Fantasy games for PS1.

I listened to Welcome after  listening to Destruction, and now I'm a bit sad that they sounded so happy and carefree before haha

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot, I appreciate it <3. I've never played FF, but I am interested to compare :)

Just as an example, it gives me this kind of vibes

Love the references! I can see how it sounds similar in simplicity, instruments and sound.

Both tracks are cute and lively. They remind me a bit of Slime Rancher's soundtrack. Great work!

Developer

Ah, thanks a lot :D. I look forward to hearing your entry!

I love the tempo rises and fall, it made me smile! This music is so whimsical and a really good play on the theme. Good composing work!

Developer

Thanks a lot, I am glad it made you smile! :D

Gentle tracks that give an air of time passing slowly. Comfortable and easy to listen to.

Developer

Thanks a lot <3

There was a comment in the discord about there being an influx of songs at 120bpm, but I've been through over 40 of these so far and I think you're the only one who actually went there! These are a couple fun tracks.

Developer

Oh wow, I would also think everyone would do it at 120BPM. Glad to see people are being more original than me haha! Thanks for the compliment :)

Welcome to Minute Town is cute! I could see this for a casual little game. Well done.

Developer

Thanks a lot :D. You are here early, I appreciate the support!
