I appreciate that it mobile friendly

I'm extremely biased cause I love dragons and kobolds but this game is great!

I do feel like the gameplay can get a bit same-y after a couple minutes or so due to there only being 4 types of knights alongside only 4 items. I also noticed that how full the pride meter doesn't really matter, and seems to serve more so as a time-out after buying an item or being defeated by a knight. Maybe the meter could be repurposed in a way? For example, that being hit by a knight only takes a percentage, and if you still have pride, you can try again. Or that buying an item also only takes a percentage. Or both, or something else! I can see the pride meter as something that can be used to give more progression to the game in an iteration!

Other than that, I really enjoy the premise and the art is wonderful too. I especially appreciate all the little actions, like the little talking-blips with the talking sprites, and the sprites just slightly moving around. Not to mention that clicking the dragon makes em bounce for a bit, which is adorable.

Also love the soundtrack and how it changes depending on the circumstances, it's really pleasant!

Cute game, love the art and dialogue! Though I stopped playing after a while because it didn’t feel like I was progressing toward anything; maybe having an evolving gameplay structure or more story incentive would have worked well here? Would love to see this expanded upon!

I really love the premise o our classic pets, but taken to an extreme! Really well done, and especially appreciate that it’s mobile friendly!

Wow this is really well put together! Amazing this was made in 48 hours! The theme, the graphics, the music, just everything was really well made. Almost hard to believe this is a jam game!

A few problems I did have though just as feedback:

  • My first play I think the princess instantly ran off or something? After talking to the first knight I went to the princess's room and she was gone and it instantly drained my pride meter. I looked in the town and dealt with a few more knights, but princess never came back. I assume this was maybe a glitch so after about 5 minutes I restarted and this time the princess stayed there, just asking for occasional items.
  • Again the game is great, especially as a game jam game! It did start getting repetitive fairly quickly though, especially with the same 3 or 4 knights, and the princess just rotating through objects to buy. I assume there's no end game? If there was then it would probably help if there is some sort of progress meter or something to show something new will come up. After about 10 minutes of this I just ended up watching the princess starve to death to see what happens.
  • I like the idea of the pride meter, but I'm not sure it was the best implemented. You stay with the coins to heal it, but anything that wounds your pride takes ALL of it. So then there's no point in filling your pride past the minimum then? Again good idea in general, but I think at minimum different actions should take up different amounts of pride, not all of it!

The above are overall fairly minor, and I know as game jam game there's only so much time to create and balance things! Overall you still did a wonderful job and this was far more impressive than I initially imagined it would be. Probably in the top 5 most engaging games I've played in the jam out of the ~65 or so so far. Excellent job to your team!!

Thanks for the detailed feedback! We definitely went all out with polishing the short experience we had for that good first impression, but what we really needed was playtesting and ideas on where to go next. Focusing on the story and adding more dialogue is one alternative, and adding more small things to do and micromanage is another. More content in general is the key!

I've fixed a few issues for a post-jam update. There was a bug with the princess not pausing her timers during dialogues, which led to unintentional game overs. The pride meter has also been adjusted, although it could use some more work in terms of what gameplay it serves. More variety in dialogue might be added, but I believe a short ending might be enough to seal the deal.

This was really enjoyable, however I didn't find that there was really any reason to use any option other than "burn" at any point. It didn't seem like the starting conversation with the knights really game any hints about which of the dragon's options to use. Enjoyable concept though.

Everything from the art style and feedback, to the music, is 10/10! My only complaint is maybe a lack of lore/storytelling, but I don't expect much anyway due to the nature of game jam entries. Adding this to my list of GMTK game jam entries that I hope gets a full game release one day!

I simply loved this game! Idea, execution, art, dialogue -- everything top-notch. Congrats for such great work!

The art and dialog for this is amazing. I haven’t seen too many novel-like games even though I think they would have been great for this theme. Yours is done very very well. Top marks from me!
