The atmosphere is really scary and I love it. Nice visuals (but a bit too dark for me) and sounds (monsters' sounds are quite glitchy and repetative). Needs some polishing, but, overall, a good game!.

Sorry I didn't rate it earlier I got a little busy, The art was very good and all the props were well placed. I'm not a fan of Horror games and it did scare me a lot which is good for this type of game. but after my first death, the game was boring just walking around picking up lights I couldn't really tell if the game had an ending other than death and for some reason if you backed into the corner when the monster comes near you he just disappeared. The monster growling sound effect was a little glitched and would cut out too.

You did an amazing job at the atmosphere though, I was scared before I even saw the monster and when he caught me I did scream a bit.

This game would be great for people who like Horror games if it just had a little bit more goals and clearer game mechanics.

Pretty solid game! The atmosphere and graphics were on point for the mood. Two points to think about: 1) the movement was a bit slidey/icey. Could have used some tweaks there. 2) Considering how much the monster sound goes off, either varying the pitch a bit or getting multiple SFX would help keep it fresh. Great work!

Semi-on-the-fly remarks:
  1. Controls are QWERTY-only instead of layout-independent (I have an AZERTY keyboard), BUT arrow keys are enabled.
  2. The atmospheric music/sounds is oppressive, as well as how the flashlight slowly weakens (clever implicit indication, by the way!).
  3. I wonder if the walking metallic sound that plays sometimes when you move is the same as in Half-Life! It sounds extremely similar. :)
  4. I managed to stay alive by moving constantly and getting flashlights regularly.
  5. Had the enemy take some blows at me at some point, although not fatal, so I guess you have some energy/health, maybe even self-recoring capacities.
  6. At first, I was wondering if you had to find an exit, but apparently, the world is infinite and generated procedurally. (I could recognize several architectures.) Since the game page states ‘you try to find your way out’, I am unsure whether you can actually go out!
  7. I could have continued playing, but stopped after 15 minutes (when my Pomodoro rang XD), because I am too much of a sissy to find out what happens if the enemy catches you. XD The screen capture will be enough!
  8. Out of remorse, launching again to see the game over.
Hey, if you stay at the beginning, after the enemy disappears the first time, do you stay safe?? It looks like so! XD
  9. Voluntary game over: ah, no specific sound? Also: you can still move your head around!

Takeaway: really scary, with lots of darkness and flashlights; it reminds me of Doom 3! As others said, just a scream looping problem apparently, but apart from that, the game runs fine and the way the world is generated procedurally seems nice. Maybe a bit too easy to escape the monster? I could run for a long time without seeing him, and when he showed up, he seemed a bit slow. Some variety in the mechanics would make the game even more interesting, but it may be hard to think up something simple, so I think this is already nice. Also, it looks like your take on the theme is classic (apparently, many games interpreted it as horror), but to the point; it just means the twist is less original.

First genuine horror game I played in the game jam and I was so frigtened. XD Good job!

Game is scary, but it would be nice to have explanation in the game not just on the page like what is the goal and what to do. I like the atmosphere, lights but the sound sometimes was looping strangely. And I had a feeling like when you walk you kinda slide. Overall, amazing job!

Atmosphere was good but game could be more self explaining on what to do. Its written on games page and thats ok because this is a jam.

pretty good atmosphere and visuals, movment is good, lighting is good just the sound breaks the immersion a bit, especially when it loops improperly, apart from the sound, great, flawless execution!

Great game! good job.

This game was great, but rather frightening considering I'm not generally accustomed to playing horror games. Either way, well done.

The game looks really good, but I don't know why sometimes the monster would just dissapear in front of me? What I would add to improve this game, is to add a camera-like effect (like in slender man) to obscure the vision of the player, instead of relying on a dark environnement. I would also add more ambient noises to scare the player, and show the monster a lot less, but keep the noises he makes even if he's not that close.

Pressed start and was eating my cheese. Died before I knew what was going on. Would die eating cheese again.

Pretty good.  the graphics are great and the monster gave me a pretty good scare.  The theme fits well, and the sound design is on point.

The only criticisms I have are that it's WAY too dark, like I can't tell what's going on half the time, and a main menu would be a nice addition.

over all, very nicely done.
