For most visuals. Got in bundle

Used HVR for VR there are a few more assets I used also. Will post all and my sounds on game page. My biggest coding part was getting the little melee system code to kill enemy when health gets to 0. It is a $5 asset that works with speed, so easy to use with vr sword movement.

What was your favorite part of this jam?
Doing something new and working with some AI. Spent the last 6 weeks on a game I plan to release for money and good to get a break.

What was the hardest part of this jam for you?
Trying to use AI again. Every day of jam some major problem. Today whole game broke. For some reason my spawner messed up a prefab. Took too long to figure out what broke.

What resources/tutorials do you wish you had when making this game?
On a 72 hour game jam I just use what I already know and but it together. No enough time to learn something fully new for me.

The boss was Cool, the scale was intense and the sword mechanics were cool.  I always like the anxiety i feel when playing something like this were they will sneak up on you! I like the concept.

Thanks for playing. The sound of spiders biting was one of last things I added and really needed, or you couldn't tell they were behind you. I should have added some foot steps, but with four legs would have taken some time to get sounds right.

The first spider/bug that came up to me got a sword straight to the face! I enjoyed this game's combat mechanics a lot. I was confused about the different colored squares. If I had to guess, maybe you were hoping to add in different elemental damage and those were place holders? I might advise scoping things down a bit in the future. This game felt like it had so many fun ideas jammed into it and there was no time left to get them all in or polish them.  Besides that, great jam entry! Big turtle boss is dope!!!

Developer

Thanks for playing.

No one understood what to do with the blocks. I made them different collors just to see in level while building, but that lead to more confusion. Realize now blocks are confusing and I didnt give any example how to use on starting level. I wanted to do a Vampire Survior clone.  But after 1st day realized no way I was going to finish in 72 hours.

I had fun killing those starship trooper style bugs. Slice slice slice. The color coded cubes did damage to the enemies but were they supposed to be used for something? That big boss enemy asset is really cool looking in VR, kudos on a great asset.

Not sure if it really felt like an escape room as much as a level in a hack and slash action game.

Developer

Thanks for playing

I did not explain the blocks well enough. You throw them at the big boss. Fighting him with the sword will be hard as he two shots you. Bosses drop the ooze to escape.

Ya I did not follow escape rule exactly. Last game jam for justin was my first and more of an escape room. I wanted to us AI for a game so just tried to do somthing with AI and escape room best I could.

I had a great time playing your game. It reminded me of call of duty zombies. Took me a few playthroughs to understand what to do but I had fun with each playthrough. I think I got the fastest time so far (2:30) can anyone beat it?

Developer(+1)

Thanks. Wow I have not gotten through that fast. I think 3 mins my best. I first had the game way too hard. Maybe too easy now haha. Ya I did not give enough info how to play I see now. I really wanted to try to make a VR clone of Vampire Survivors. Survive a time and win as enemies come at you. But this was best I could do in 72 hours as kept having AI problems.

I think the difficulty was perfect. It took me about 4 tries before I beat the game and got that score.

You never know how someone is going to play your game or if they will know what to do. For example, for my game there is a bookshelf with 2 books that are interactable while the rest are solid. Thinking about it now people will probably assume that all the books are solid and give up without checking all the books.

Good job !

I managed to finish in just 6 min 30 ! The Spiders model were great, and the large mutant turtle was equally scary and enormous. I discovered the "little melee system" asset thanks to you, and it seems to work well. Great job with the full body IK, I also uses Hurricane VR and I know that setting up the full body IK can be quite tricky !

I was confused about the cube of different colors, I didn't understand what they do, I just know that they deal damage if you throw them, a little hint would have been good.

For 72 hours you did great, AI, damage system and full body IK !

Developer

Thanks so much for playing. The cubes are confusing I see now. I should have just kept one color and maybe a dummy to hit at start to explain how damage is done. With a few more lines of info on how the 3 damage items work. The full body IK is integration with HVR and Final IK. I repainted the texture of the demo pilot for a firefighter game I am working on and will repaint again to look nicer in future,. Why player looks like firefighter haha. I didn't actually set up my own model yet. I have not found a model I like better than just redoing the texture on demo one.

Nice Game,
the first spider that crawled up on me from behind was pretty scary.

I liked the full body IK but unfortunately it was not quiet clear to me how get the ooze from the spiders and what to do with the colored blocks. Maybe a small demonstration intro would be a good idea.

I did slay a lot of spiders tho :D

Cool Concept and I love that Mutant Turtle !

Feel free to test my Game.

Developer (1 edit) (+2)

I will test yours.

SPOILER

The turtules drop the ooze. A teenage mutant ninja turtle reference. They are by the fires if can not see them.

The turtle will two shoot you even if at full help. Its legs only take 25% damage the head does. You can throw the blocks and they also deal damage. Going at the turtle with just the sword you will have a bad time. Grenades dont hurt them also.

Ah alright, yea I tried fighting the turtles with the sword and grenades xD

Great tips ! I will try to solve the rest of the Game.

Developer(+1)

My grenade is from this tutorial. Never used in a game and wanted to put in. But it just destroys objects so didn't want to add to boss or too easy to kill.
