This one was really fun.

Those poor wolves could never expect the death incarnace descending upon their homeland.  Everything about this game is just so satysfying, especially the sound effects. I love how a kid that got stranded in the woods doesn't mess around and just goes on the rampage, obliterating 5 wolves at a time, sending each of them flying to the air with a loud WHACK and all that before he even got an axe. The serious narrative combined with beat em up gameplay made the whole experience really fun.  I playe dthrough it again, this time blasting DOOM music, let's just say it fits.

Overall a really fun one.

Developer

Thanks for your time and feedback, I appreciate it. If you mean the DOOM Eternal OST, that's such a coincidence because I listened to that while making this, BFG Division in particular.

Good use of sound and the attacking mechanic felt great. Good work!

Thanks for all your time. You managed to play in the end?

Yeah got to the end ok.

Nice game. Attacking wolves was nice and wasn't too difficult. wood and stone/ metal were scattered around and the search and evade was a fun mechanic. At one point I had so many wolves going after me and attacked them all at once while going in circles. My health drained quite a lot then but not enough to make the game too annoying and difficult. Very fun overall with great artwork and UI! What engine did you use?

Developer

Thanks for your time and feedback. It was made with Click Team Fusion 2.5. If unfamiliar with this game engine, check out this video:

I just had 20+ wolves following me throughout the night and had a kung-fu fighting session with them lol. Would love to see some crafting element but based on the comments it looks like time fell short and that is understandable. Would love to see more development in this game.Good job!

Thanks for your time and feedback. Indeed, I had plans for building treehouses, campfires and bridges and even using the axe to collect wood from trees but I lost to time unfortunately. I intend to implement these things post jam as I really wanted to build both a crafting mechanic as well as a good combat system. Cheers.

Honestly punching those wolves felt really good, fighting the wolves was fun. I found it was a bit hard to find ressources at first but since the game is really short and there is not a lot to craft it make sense , for the audio, the rain sound was a bit repetitive at first but you don't really notice it when your playing, the wolves howl are a bit loud too but it's not a huge problem ! Finally I liked punching wolves even more once I got the axe !

Developer

Thanks for your time to play. Yes the audio is something I'm going to be focussing my learning as it's a big weak point of mine.

Damn Wolves! I really enjoyed this game and the scope for development is really quite vast. Not what I was expecting from you but not disappointed. It was a solid fun time experience. Kudos

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and I'm glad you enjoyed it. I had so many great ideas for crafting multiple base and equipment elements, but alas, time fell short. It's not a jam if there's no overscope.

I really liked playing this game. My favourite thing was at the start when I killed the first couple of wolves and I thought this game is gonna be a bit too easy; but then by the end of the five minutes I had a tiny sliver of health and barely survived lol. This game is really good and I really enjoyed playing it.

Developer

Thanks for taking the time to play, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Game jams are always a great way of establishing whether a game is too easy/difficult etc and can be tweaked. Cheers.

Those are a lot of wolfs! smashing hordes of them felt somewhat like the good old capcom beat'em'up, the little pause as the hit land and a bunch of them go flying; Fun game, very nice indeed.

Developer

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. That's a good observation - the Streets of Rage combat system was a big inspiration for this project.

The style is really pretty and I love the sounds in the game. I spent a lot of time button mashing my poor poor mouse. But I really loved this it was really well made great job.

Developer

Thanks for playing, appreciate it. Poor mouse.

I had a great time trying to survive the whole 5 minutes! it was terrifying when my match ran out while a dozen wolves chased me. Great job!
