Description
This is an electronic soundtrack for a farming simulator in outer space with stealth components. The tone of the game is dark humor with a little playfulness. All of the crops in the game produce some component that helps you fix your ship- electricity to metal to rocket fuel to weapons.

Each track has a description in its soundcloud, as well as an overview in the project. Generally, each world has an objective (some seeds) guarded by an enemy of some kind.

I made each track using Bosca Ceoil, a free DAW made by Terry Cavanagh.

Message from the artist:
On this cold planet, a lightbulb grows out of the ground. Here, the floating islands of the Sphinx hide the secrets of flight. Here, money really does grow on trees. Here, there be monsters...

Please enjoy a farming simulator set in outer space! And DON'T wake the Nestle King!

Panspermia (Πανσπερμία)
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
To me, panspermia means the spread of life across galaxies, so I made a soundtrack for a game all about celebrating strange life on other planets. I think admiring the spread of life is exactly what the theme should be about. The picture theme was a huge inspiration- I love farm sims, and nothing in most farming simulator games scratches the itch of space exploration. The deer standing in a field made me wonder what kind of flora and fauna would exist on a foreign planet, and the idea of electrical plants sprung from there.

Your musical sense of humor is great! Definitely a unique take on the idea.

- We need to tech the player how to play the game and plant stuff, how do we teach them? We need a tutorial.

- What about the crew?

That was some really cool dark humor <3. I really loved it, have tried using Bosca Ceoil b4, but never acomplished anything so this really blew my mind!

That Nestle king sure gave me a lil spook !

I liked the concept. It's obvious you put a lot of work in this, thinking of different levels etc. Love the idea of the Nestle King aha. The tracks are cool, I would say some of the mixes could use some re-balancing in volume. I felt the last track was the most cohesive composition-wise. Great work overall!

You nailed the early video game golden age vibe ! Congrats ! Everything is very catchy and unexpected, loved that !

I. Way to keep things glitchy. Your choice of instrumentation certainly brings us back to the Golden Age of handheld consoles, but with an unmistakable bass hit worthy of Dr. Dre. The melodies are simple and very much an homage to the genre. I have to try hard not to let nostalgia distract me here.


II. Some of the volume dynamics on the second track feel like Haydn's "Surprise Symphony". You may want to tone it down a bit in terms of Volume on the high end.

III. This is perhaps the least predictable of the compositions you submitted. It's exciting.

IV-V. Chromaticism adds texture to this. It's mismatched and jazzy. I'd have to play the Game for you to sell it.

VI-VII. This feels bass-heavy and dramatic, but I don't know what I'm supposed to be feeling here.

VIII. While the occasional dissonance creeps in, this is a very victorious-sounding, mellow loop. Achievement Unlocked.

IX. I am ready for the Boss.

X. Hurry!! The Lava's RISING.

XI. This is my favourite of these twelve. The pentatonics atop the mysterious chords are very Inspired. The deliberate dissonance is a bit heavy-handed, but I can see it working for a Dungeon. The sample ends it perfectly.

XII. You went full Josh Mancell on this one. I am READY to RACE.

Overall: a charming love letter for Games, inhibited only by its somewhat discordant compositional style.
