Description
TLDR: A spatial game, ripoff of "Silent Running" and "2001: A Space Odyssey"/"WALL·E". The music has some motives and a synth bass.

Genre: Electronic (?)

HW & SF:
- DAW: FL Studio
- Audio Interface: Onyx Producer 2.2
- Keyboard: Roland E-15

==========
= The Music =
==========
Each track represents one of the chapters of the game.
I've kept all tracks at 70 bpm and at a 5/4 measure (or kinda, it was hard to make it fell like it)

In order to give continuity,
- I have used a motive on the melody: I-V-IV or IV-V-I (Chapters 3 and 4 are quite heavy on it) which tries to emulate "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" without being a straight ripoff.
- Many themes have a synth bass doing semiquavers.

==========
= The Game =
==========
Inspired by "Silent Running" and "2001: A Space Odyssey"/"WALL·E".
You assume the role of a scientist and her investigation along space in a point and click game.

A group of astronauts/scientists are sent to space in order to create an ecosystem with those species that still remain on Earth and with those found along the journey.

==========
= The Plot =
==========
The game starts when one of the two onboard computers fails, despite the risk, they are notified to follow the mission from the Earth.

Chapter1 - The Investigation:
Follow the crew's daily routine.
- Receiving information from Earth.
- Going outside to nearby planets/celestial bodies in order to scan and get samples from them.
- Take care of the fauna/flora dound at The Dome.
- Sending back a report with findings and news.

Chapter2 - The Dome:
The relaxing part of the journey. Taking care of all species; fauna or flora that are kept inside the spaceship.

Chapter3 - Corrupted Data:
When sending a report you notice some of the data is corrupt/missing, the onboard computer notices your dedication on the matter... you are now an obstacle to the integrity of the mission, the rest of the crew are now longer on your side.

Chapter4 - Rogue Bits:
The onboard computer, which has tried to get rid of you since your findings, explains the situation as you are about to desactivate it.
The Earth has died, no plants, no animals, everything perished. Both onboard computers knew this but they had different ideas on the situation and how to handle it for the best of the mission.
- "Without Earth, what was the purpose of the mission?, there was no mission, the crew should know about this we cannot keep something so important from them".
- "Without Earth, the crew would panic and the mission would be over, the best way to ensure the succees of the mission is to not tell the crew".

Two computers and two view points. One destroyed the other and faked all transmissions with Earth to ensure the mission's succees.
But now you know the Earth is gone. Which point of view do you have? Do you destroy the computer and reveal the lie or keep the hoax for the best?

Thank you very much for dedicating your time to listening/reading my work <3

Theme

Panspermia (Πανσπερμία)
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
Panspermia (Πανσπερμία): The mission of the crew is to look for life across the universe. The russian bit... well... they are russian.

Picture theme: The picture is a description of The Dome, the place where the flora/fauna is kept. (Just search images of "Silent Running dome" to checkout my inspiration)

Track 2 felt very personal, I liked it. I think sometimes the melodies would benefit from some quantisation to make it more rythmically accurate. Rogue Bits was very catchy. Good job!

3rd movement was interesting... Keep it up, well done!

This was very creative! I like all the different ways you were able to use 5/4 to make the tracks really distinct from each other

I love the variation in mood in these! I'm also a really big sucker for extramusical effects within the music, like how in "Rogue Bits" you have two melodies speaking back and forth to each other while the revelation of "there are two computers with two opposite views" is shown. It's fun to listen to!

What a creative entry!

I really liked how different the 5/4 time signature felt.

Aww thank you <3

I anyway believe I didnt do the 5/4 right anyway, melodies (specially the first two themes) seem like a 4/4 with an extra silent beat. Later y tried doing 3/4+2/4 and I think it gave a better result.

Nevertheless, it was fun to play with it.

I love the depth of the story here! Each track is so unique, but keeping the tempo and time signature consistent across definitely adds cohesiveness.

I noticed on some of the tracks that the instruments didn't sound quantized (aligned with the beat, almost like rhythmic autotune.) This is a very effective way to make the final mix sound a lot better, but it is more than made up for by each track's uniqueness and lack of repetitiveness. Stellar job!

Thanks, I also had the problem with the out of tempo stuff on the previous jam. The problem would be that its me the one who plays, and... well... I aint that good at it (and the keyboard doesnt allow to play midi with its sounds, only with the default awful library).

Always, improving <3
