  • Hey there! Oh boy, this game has such an alluring visual style and design language for the characters and environment. I love the concept and the presentation, but I was a little bit disappointed that the gameplay was so simple and that the ending wasn't finished. I would have loved to see the ship rise into the atmosphere, or to learn a bit more about how our hero got into the predicament. A little more depth in gameplay would also have elevated this entry. Best of luck for future development! I can't wait to see what comes next.

Was that the Yoshi sound effect??

Great work on the visuals, looked really nice. For some reason the character would often get stuck moving to the right when using a controller... pretty sure it's not my controller doing that! Nice original idea, well done.

Haha yeah, that’s the placeholder sound i forgot to remove :D

Thank you for the feedbacks, especially the bug report, much appreciated!

I really like the art and the game is very sweet and relaxing.

Like others have said it would have been great to have had some kind of ending. Even if it's just the ship sprite moving up out of the screen, some nice sound and a lil screen shake/rumble or something would have done it for me :P

I think an additional note would be that it wasn't entirely clear to me what was a collidable surface and what wasn't. I didn't notice you could step on the trees or on the platforms up on the ship for a long while haha. I'm not entirely sure how that could be improved or even if it should as it may compromise the art style if e.g. outlines are added to some surfaces. But I thought it was worth mentioning at least.

I know time is super limited in a game jam but I just feel like it's better to receive at least some kind of constructive criticism on what could be better as I personally find that useful, so I hope it's not taken the wrong way at all haha :)

Love to read comments like this, feedback is always welcome here. This is a big part of why i do game jams :)

Thanks for playing our game!

Definitely a nice little arcade style game. The art is cute and the mechanics are simple, but challenging when chasing a higher score. Can definitely see why a controller is recommended though. It's too bad it isn't very thematic, but it was still a fun game.

I had a lot of fun with this game and the mechanic seems super solid and was a bit bumed when we didn't get to see the ship fly. I also am not exactly sure how it fits into the theme. Overall I really loved the gameplay, the character design was super cute and I had a lot of fun!

I really enjoyed the physics of the ropes. Truly amazing to see such things in gamejams. The game itself looks nice and I like the concept. Would be great to see how it would go with more time, as I really wanted to see that ship fly :) I don't see the theme in your game, but it is alright, as I think that it can only help you to help you figure out what to create and if you get diverted during the process, it is fine. the main thing is, that you created a game, and a nice one. Good job!

Glad you liked the rope physics, i almost had to cut them on the last day but it was worth it i think :D

Thank you for playing our game!

Pretty cool concept, really nice artstyle and music and the rope physics is very neat too.

Nice art style and cool gameplay!

Art is polished, game play is interesting. Question for the Devs - What was the connection to the theme of "One room"?

Developer

Thank you :)

The connection to the theme was somehow lost when we started changing the gameplay. We initially wanted to have you stuck in the one room and having to interact the birds from the inside of your room (and they would be your only window with the outside world).

The game feels great to play. Graphics look clean.

I loved the game, unfortunately we don't see the boat fly, but really nice concept though!

The game missing an ending seems to be a bummer for people playing the game, sorry about that! 😭

Here is what we wanted to happen, depending on your score:

  • 10+ (bad ending): the birds starts to lift off the building but only the roofs comes off and you get left behind
  • 20+ (normal ending): the birds lift the top of building with you on it
  • 40+ (good ending): the birds lift everything up, and you realise the building was way bigger and was in fact a full space ship, you fly off in the distance with your new bird friends

To be fair, please don’t take this into consideration when voting!

Brilliant XD

I need to agree with the other comments about wanting to see the boat fly. I was also very worried the boat would take off without me.

Developer

Hehe, sorry about the ending missing.

I wrote in a comment the ending we wanted to have for the game, even though we ran out of time. Of course it’s not something to take in consideration for the voting, but it might get some closure (sort of) for the people who hoped for a flight ending :)

No worries, that's just how Jams go sometimes. There is a lot of stuff we weren't able to add into our game that we wanted to as well. Our official lore is that anything missing was thrown out of a window in the ensuing chaos.

"We wanted to see it fly" :)

Nice concept though. Beautiful graphic style. Theme expression is pretty direct. But, everything looks pretty polished. It feels really enjoyable to play.

Good job!

Developer

Oh no, sorry we didn’t get to ship the endings 😂

Thank you for your kind comment!

Pretty chill game. Although that death sound definitely sounds familiar... :)

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Haha yeah, i totally forgot to replace the placeholder sound 😭

Neat little mellow platform game. Very pretty. It's a shame about not getting to finish the ending; I wanted to see it fly.

Developer

Thanks so much !

Developer

A note about our submission: I forgot to remove a placeholder sound (player death), which we didn’t create during the jam, sorry about that.
