One of the best games in this jam I've seen. Very polished. Very cool lighting system!! I don't need to get into gameplay because others have covered it well here, so I'll just way Excellent Job. I don't know if it needed the filter over the screen to look good though. But that's a small gripe. This game delivers!!

I’m blown away by the quality on this. It’s so well polished! I’d love to see this built out into a bigger project. The mechanics were pretty cool as well, using the neon glow to light the dark caves - the platforming was a little frustrating though, the really fast fall speed combined with the low visibility meant I took a LOT of damage just falling onto unseen hazards very often. A slower fall speed and maybe a double jump would make it feel a lot better imo.
Seriously, I can’t get over how well made this is. The UI/HUD, visuals, sound, the LIGHTING, everything is just so well done. As someone who just started gamedev recently it’s really inspiring to see the stuff people can create. Well done!
This was fantastic! I hope you do more with this, it really feels like an early version of something that I would definitely pay money for. I loved the mechanic of having your health, life, AND vision all be the same resource, it adds a level of tactical thought to what would ordinarily be pretty mundane decisions - I'll probably take some damage on traps getting to that big resource, after shooting to extract it will I have enough health left to get back out and get to the end? Ordinarily fire rate is the first thing I upgrade, but do I really want my itchy trigger finger spraying my health all over the walls? It was great!
I don't think I have any criticisms that you probably aren't already aware of and would have done something about had this not been done on a time crunch for a jam (enemies not being shot if they're too close, tough to shoot down from a ledge, UI design, that sort of thing), and quite honestly what you HAVE done as a single developer in a short time frame is pretty remarkable. I loved the weight of the character, the movement of the tail when jumping was on point. Congratulations, I hope you win!
Thank you for the kind words! It's really rewarding to hear that some people like the game so much :) I think with all the positive feedback I got I will make an actual game out of this. Motivation for my old projects was getting pretty low so it would be cool to work on something new. Especially an arcady game like this wich is playable from a very early stage and doesn't require multiple years of development while still not being playable^^ So thanks again for your feedback, it really means a lot to me (:
So, obviously, 5 stars for visuals and theme, but I found that it wasn't quite as fun as I'd hoped. A number of small things contributed to this: the slow movement speed, the low health count, the small size of hitboxes, the excessive screenshake and effects that had me just standing still waiting for them to wear off, the fast falling speed. It felt too punishing.
this game should win the jam. reminds me of the platformer ink but now the mechanic actually makes sense. This title goes above and beyond any reasonable expectation of what a game jam entry could be. Kudos to you!
The production quality in this as a jam game is insane. I love how you have to make your own lighting for the sake of navigation. Congrats on making this!
Very well elaborated game! Upgrade system for weapons and mutations for the character. An interesting concept making the ways for combat also the means for exploration. In addition, exploring the cave is very challenging! It is, indeed, atmospheric! The soundtrack makes the whole experience more immersive.
Suggestion: the game is difficult! A lot of times I've been dancing in the spikes. Also, I don't know how much this would diverge from the initial idea, but how about a bigger dim light around the character? It would slightly increase the vision field, making things a little bit easier for the player.
Overall, its a gorgeous game, but it can be a brutal experience for the begginers. Well done!
Expertly polished and executed. I did play the jam only version. Wish I could get farther but could only progress for a few minutes before dying repeatedly.
Game looks gorgeous, ui icons are on point, the wall slime is something I've seen repeatedly in the past though I love the inclusion of adding light sources to them.
Great job
