Your game is awesome, but really hard to play.

Really beautiful and well made game!

Just couldn't finish the last green section as I decided to spare my keyboard the sweat :P

I adore the artstyle, the dash effects and camshake. The music is also beautiful and I love how each track coresponds to the emotion on that level.

The player character design is especially cool ;)

It's great that level restart transitions after death are quick, but man, I'm pretty sure half the time playing I spent with a black screen ;)

Very beautiful to look at. I love the soul imprint that's left behind when the character jumps. The music is nice and atmospheric but needs expanding upon. Very difficult but I can't complain about that because so is our game ;-)

Check out Pixabots!

Ok let's do a big boy talk.

I enjoyed the game. I like difficult platformer games, and it is indeed one of those.

I can see you've been inspired heavily by celeste. Which is totally cool, I am on the same boat.

But, there are a few things which bothered me and prevented me from having the best experience,

Now, I allow myself to go extra hard on you because of the fact that I appreciate what you've created.

In terms of level design, there were some parts where I was like "Comon man". When building a room there is the question of "What is the story of the room?", what I want my player to do and feel. And sometimes you nailed it, sometimes not. (This is still a game which was made in a game jam so it's excellent)

For example, the final gauntlet with hope, there was a tough section where you then land on a block with wind on it. In celeste, since I talked about it before, you have some brief moments of pausing while holding to the wall to think and plan your route, see hazards etc.. but here you don't have that becuase it's a different mechanic.
This alone got me killed for like 10 times because I forgot about it. Your'e game isn't equiped for the more longish stages. That is fine. You just need to be aware of it.

In terms of coding and designing. You fall EXTREMELY fast. You need to limit the fall speed at some point so the player won't zoom down the whole stage in half a second.

I've had a fair amount of times where I went through a room, but since nothing stopped me - I just kept on moving without seeing and falling onto spikes.

Now, I feel like reminding you again that I liked this game. I had fun, and it was super well made for a jam. But those are some things you need to consider!

Thank you for that!

Well done!

Thank you very much for this review I know I still have much to learn about platformers especially since it is my first game jam. I noticed to late that the character was moving (running as well as falling) to fast which imo is one of the main thing that make the game very hard. It's definitely something I will improve in my next games ! Thank you again for playing

Great game

What can I say, the story, the art, the music.... everythang is good! It feels like a standalone expierence, sprinkled with  some hardcore platforming, but you don't even rage cause the mellow atmosphere with slow piano music chills you out. Making all this in one week is quite a feat!

Thank you so much for your comment, I'm really happy that you had a good experience playing my game

That was incredibly sweet and touching. The writing is lovely, and the platforming controls feel really nice to handle. I'm especially impressed with how well you did the walljump mechanic, that probably wasn't easy to get right. The graphics and music are really good as well.

Some parts of the game are really difficult and require some almost pixel-perfect movement. I managed to beat the game, but I could tell that some levels would be really frustrating for other players. I'd tone down on the spikes, especially in areas where their placement is designed to catch you if you dash a little too far or jump a little too high. I'd also increase the radius of Anger's explosion attack, I think it's a little too small given how fast you move.

Great job on the game. It's a really nice entry and I'm glad I came across it.

Developer

Thank you so much for your detailed review ! I'm glad you liked my game and even finished it despite the difficulty. It was my first game jam and I probably made it too hard since it wasn't supposed to be a rage game

I love the touching story and beautiful artwork! For me you have perfectly captured the mood of introspection itself, everything feels mysterious and uneasy as you proceed through the game. Additionally I really like how you've transformed the different emotions into their unique skills! The level design is super hard, so I was happy that I could watch the walkthrough video someone of your team posted in the comments below :) Great game, you did an awesome job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your comment a lot of the work was invested in the story which is quite a challenge for a jam game. I'm glad that you could see the end thanks to the walkthrough we were not sure it was a good idea so your feedback is really appreciated

Nice platformer, that complicated from the beginning. Maybe a shorter jump or wider corridors will be easier at the start.

The game has good mechanics and pretty cool atmosphere but the movement is hard to gauge . This might become less of a problem the more you play but from the start the game throws many hazards and forces you to go back to the start of the room making losing at the very end frustrating. If that's what you were going for then you succeeded. Otherwise, my recommendation would be to allow players to ease into the physics/mechanics by putting one or two hazards at a time to get the feel of it.  Still, it is a nice looking and sounding game.

The story was deep and interesting

U did a wonderful job at introducing the new mechanics!

Very fun game. You did a good job of introducing the new mechanics and I like how they were contextualized. The art is cute too.

I did manage to bug out the camera and softlock right at the end (?, after the climb with the double jump), which was a huge bummer, but otherwise I really liked this one, good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing ! I really struggled with the camera but I didn't have any bug while playtesting... so it's definitely something to improve

It's a fun Celeste clone, very hard like the actual game.  Would have liked to see a few original elements.
