Very cool game! Love the Aztec theme and the artwork. I ended up not really understanding how to play, but I tried! And I think there's a really cool gameplay loop here if I understood it better.

Developer

Thank you very much. I really loved the gameplay, the mechanic of cooking it's really simple, but it pushes people to check what is metlapilli, in fact it's just a cylindrical stone. You should drag that stone and push it against the beans. I've enjoyed your pronunciation of mexica words, very similar to actual sounds.
Select the beans as you did in the gameplay, then set them on the metatl, and drag the cylindrical stone over the seeds to make floor

I'll leave this video for you to show how actually metatl and metlapilli works.

Again, thank you for your video and your comments!

Takes a lot of time to play, so I think I'm not finishing it this time (maybe I'll try after the jam, but probably not in the start of October, as I have other stuff to do in that time. I think it was fun, but would have been more fun if there was less time.

I like that it let me choose between English and Spanish. I chose to play in Spanish since I was guessing, if it gave me those two languages maybe it was made by someone who felt more confident writing in that language. And maybe it was, but I saw two words ("skip" and "kitchen") appear in English in the Spanish version. Well, making a game in two languages in a short amount of time is tricky because whenever you change text in one langauge you have to go in and change it in the other one (I'd planned to have three languages in my game, but had to stick to just English because I was making changes to the script and I hadn't started with the langauge selection menu).

The music was a bit long. I guess with more variety that would have been less noticeable, but that drum playing all the time felt repetitive. The sound effects worked well though.

The art worked well for the type of game and for the setting. And there was also art on the cutscene at the start. Another nice thing about the cutscene: I could click after reading each sentence so I didn't need to read fast to be able to understand it, and if I didn't want to read anything I could just click the skip button.

I think I haven't seen other farming games in this jam so far, but it definitely has collectibles. "There and back" also seems to be there (since I didn't finish playing, I can't know what the plot ends with, but I'll assume there is some "back" at the end). And "in a song", I guess if it ends when that long song ends, then there's that too (and maybe the length of the song does depend on what the player does, but it doesn't say anywhere it can't do that). And making one game for several jams must have taken some thinking to fit all the themes.

I could write this comment in Spanish too, but I'm guessing you can understand it in English. If you reply, I don't really care which of those languages you write in.

I liked it, love gathering resources and making money with these games, to make more money and resources hehe :D

Loved the art style, but after a while it stays sort of the same and I stopped, but not before unlocking everything and making a few 100s a day :D

If you have the time, check out my game, thanks for the game :)

Developer

Thank you for playing.
I wanted to add more features, but it was hard to find time to insert them in game, anyway a simple check let me make an end on turn 32.  It is possible that you were pretty near the end when you reached the goals.
Thank you, again, for playing and comment.

And i have checked yours... i will write there.

Definitely not made during the jam, should be disqualified

Developer

And what makes you think that?

There are recommendations and permits of use explicit on the jam:

Allowed

  • General-purpose code, i.e. character controller, project template, menu functionality, AI library, etc.
  • What tools/engines can/should I use? Use anything you like! We recommend a proper game engine to save time - something like Unity, Godot, Defold, Unreal, etc

In game resources and mechanics:

Graphics are of poor quality.

Sound resources repeat over and over, and they are like 3 or 4 freely available, the only thing that takes some time was edit the music, and i just cutted a full song to make 2 loops.

The encoding was done using gdevelop which drastically reduces the time spent on engineering and mechanics and the mechanics are not so over-the-top.
If you pay attention, you will notice that the mechanics are practically identical, so creating a function and changing variables optimizes the processes and allows more variety just by changing a variable and a graphic.
This is how it is designed, there is no big science in it.

Last but no least, as soon as the jam is anounced you can think in your project what do you expect and which is your goal. The fact that you can think on ideas helps you round them as soon as you can start working on it.

Any good programmer knows that planning reduces time and costs.

I have no interest in convincing you, but if I wanted to make this point clear in case someone else has doubts.

Wish you success from now on.

I am very sorry, i saw the "submitted five days ago" message in your game's submission page and thought that was the time when it was last updated and thought the game was of too high quality to be made in three days.. But of course that is the time when submitted not last updated. Again i am sorry.

Developer

No need for apologies!
In fact, the comment that it couldn't have been made during the jam makes me believe that it has more quality than I though.
Have fun and I wish you success

incredibly good animation, but the gameplay is a little bit monotonous

Developer

I know it was hard to think in many mechanics considering the time we have to finish the game.
I was thinking on adding more features, like attending clients and decorating your cafe, but those should wait for later.

Thank you for your comment.
