The controls were great and the game is fun! Also the spooky atmosphere and constant sense of being watched helps a lot, great entry...

I love atmosphere of the game: trees with eyes and gloomy dark sky! Mechanic of the skying very well done – it very sensitive to player actions. I was surprised at start to hear the voice narration and then sounds during the game – this making great game even better.

But for me true horror and monster of this game – it’s rocks… they are killed me faster then any creature.

As others have said,
The ski controls were great!
The monster was a spooky boy!
My first run was spent speeding down the hill at light speed, so fun (but I didn't see the monster)
My second run was a little slower, and I really enjoyed it.
I was genuinely scared at times. He was right behind me!

This game turned out amazing! As others have said the ski controls were very impressive and after dying once from running into a tree too fast I was going very slow the second time around appreciating the eerie night time atmosphere as I carefully picked my way through the trees.

And then the monster!!! That gave me a proper spook and made me panic and speed down the hill. I really enjoyed it especially as someone who doesn't enjoy jumpscares it felt like the perfect level of spook! Felt like the beast of the forest was coming to get me.

Also really appreciated the narrated ski lift intro! Was a nice touch!

I did find this to be a very loose connection to theme as the skis just seemed more like they were breaking then they were decaying. I think if I could see the skis visually rotting away that would've been a better connect. Or if the aspen monster lore that was established by the narration was about the monster being a decayed part of the aspen or even that the decayed remains of skiers feeds the aspens.

Awesome work overall though really clean controls most skiing or such mini games and such I've tried out have felt very clunky to use.

This game is a hidden gem, I didn't see such a good ski controller before and it felt so good to use! It really felt like I was skiing

I even could do movement I usually do while I go on skiing in the mountains and that made me quite happy, till a monster started chasing me so I went full speed and that even felt the same as irl haha

I definitely got some good adrenaline at midnight from playing this, really good job!

The only downside I can think of is if you die the loading screen is painfully long, and trust me I hit way too many trees while trying to get off that mountain

Thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback! I agree that the death screen is too long, the sad truth is it isn't even a loading screen I just set an arbitrary value and didn't tune it properly lol

The game plays perfect, I died the first time, then learnt I can break! And damn, that things scared me. It was creepy enough that I was skying alone at night, that thing then chased me. At a certain point, I slowed down, maybe due to a hill or something, and IT CAUGHT UP to me. I could see it's tentacles to the left and right - don't know if you wanted this intentionally, but that and the fact that I just couldn't turn my head to see, was really scary! Well done on the atmosphere, got me good!

Glad you enjoyed it! My intention with not being able to see it was that at first, it comes from the front and that's your only chance to get a full view, after that you only get the noises it makes to let you know how close it is despite the fact it is right behind.

It really does feel like I'm skiing way too fast. Great opening cut scene to set the stage also. Very nice :)

Lol I increased the speed limiter right before publishing, i suppose it worked out

This is another 10/10 in my opinion. It's a phenomenal gameplay loop, I've only gone down the mountain once but I'm gonna go down every path. You somehow nailed the feel of skiing, it's got fantastic controls and physics, the visuals are perfect and the audio does an incredible job creating the atmosphere. Incredible work, I hope more people get around to playing it.

Developer

Thanks! I had a lot of fun working on the skiing character controller and hope to use it again

The atmosphere is spot on and sky box is nice... But the gameplay is amazing, it feels really good to just ski around and avoid obstacles, the sense of speed is really great done. I can see this mechanic has a lot of potential to have a whole game build around it.

The only thing to say about this is that some of the rocks are impossible to avoid and it feels frustrating sometimes since you have to start all again. Overall really fun!

Developer

Thanks! I was actually thinking the same thing, and might continue using the ski mechanic in a side project.
