Thanks so much for playing and for the kind words about the atmosphere! We’re thrilled the art and music hit the right notes for you.
Regarding the minigames, for the fishing you are spot on about the momentum. You aren't alone in that feeling, and we’re looking into ways to polish so it feels more responsive.
The radio was tricky to balance! We’ve made some tweaks to the visuals to help with clarity, but clearly we still have room to improve here. We don’t want the minigames to feel frustanting but just something to immerse more the player.
If you have any more recommendations, feel free to share. It means a lot to us that you enjoyed the overall experience!
The design of the creatures were top notch. I really liked the visual style although everything was too blurry or low resolution to me, would love to be able to see more in detail everything as it really looks very good. It was a very short experience but really enjoyable, I hope you guys continue working on other stuff, I see lots of potential on the style!
Having to use control key to slow and W at the same time can cause some issues on web games haha. Appart from that I can see the hard work on this, I am very impresed that you managed to get all of this done in just a week, even with multiple endings!
The art is very good, loved the UI and the effects/shaders and also the movement of the ship felt very well done. I played all the endings just because I was so immersed in the story and wanted to see what was going to happen. Really good game!
Amazing boomer shooter, reminds me a lot of the game SPRAWL which I loved. The only thing is that I would love to see the gun all the time and the double jump at times it did not work. But overall amazing work for a week I really loved the gunplay, is really well done, hope to see this game to have some more love in the future!
Thanks for your message! We truly tried to make everything that happens in the game diegetic and real so it would feel more immersive (though we had to give up on some of the tutorials, lol).
Yeah, the execution of the minigames definitely could have been better; this is common feedback we’ve received. For the scope of the game jam, we focused on telling the whole story, but it’s something we will work on!
As you said, we would love to add more time to the boat so it has more weight in the game and the ending hits harder. This is definitely something we’ll try to do in the future.
Really happy you liked it! The whole reason we create is for people to enjoy it.
Hello! Thank you for your amazing words and for spending so much time in such an elaborate message ❤️
From the gameplay perspective we agree that the fishing minigame could feel better. It was actually one of the first things we implemented and did not receive much love since then, but I think with a couple of adjustments we can make it feel better.
The awesome music was made by one of the team members, and all the music was created with the game narrative and tempo in mind so it could boost the overall experience. Thanks for appreciating it; the music in your game was superb too.
About the decay theme we tried to incoporare it in two areas (SPOILERS AHEAD). The boat which decays deeply as you progress and the whole reality which declines towards the last scene. We understand Cosmic Horror as such an horrendous force that destroys our idea of reality.
Thanks again!
I believe if you get this idea to make a longer game, lots of streamers will play it! The controls when locked were strange, why not just let the player move freely? In the end they can look wherever they want. The voice of the monster was disgusting (in a good way lol), and I liked it visually! Nice!
The perfomance was not good, in my laptop it could not run, I had to use my desktop. The visual style is good, the first scene with the sun and the church is powerful, I loved it. However I was a little lost in what I had to do, I was able to find the second painting after wandering around for a lot of time until I realized I had to go back.
This game will benefit a lot from a better design to guide the player, the theme seems really interesting! Also there is corner in the church that has no collider and you can clip through it lol
It took me a little to understand what to do but after that I was hooked in the gameplay loop, it was fun to move around, harvest and see the story develop. The controls, specially the tool switching is a little bit uncomfortable, I was fighting it all the time, maybe that part could benefit from a redesign.
Appart from that, very fun, nice entry!
Thanks for the feedback! We’re so happy the atmosphere and music resonated with you!
We agree that the minigames could benefit from a more developed loop to build up that sense of monotony before breaking it. This was our first time experimenting with a 2D/3D style, and our pixel artist is actually a programmer turned artist, so we’re really excited to keep exploring and improving it haha, I believe we have lots of room for improvement here.
Overall, we wanted to see how we worked together as a team and it seems like we’ve made something pretty cool. Thanks again for playing, we're so glad you enjoyed it!
The visuals are suuper good, it reminded me of the olds CRPG games. Together with the music it actually made me nostalgic of my childhood playing Sacred with my brother haha. If anything, the appearing animation of the tiles made me a little dizzy, I think the effect would actually work better if the camera was more zoomed out.
But amazing entry nonetheless!
