Sacabambaspis...

(+2)

It has seen some things...

(+6)

Homo sapiens? Here?

x4 Version

Host

haha what a twist! I wonder what would be weirder - if this scene is set in the future, or the past.

(+4)

I mistook the fossil theme as shells 😅

Host

This is fine and appropriate too :D

(+7)

Finally, I was able to participate. Little dinosaur skeleton and nautilus shell

Host

i was so excited to see you have posted, and I wasn't disappointed. This rocks.

(+4)

A low poly “3D” nautilus shell! This fossil washed up on the beach, what a lucky find!

Host

wow this shading is incredible.

Thank you! 🖤🤍

(+5)

A fossil of one of my favorite childhood dinosaurs, the Ankylosaurus!

I was imagining what a top down game about fossils would look like and I fell in love with the idea

I'm adding another submission based off a living fossil called the Wollemi Pine. I saw one in person and got inspired to draw it. I read that scientists matched the tree with fossils from the Cretaceous period (110 mya) so it's a pretty ancient tree.

(+2)

I always wanted to join this Art Jam so here is what I did of Kasane Teto (SynthV version)

(+3)

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesiosaurus

Thanks!

This piece was titled "Not Movin' But Still Groovin'" by OneBitBug.

Host

Are you submitting on their behalf? Did they give their permission?

I drew the piece, and OneBitBug gave it its name. Sorry, I guess I didn't word that properly in the original post.

(+1)

Yep this is DoinkieDoph’s artwork, I just provided a name for the piece.

Great work by the way, this guy is hilarious!

great name! :)

Host

Cool, thanks for your submission!

I had some extra fun with a bonus promo pic!

Host(+1)

I love this. It's a sick reference with an excellent execution.

thanks so much!! I had a blast with this jam :D

(+1)

I love these promo pics you make!

thank youuu! :D :D

(+4)

Take a break, pause your life and go dig up some fossils!

(3 edits) (+2)

Archaeoteryx is always the first fossil that comes to mind for me.

(+9)

I did a little concept art for “Fossil Park,” a fossil game for the Nokia! Featuring my 2 newest OCs, “Flora” and “Rex”! Do you have what it takes to brave the park and take care of your very own fossil pet?

wow. it’s practically a whole game! this is so good! ❤️

Thank you very much!

I made game concept art for this jam too, but yours is clearly more sophisticated :D great inspo!

That’s very kind, thank you!

Host

Wow, this really does go above and beyond. Well done!

Thank you so much Polyducks!!

Wow! Would love to see a gif version of this ♡\( ̄▽ ̄)/♡

I won’t post here but I did make a gif version on bluesky, thank you for the suggestion!

Straight up concept of the intro. Kudos!

Thank you!

(1 edit) (+2)

I'm going to go ahead and make an itchio item page for this project once I get home so folks can download these + the larger variants in one zip file if they want to.

EDIT: It took me all day to remember, but I did finally make the page in case anyone wants a convenient download link.

I couldn't come  up with a game with fossils in it, so I chose the oldest and most fossilized game I could think of.
(1 edit) (+4)

(Cutting it close for time but I got em :3)

Nokia Bug

Funny little bug floating in fluids for the Nokia Jam...

Adorable honestly. He doesn't know what he is yet.

(+2)

This was a really fun little experiment to try! :]

(+3)

couldn't think of a fossil, but im playing metroid rn so i did that

(+2)

I thought about making a game art where you play as a paleontologist, exploring and studying dinosaurs and ancient relics, where you have to search for fossils and figure out which species of dinosaur they belong to.

(+2)

Stretching the term fossil here, but  these are 2 fossils of a gpu and toy. The first NVIDIA gpu the GeForce 256 and SKANNERZ Commander! I plan on making a few actual fossils for the jam, but I had fun with these and practicing in general.

(+2)

Loved seeing everyone's submissions! I wanted to practice using more dithering in my artwork ( ´ ▽ ` )b

Yo! The presentation here is great. Gives me the impression like he's been searching for it for awhile.

Thanks!

Little goober preserved in the ground.

Silly grafiti tag. I dig it.

(+2)

Y'all like Nancy?

Host

This is such a fun obscure reference. I love your use of halftone for distance.

(+3)

I wanted to try and make something more textured and detailed than my last one, and I think I succeeded! Thank you for hosting this art jam; it's been quite fun tracking my pixel art growth through my entries.

Upscaled version for easier viewing:

(+4)

Very last minute submission, so sorry! I was so excited for the jam but got so busy with art market stuff, and then before I knew it a month flew by! Anyway, some kind of meganisoptera (griffinfly) here! (with a bonus background attempt haha...maybe i should've stuck to full screen?)

I've done several artworks in Flipnote Studio 3D (320x240p, 6 colours), but working in 1-bit at 96x65 really got me thinking! I'd love to try making more 1-bit art from here on out!

(2 edits) (+3)

Quest for the legendary snake fossil!

Was very uncomfortable with 1bit art when I started these but I think I’ve warmed up to it now :D

(5 edits) (+2)

Bigger versions that are more visible

Host(+1)

Wow you've managed to fit so much detail into these pieces. You're a natural!

Thanks so much, glad you liked it!

3rd time's the charm (hopefully?)
