Super neat mechanics, the use of the dices is great !  I think it'd be a good addition to have the seconds needed to pass through another door be visible not only when you approach the door itself, but as some sort of icon/number above the lock indicating the amount of time to unlock that path at all times ? Just to keep track of it. Oh and the art style is amazing too, huge fan of it !!

I’m glad you like my game. And thank you very much for your feedback, I will keep that in mind.

This was a really interesting game! I liked the risk/reward and luck-based mechanics with the dice, it definitely added a lot of strategy. My only issue is that it felt weird how a single small bubble could completely deplete your health given enough time, so a possible solution could be to have your O2 level increase by a little every couple seconds or so, and that could maybe even be an upgrade choice too. Just a suggestion though, in case you decide to continue this project outside the jam, (I don't mean to be a backseat game dev). Other than that it was really fun, and I thought the 3d transition effects were pretty cool too!

Developer

I’ll take note of that, thank you!

Very cool game, I love the art and the overall style/vibe. Also it would be cool to know how you setup the gameplay on the box, I'm guessing your projecting a viewport of a different scene. Anyways, good job :D

Developer

Thanks, I’m glad you like the game. The effect is created using multiple cameras and a mask. The mask is a mesh(in this case a box) where every side has a different shade of gray. A shader on top of everything makes sure to display the correct camera based on the shade of gray the mask is showing. It is a cool effect but the downside is that you are displaying multiple cameras all the time. Anyways, I hope this makes sense.

That makes sense, thanks for sharing :D

I enjoyed how much strategy you worked into the concept. Do I go straight for the exit, or collect more dice for next time? The rate you lose health after popping just one small bubble does make the difficulty curve a bit steep though, so it kind of feels like the more difficult rooms require perfection. I never got past the 100 second timer, but I had fun trying.

Developer

I’m glad you like it. If you are curious, the 100sec room is the last one, so you almost made it.

This game is really cool, the art is really stylized and makes the game very cohesive throughout, the music and audio fits the gameplay, and the level design was unique and challenging. I liked the sticky notes plastered on the side that were used as helpful hints and tutorials "Bubbles = bad" was a really silly one and I appreciated it.

The upgrades make the gameplay more dynamic as well and challenging. Great job!

Thanks!

Nice game. I am still confused about the premise (probably just a me problem, I'm rather dense) but it didn't prevent me from enjoying it. Only thing I didn't like is the fact you lose your upgrades between each run and that getting them is purely luck based. I'm very unlucky when it comes to dice rolls (getting a 8 with 5 dies for example), so this was just free frustration. Other than that, the movement with the little blob was very interesting and the way you have to progress is kinda cool. The bubbles causing constant and increasing (when you pop several) damage as it makes the air noxious is very cool. The difficulty of each room quickly gets kinda hardcore, which is very fun. But didn't play 'till the end room due to the upgrades reroll

I’m leaning a bit towards surrealism here, but if I continue developing the game I plan to expand on the story and hopefully things will be clearer. About the upgrade system, I have some ideas to make it less frustrating, unfortunately, this is what I was able to do with the time I had. Thank you for the feedback!

super cool game, love the style and the gameplay loop is real good, the randomness of the dice was a little frustrating at times (one time i got a 9 with 4 dice which sucked) but either way. Very good game, good job.

Thank you.

i played for about an hour. I liked how there was kind of a puzzly element to it; the progression direction isn't spelled out and I had to figure that out. The rotation mechanic is straight out of a bennet foddy frustration game haha. I upgraded that immediately every time. The artwork definitely has a unified theme, it's grisly and super good.

Thanks for the feedback!

Very funky little game, really enjoyed rolling the dice to determine the upgrades, felt way more dynamic and tense than just getting straight up stat boosts. I think it'd be nice if the prompt to press E to interact didn't come up with your tail resting on the interaction point, as that got pretty confusing until I figured out I had to have my head in the middle or on the wall. That said, love the funky music, the style is great, and it's a fun time!
