Post QA;

Nice camera, nice movement, although most seemed very rushed I’m surprised it’s polished and well stylized enough for it to be up as 2-week development game :D

Good work, I’ll be looking forward for more games from you :D Nice job on solo dev >:))

I like that I legit looked almost everywhere for the plank LMAO-

Great game, you really put a lot of time and effort into it and it shows! The models and texturing was amazing, the sounds used really helped get me into the game.  I also liked the main dude's hair bounce, I thought that had charm. The sinkhole animation at the end was awesome and I thought the implication of useless throw away workers being used for jobs like this was humorous.

The top down 3D look was also super nice. Combining items felt intuitive and even with getting lost around the world a bit it still gave me valuable info on where stuff was when I needed it later.

Fetching things was a bit tedious with only being able to collect them after learning of the use like the oars when finding the canoe or the boxes dropping only after finding the dark cave.

I also accidentally fell off the map, it seems there's a lack of invisible wall on the middle mountain after crossing the upper mountain with the 4 planks. I thought there might've been a path back there for some reason.

This was definitely fun. Gave me like a sort of top down zelda kind of feel to it and somehow brought back the feeling I get when playing older games on an NES. I have no idea what happened but I beat it haha. Great job. I can see this expanding into a really good game. I think just the overall puzzle design just needs a little improvement because it took me a bit to figure out how to get the ores and flashlight.

Horrendous flow/choices on some of the logic to click/learn about stuff.

I'm really glad to hear you had fun. I might someday use this prototype in a future game. I was told it was adjacent to a light-monkey island style game.

I could see making a sequel with a full story and some colorful characters in the future possibly.
Thank you for playing/feedback!

Wow, this is really good! The visuals are fantastic, and the gameplay felt great! It seems very polished in every aspect, great job on that! I was also stuck on how to get the batteries XD, so I guess one possible solution is to have the character point out that the animatronic needs batteries when you interact with it for the first time. Congrats on the entry! :D

"have the character point out that the animatronic needs batteries when you interact with it for the first time"

I assume you meant 'has' the batteries; but yes I 100% agree after seeing so much feedback.

I made an huge mistake of not allowing the game to be a little less logical to the main character's decision making, and more logical for the player. Which is great lesson to learn for this type of game in hindsight.

There are several times the main character has to "see/click" something else first; and I think it was a poor choice on my part.

Thank you for playing/feedback!

Its... actually kinda good! Im not surprised why most people got stuck (the animatronic has the batteries), im pretty sure it will only give you the batteries after you pick up the flashlight because I swear I interacted with it a lot before I got the flashlight and never got batteries. After that 10 minute hurdle, the game actually starts making sense and being fun! The scanner mechanic I didn't fully understand, I thought I had to change the verticality with like my mouse, but apprently you just need to move around until the cross is in the 0 meter mark and scan. The pick up range for items felt really small, and the UI sounds felt a little loud. That being said, the game looks good, and if it had more time to be tested or had clearer instructions it would be a really solid entry.

There are several things I make player unable to do until they've 'seen/click' something. Which imo was bad design without something to offset it like a comment relating to it's use later on.

And scanner was also just not well fleshed out enough to justify being in the game. I'm glad you were able to figure it out; it was unfairly not well made nor a great experience. I am very sorry! Hahaha.

Thank you for playing!

One comment is not enough to express how much fun this was. I LOVE the character animations, I LOVE the inventory screen, I LOVE that one left ore disguised as a right ore. I was having so much fun in fact, that I did not stop playing even after falling off a cliff into the endless abyss and having to start anew. 5/5.

Haha thank you; I think it's a great prototype. Glad to hear someone had fun and reached the end. Would love to polish a game like this someday and release a real experience that's less confuzzling. I was told it was similar to monkey island, but have never played it myself personally.

Not a bad concept but hard to really know what im supposed to be doing tbh

Developer

Yeah a bit of an old-school style game. Could of put a bit of modern guidance into it.
Thanks for playing it!

No sure what I was suppose to be doing in this game.  I spent 5 minutes on a nice stroll through the woods before I found something that I thought was the next step.  Then I got stuck with a flashlight with no battery and 1 oar, could not find the other one.  A little more guidance might be helpful because I really wanted to continue with this game.  The overall design of the game was nice and I liked the annoying animatronic at the beginning, it made me laugh.  On the scanner, it would be nice if it did not take up so much of the screen and the player could pull it out when it started beeping or something.  I hope you continue with this, I would like to see where it goes.

Developer

Appreciate all the positive feedback. Definitely not a great choice of an obscure point-and-click I feel for a game jam. Could use some modern guidance/polish.
I actually thought about putting multiple voiced birds near each area that creepily made comments to guide player.

I read some of the other comments which got me passed the flashlight puzzle.  Once I understood how you do puzzles I did not get stuck until using the scanner.  Adding a note in the scanner to push the scan button might be helpful for those like me that don't think things through well lol.  The scanner worked when I used it properly.  Glad to have finished the game, thank you.

I have to admit I got stuck right away and couldn't figure it out. Walked all over the map, but couldn't find the items needed to proceed. Hoped I could at least row the lake boat with a plank, but that wasn't it.

I liked the artstyle, the controls, the nicely done UI, and the rope shortcuts :).

Developer (1 edit)

The feedback is still appreciated. Thank you! The boat is fully coded, with some cool lake stuff too if people manage to solve the item puzzles! :D
