Hi jaogwal!,

Not sure if you checked your email, but you should have received one from itch/our jam. We have some prizes available for the jam participants, so make sure to claim a game key if you’d like one. Make sure to take a look and fill it as soon as possible!

Nice demo. I got the hang of it after a while, but I think having more clear instructions on what hazards and their sounds you need to watch for, and a clearer attenuation of when you pass the hazard, would be very helpful here in increasing sense of progression and feedback that you're doing well.

DeveloperSubmitted

Agreed. I think a better handling of the sound once you pass a hazard would be the easiest big time improvement.

Nice submission!

I really bathed in the soundscape with this one, and felt that the general design was a uniquely accessible take on endless runners. It can become quite challenging as the adaptive difficulty starts kicking in—especially when you can’t tell some of the frogs and birds apart!

For me it’s missing some juice that could give us more feedback: give me a controller rumble when I fail, play a cute bug-like sound when I succeed, ramp in some wind sounds to convey my speed, and maybe play with color to achieve a day-night cycle.

Overall, it’s a great start if you want to develop this concept further.

What is this color thing you speak of? Right now the game is at the tech demo stage. I do have ideas for progression but they are unlikely to happen unless I find a sound person who wants to give this some love. Controller rumble is currently broken for me and not an option until I figure it out again. Wind sounds for speed are there but get lost in the mix. Success sound is such a good and obvious idea that I'm almost embarrassed I didn't do it and hadn't thought of it until just now XD

Thanks for playing and commenting.

This was a fun experience, i could see this really evolve into something unique. I did manage to dodge some of the obstacles and the sounds were really nice. I may want to play this again at some time, it was really a nice vibe and something to just relax to. The music was also quite nice.

Congrats on the submission (even if its just an experiment). I really enjoyed the ambiance and all the different sound effects that gave the game a real aesthetic.

Also agree with others that there might be too many sounds at some points - I feel like when I first started the game there were a ton of different conflicting noises, and it wasn't until I stopped (30 or or so seconds in) where it became much more clear and easier to understand, so maybe there is a bug in the starting setup.

I love the minimalism in this game and the art (simple yet engaging). I tried to play with eyes closed and open, but I’m not really sure about the mechanics, the experience is a bit confusing. I’m still getting to this kind of games, so sorry ^^!

It´s a great entry. Maybe needs more polishing.

I've given this a go, and to be honest I just found myself, even as a totally blind person, slambing into hazards. Good first effort but needs more polish.

I love the ambience in the game. I love the feeling of being in forest and all the little critter I hear. I also really like the ambience you gave the forest in a visual way. It’s just there in a foggy way, like a foggy dawn of the day. It’s really nice and gentle.

But there are some things I’m still confused and frustrated with while playing. It’s very hard for me to understand where I’m at (if playing with eyes closed) and also with a lot of sounds, if I’m dodging them or not. I know that the fluttering of wings sound means I didn’t dodge it, but then why do I hear it when I thought for sure I was dodging things? The only plausible reason is that I wasn’t finding my way around and really understanding where sounds are coming from, or which sounds are ambient or not, or even how to control myself for dodging.

I think that a version where I control my speed would possibly help a little, so I could focus better and understand better my distance towards obstacles and starting learning may around the world.

Congrats on the game!
