Very enjoyable and morbid (in a good way)! I wish it was a little more zoomed out, but other than that, great job!
I think the zoomed in gives for more stress! (in a good way)
Love the little pig, and all of the artwork! The platforming feel and level design were very nicely done. For controller input I would personally suggest swaping the left and right bumper inputs with the left and right trigger inputs for a more "modern convention" input config. Fantastic entry, and my favourite animation in the jam so far is your little pig's "sit". XD
my cousin: So what purpose does sitting provide
me: Looking cute
my cousin: but like what gameplay fucntion
me: why does it need a gameplay fucntion?
Nice little platformer!
Pretty cool theme use with the food and happiness meters. I liked that it incentivized you to move quickly through the levels, and it makes each jump feel like it counts.Definitely makes the game feel tense, and like you're really dashing to escape.
An exploit I found: When you die, your misery doesn't get reset, so you can repeatedly eat high -misery food and die to farm up happiness, and then you can eat as many weird foods as you want without issue.
Also, I think an open door sprite would be helpful. I had a few instances where I got a key and tried to go to the door it opened, but couldn't remember exactly where it was and ended up getting lost and dying when I'm pretty sure I went past it once or twice. But besides that, I thought the visuals were very good!
Great job!
Keys open doors automatically without you going up to that door! I did exactly because I couldn't figure out how to make you *not* loose yhe key
It's a bit zoomed in for a platformer but other than that a solid go.
Would appreciate if you gave my game a rating too.
This was surprisingly fun. The controls feel nice and the concept is very creative. Nice work! If you have time, feel free to try my game too! 😊
Adding an audio cue for dire hunger would be helpful. My inventory was full of food, but I forgot to eat because I was exploring and died. The sprinting and jumping part of the platforming felt great! Good work!
Might add after jam
The pig is really cute! It is always good to play a plataformer :3
I don't know if it's intended, but I ate all my food and the screen became black and the game disapeared... 0_0"
Definitely not intended but a glitch too many have run into and I couldn't fix even when told about it back during play testing
sry for the late comment,,but i played this way back after u released it,,, i really liked the artstyle bcz this reminded me donkey kong country (old game),,, i used to play it as a kid back then so,, i loved ur game,,,, nice work ,,, and remember to feed ur pig :)/:0
!!
huh
Very crazy game, but also interesting.
I liked the art, it looks cute. The music, although not original, fits well for the game and the song changing when you become more paranoic is very cool 😁. Talking about that, I didn’t really understand how the misery bar works, I only know that the higher it gets, the crazier the screen looks.
The only downside I noted are the controls. I don’t know if it was a personal choice, but I don’t find it very comfortable to jump with space bar instead of W or up arrow, but that’s just my opinion. Also when you run towards the fences, sometimes you get inside of it, so maybe a little fix on the collision shape would solve the problem.
Overwall, the game is very cool, good job!
Hey, in level 3 it literally says "Don't get too close to the fence"(Being silly)
The art style is really nice, and I love the animations. Small details I've not seen before — like the visually shaking effect when you’re near the edge — is fantastic. I’m not entirely sure how I managed to jump so high even when double jumping onto the cloud! but it felt awesome and makes sense with the platform being something you can jump through while the other solid ones you can't.
The creative level design and the help you get while playing is very good. It’s challenging but fun, and it encourages exploration. One small suggestion would be to add a fullscreen option. Overall, a nice looking and enjoyable platformer.
I might in the future (add full screen)
Fun to play, a nice concept. I like the idea of food being needed. The clouds are a cool concept. Things that could be improved: The controls feel a bit haphazard (jumping and walking). The song became repetitive after the first minute.
Alright! Yeah that makes sense, I didn't really find any NCS song that both fit the vibes and wasn't repetitive
Loved this game! The pig and the artstyle is really cute and it definitely has a lot of exploring capability. It's nice that the levels were long cause I didn't wanna stop running and jumping everywhere lol
Thanks!!
YOOO I FINALLY FINISHED YOUR GAME, man speedrunning this game gave me so much fun and challenge aswell, the level design was on the "git gud" side but holy shit was it thought out.
and in coincidence im eating apples rn (hope it isnt a weird one!)
If it's not fleshy it's a normal apple
I loved the game, it was really good!!! Some levels were hard, but I powered through, lol. I really like the idea of the game and the misery and hunger bar. I also really liked the little animal farm reference whenever I died, it was a really nice touch especially as it relates to the theme!]
Only one thing I had to note is that sometimes when I tried to shift jump I would end up at a black screen and then I would have to reload the game. I'm not sure if I'm clicking the keys wrong or if there might be an issue on my end?
glad you enjoyed it <333
About shift, I think that's just an optimization error on my end, happens sometimes and sometimes not
The pig was very cute! I liked the platforming puzzles and exploration to find the keys though at times it felt a little mazey if that makes sense. I really liked the weird fruits and veggies I thought it was funny that the pig doesn't know better lol.
the idea is for it to feel mazey! The ending audio probably wasn't good at conveying it but they're scape tunnels, so its messy to not be easily followed
