This project was initially a prototype from two years ago for another game jam that I abandoned, but I decided to completely redo it after seeing its potential. In its basic form, it only did the basics and had very simple art; that is, a game loop of birth, eating, and flowering. I've attached the version from two years ago here. https://mrjogo.itch.io/verdant-beta

Honestly, I don't know what to say here, but I'll try to be concise. The game was completely remade, the spaghetti code was completely changed for uploading, all the assets were redrawn, the garden was added, as well as cloud saves with mobile support, login and registration, the herbarium (a plant guide), and buffs (helpful tools), in addition to many more plants. Rarities and levels were also added to the plants that the buffs level up.

This game is cool. The music slaps and I like the Herbolarium and the garden. Also, making the high-value food tiny might be fun, just imagine...
really good job. this was very fun. I don't know if it was glitching but I never got a battery or worm so I could not make two of the flowers. but it was a fun way to have a garden.
great job.
Hi, thank you so much for playing. Could you tell me more? Did you manage to see the astronaut helmet?
OK thank you. I thought you had to not hit it. now I got all the flowers.
What an incredibly soothing game! I kept playing just to see what kind of flower would bloom at the end, since you never know until the very last moment.
Do the flowers that bloom change based on your score? Or is it determined by the ratio of items you collected? If I'd known that information, I might have been able to control it and see even more varieties of flowers.
Hi haha, these bloom depending on what you take. If you take the necessary nutrients for any of them, a special one will grow. If you don't, you'll get a random one. More information is available at the herbalist shop. Thanks a lot for playing!
Game was fun, it's simple and at first made me think of a mobile game add (not in a bad way, just gameplay wise) but I think this simplicity is its strength, collecting different flowers was a cool idea too!
Edit : audio might be a bit too loud compared to sfx
Thank you very much bro, I will take your advice into account.
It's soothing to play, I could see this being a very popular mobile game with a bit more polish! Good job!!
Ty so much
Weirdly endearing. The garden soundtrack is great, what is it? I would love to listen to it out of game too! Art style reminds me of those 90s PC games, high density pixel art. The real time water decay is both cute and slightly stressful, I made a profile and got worried about my plants. But you can always sell them for a quick buck. I wasn't always sure what the underground icons/nutrients did but enjoyed being surprised by which flower I got. I think leveling up changes which plant you grow? I was getting dandelions, then after leveling up it switched to tulips. The growing itself is simple but the garden layer gives it legs.
Thank you so much for your comment! I'm glad you liked the 90s style; that was the intention with the pixel art. Regarding your questions, the flowers are somewhat random; some require specific recipes, and others appear based on luck. I'm glad you created your account; now you can play from anywhere, and your progress will be saved. As for the garden, besides giving some purpose to saving the plants, the implementation is that each plant has a buff that improves with levels (currently, only the rose has one x,d). Hi, I played your game — everything is really cool! I love the idea of the sprout and how it grows toward the sun.
About the debug version: yes, you can upload a new build — it doesn’t seem to be forbidden by the rules. A few participants have already done this. You just upload the fixed build on your game page.
I noticed you have a sound issue.
Overall, the game is really great — well done!
If it’s not too much trouble, could you check out and rate my game too?
Hi, u can tell me about the bug ?
Perhaps it was a quirk of my browser that caused the sound not to play. Or maybe an issue with the headphones — though other sounds were coming through just fine. Either way, everything is working perfectly for me now.
Ty, solved
This is super appealing concept for a game, and the execution is impressive! I like the stem mechanic; it feels very natural and smooth. (I kept getting too close to the top of the screen, and then I realized that I had to slow down the growth by moving sideways!) I wasn't sure what all the icons represented, so it required some trial-and-error to figure out what was harmful and what wasn't. Also the icons on the Garden screen were somewhat unclear to me; I didn't understand the benefit of clicking the hand and the bag of money.
I was very impressed by the depth of the game, including the buffs and the number of different plants to collect. I wasn't sure if I could intentionally grow specific flowers by collecting specific nutrients. That could be interesting, but it was also nice to be surprised by the results! Overall, very well done! Thanks for your detailed feedback. The hand icon is for moving plants and the bag icon is for selling them. The "level up" icon is for leveling up plants (which is used to level up buffs), but I see that I need to make it more intuitive.
Very relaxing game. I couldn't quite figure out out the garden aspect though.
Thanks for playing. The hand icon is for moving plants, and the bag icon is for selling them. The "level up" icon is for leveling up plants (which is used to level up upgrades), but I think I need to make it more intuitive.
