Game Description
After crash-landing on an alien planet, build up pressure by sealing thermal vents as you upgrade your slime to new heights!

How does your game tie into the theme?
You need to build pressure in the vents to give you enough momentum to blast off into the next level. Wildcard #1:The player launches their inner sentient core (pocket pal) to attack, before growing a new one, and some enemies having hovering "buddies" that allow them ranged attacks. Wildcard #2: The player seals vents through mitosis. Wildcard #3: The game is set on a frozen planet, and the primary "health bar" is actual a thermometer to indicate that the player is becoming too cold.

The animation work done here is really great, i can't state that enough. It's subtle and a few frames, but it looks great because of that!
Some really nice evolutions and choices to make with your upgrades too! As a serial skipper of instructions, i'll admit to not knowing i could shoot until the second level, but i enjoyed it alot! Gets hectic but feels managable as time goes on.

Nice work all!

Developer

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.

LOVE the crackly ground texture, LOVE the animation and LOVE the sound fx, I can't stop making the shooting sound. GJ!

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks! If you're making the shooting sound, you're practically there (I just went Bwe-oom into my mic then added some effects).

This had a very good difficulty curve to it with varied and interesting powerups. Definitely a cut above other similar entries in the jam.

Developer

Thanks for playing, and for your comments! We tried to get a good balance, and spent the better part of a day implementing and playtesting powerups, so I'm glad that people are enjoying them!

Really good entry, nice work getting the wildcards in! I liked how some of the upgrades felt unique, especially the virus one. The soundtrack was also surprisingly good.

I felt like some of the SFX were too loud though especially considering how many can play at the same time.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! We had a fun time brainstorming how to get them all to work together. I was rushing SFX in at the last minute, so unfortunately I didn't have time to really sit with everything and balance it properly.
BTW if you liked the soundtrack you can download it for free at https://www.danieljmcintoshcomposer.com/recordings-media
I'll check yours out here when I can!

LOVED IT. My only critique is that the game got really difficult really fast. I loved the idea of making a bullethell roguelite

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks! We were considering a few more intermediate levels, but cut them due to scoping concerns. Wanted to give the diehards at least one truly difficult level at the end. I'll check yours out when I get the chance!

I really enjoyed playing this! Seeing the little blob move around felt and looked amazing.

Definitely a great start to a story there.

Congrats!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing, and for your compliments! I'll check yours out in a bit.

This one almost didn't make the deadline! Good job on getting this done, it honestly came out pretty good. Fun to play, especially near the end, when the crystal enemies start ramping up in numbers. Cute graphics and music, and I appreciate the general effort that's been put here. Polish it up a bit more and you could have a good base for a full-on game here.

Developer

Thanks for your playing, and for your comments! I'll get to your game soon.
We were done a half hour before but had some submission problems :) Out of curiosity, which areas of the game do you feel need more polish?
If you like the music, you can download it free on my website: https://www.danieljmcintoshcomposer.com/recordings-media

Nice game, well made! Like the musics and sound effects! Good use of Wildcards! Solid entry.

Developer

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it, especially the SFX (I was nervous on those, not my forte). FYI if you like the soundtrack, you can download it for free on my website: https://www.danieljmcintoshcomposer.com/recordings-media
I'll try to play yours tomorrow!

This is really cool! I love the atmosphere, the soundtrack has lots of nice ambient bits, and the vent sprites are really neat! I got pretty far and saw the red crystal enemies, and was able to make some good progress by tanking a lot of the vents. Eventually I got bogged down and didn't have enough firepower to hold them off. Nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! If you got to the red crystal enemies, you got close to the end. Glad you enjoyed the soundtrack, just FYI you can download it for free on my website: https://www.danieljmcintoshcomposer.com/recordings-media
I'll try to play yours tomorrow!

Cool lore! The upgrades are really fun to play with, but I can't help but think how cool it would be if they combined (I'm talking about you, virus + bounce...). Anyway, nice art, too!

Developer

Thanks for your comments, and for playing! I'll try to check yours out tomorrow. Virus and bounce actually DO combine, just not the virus part. We had all sorts of fun upgrade ideas, but not enough time.
