Game description
This game is split in two parts. A prologue that introduces a sea turtle and the issues it faces in the ocean and <spoilers> a second an action part as the main game where the little turtle exercises retribution.

This game was initially submitted to Craftpix jam 2025-2 jam with the theme "cute but dangerous" and I fixed and tweaked it afterwards for the Game Off. Both jams overlapped and the game versions submitted to each jam were fully developed within the jam period.

Theme interpretation
I've been wanting to implement water physics and I had to tweak it so it would work and feel nice in an auto sidescrolling scenario. There are also waves of enemies. I wanted to do much more with the waves of enemies but I ran out of time.

I like the environmental theme, can tell you put a lot of work into the prologue hahah. It was a bit jarring when the movement handling changed so suddenly, I had to die a few times to figure out how the jump works. I like how you gave typical shoot em up gameplay some meaningful context, it added some nice extra depth to it. Prologue kind of reminded me of Finding Nemo

Very nice. The graphics are really well done, you can see a lot of work behind it.

The shot'm'up gameplay is classic but very satisfying to play!

I enjoyed running around eating jellyfish, and I liked that you bring attention to the use of the ocean as a trash dump.

I can't put my finger on what it was, but the controls felt a little loose or something.

The art and sound assets were very well done, and I thought the barrell physics worked well.

The addition of a leaderboard was a great idea as well, some people got insanely far!

Wow the payback scenario came unexpectedly and was very unique! I enjoyed playing this game. Great work!

The plot twist I can only summarise with quote “a surprise to be sure but a welcome one”. Whole game was very engaging however, prologue felt like “glued on”.

Developer

I had originally planned the prologue as a cutscenes to showcase some of the art but I ended up liking it very much and expanded it and made it interactive instead. I wanted to spend more time on the second part but I got some good feedback on that prologue so I tuned it a little bit more. Definitely they are “two” games.

The struggle is real :D

‘i love the emchanic so it stays but cold serve as separate game…’

The "plot twist" was very absurd and unexpected, in a good way. Loved the change of pace. Sound and aesthetics absolutely fitting for this.

Leaderboard is really cool in a game jam - didn't make it unfortunately. The revenge gameplay is unforgiving and nothing for old men like me :D

That prologue was great. Fun game to play and with amazing pixel art.

So unexpected and fun turtle revenge! Music is also fits the mood.

I like the wave effects that you added, it felt very ‘fluid’ when interacting with the surface.

Glad you liked it. I started with this tutorial and tweaked it here and there to make it fit in the auto-scrolling background using a pool of springs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXIRkou021U

I like cutscenes and visual effects here. It was surprising to see an eco-driven story turning into an escape mission, and then, out of nowhere, into Jetpack Joyride ¦3

Although I think that charming prologue, with so many different interactions and details, could be explored more in an expanded game, while the action-heavy second part feels somewhat detached and unnecessary.

But it was fun to see how you can stitch two things together, great job!

Developer

I’ve been having so much fun with the action part. I am looking for partners to make games together and expand the prologue into a broader exploration-based adventure game.
