Duck Hunter is a clasic game played on retro TVs using the retro tech of the Light Gun. Our game places you inside the TV, looking out and uses multiple effects to appear as an old game on an old console..s

took me a minute to understand what I was supposed to do, mainly because it immediately started without any instructions or a tutorial screen. I checked the description of the game and after that I got it!

The game is a cute subversion of duckhunt, having a literal switch of sides where you're looking from behind the bushes (love that you can literally see outside the game and see someone playing it during christmas haha)

I thought I got so many killed but I still won! music really slapped, did you make it?

The music/art was all made by our excellent collaborator Henyx

Awesome game! The twist of Duck Hunt except you play as the ducks is really well implemented! I do agree that being dropped right into the game does serve to confuse the player a little, especially since I think most players would automatically assume they are controlling the gun and reticle on the screen, but otherwise, this is a fantastic subversion that fits nicely into the theme. Great work!

The idea of playing as ducks trying to fly away is really interesting, but it took me a long time to understand that I was not controlling the gun. The ducks keep flying even if you do not press anything. I do not know how, but I won the first round and lost the second one. The visuals feel a bit dissonant, and I could not tell what was going on. Please add a tutorial and draw the background yourself.
Please check out and rate my game as well

We intentionally used a real life style for the background, outside the TV art along with the 3D gun to differentiate it from the pixilated duck environment.

I will try to reproduce the ducks flying issue but are you sure they were not triggered by the dog?  it patrols and randomly jumps out to scare the ducks into flight.  We definitely need some in game instructions for things like this.

Love the concept!! I never thought playing as the ducks would be so engaging XD

Hi! I played your game and wanted to share some feedback.

I really liked how you reimagined Duck Season, the game definitely has the vibe of classic games. The soundtrack is also excellent, it never gets boring and really adds to the atmosphere.

A couple of things that felt a bit off were the slightly intense post-processing, which can be a little distracting, and the game feels a bit short. I think it could be fun to increase the maximum number of ducks you can save.

Overall, the game left a very positive impression. Great work!

It's fun to play, it's interesting to see duck hunt from a different perspective.

Really clever twist to such a classic! Great job on this one!

I really like the core idea, a twist on an old duck game inside a Christmas living room, it feels cozy and fun to watch while playing.

What I liked
• The Christmas room in the background looks great, it gives a very warm holiday feeling
• The pixel ducks and the win or lose screens are very charming
• The music fits the vibe nicely, it feels like a classic game night

Thoughts and suggestions
• The realistic background and the very simple engine UI feel a bit disconnected for me, I think the game would look even stronger if the pause menu and buttons used the same pixel art style and colors as the rest of the game
• On my side the Pause button is only half visible and fullscreen does not scale perfectly, so the layout looks a bit broken in the browser
• When I open the pause menu I can still hear sounds and control the ducks, I can even tell them to fly, so it does not feel like a real pause

Overall I still enjoyed the idea a lot, with a bit more polish on the UI and pause behavior this could be a very cute and satisfying duck game :3

Slightly confusing, but fun once I realized. I got all the ducks killed and was all "good job me! just to get the roast turkey failure 🤦🏻 I did do better the next time though.

Very creative concept with the role reversal, the launch vector is a good mechanic. Giving more direct control of the ducks in flight would be nice.  I'd like to be able to nudge the ducks: maybe a click to the right scares it to the left sorta thing?

The chromatic aberration effect hurt my eyes. I'd suggest turning down a bit maybe?

Thanks for the fun and unique experience.

Definitly worthy of a toggle option.

Cool game!  I really like the twist to save the ducks, it would help to put the instruction text on the screen before you start though. At first I thought I was supposed to shoot the ducks o.o

Developer

Yes, I did not think I had time and ended up putting the description, controls and credits in the Itch page.

hahaha love this, you play as the guy behind the screen managing the games!
