  • Absolute insanity. 11/10 game. Your talents are either wasted or perfectly utilized in a jam like this. This was one hell of an experience. o7 (Seriously though, you need to make some kind of weird absurdist art piece or video games if you haven't already because you are WAY too talented. I'm convinced that you're a professional artist using an alt account because you have works in the MoMA or something like that. Welcome back to the jam. So happy to have you here.)
  • Incredibly ambitious making this an actual multiplayer experience with some world creation aspects. CUBE

How does your submission fit the jam's theme?
Its all about old media, videos and TV.

AOL meets MYST with some FromSoft sprinkled in? Sign me up. This was a super cool experience, and you perfectly pulled of the shared messaging system, player ghosts, and object placement! Well done. It will be super entertaining to watch this streamed live.

Such a cool concept! It took me a while to realise that the people following me up my construction were actually ghosts of myself from 5 minutes ago
(Yeah I put in a cheat path for the jump puzzle, no it definitely didn't take 20x longer than just doing the puzzle)

Really like the idea of async multiplayer, will check back later to see what's changed! Unfortunately the VHS filter did make all text unreadable for me lol but I was glad there was a setting to turn it off!

This is insanely impressive, well done

Hey, so don't know if this is the right place to say but figured I'd mention it. I booted up the game both this morning and just a half hour ago, and I didn't get any of the async stuff from other players, or even myself. Yesterday 2 friends of mine downloaded the game, and one managed to get the async but another didnt. Is there some sort of inconsistency with it?

Developer(+1)

Thanks for letting me know! I just check the server and it didnt reject any connection, so the issue is on the client side.

I just uploaded a new version of the game that will show an error code if something goes wrong during syncing, if you can, please test it. Thanks!

Just went ahead and downloaded+launched it, nothing synced in when I spawned in but no error message, but I got this one when trying to place an object:

ERROR: Add Object/Message Error 403: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01

Developer(+1)

that sucks, its possible that cloudflare thinks you are a bot. I made some changes on the server side so give it a try when you can

Apologies for the late reply; just tried again, still getting the same error.

Also, my friend got the new build, they were getting the same error, but they were also every now and then getting an "ERROR: 0:" without them doing anything.

On top of this, the other friend who was able to load the sync is still able to do so, so it seems somewhat inconsistent.

Developer(+1)

Ok, I updated the game again to add better error reporting so I can pinpoint this issue. tomorrow ill keep monitoring this. Thank you for the help!

Gotcha, I'll go ahead and test and edit this comment with what I find!

Error message I got was:  "ERROR: Add: HTTP 403"

Error message(s) my friend got were: "ERROR: Fetch: Connection lost", "ERROR: Add: Connection lost" and "ERROR: Add: HTTP 403"

The Fetch: Connection lost error was on spawn and on occasion, my friend said. Oddly enough I'm not getting this error.

I made several changes on the server side, turns out godot doesnt support ipv6, hopefully it should work now
