What a fun take on the theme! I really liked the whole vibe of the game. It's playful and sets up a sense of mystery at the same time. The only thing i found was that you can mask every line and still get an S rank so perhaps some mechanism to punish over masking would be good.
Overall, really enjoyed this one. Well done!
This is a really cool game! Only note I have is it basically allowing you to completely redacting everything with no point deduction because of that. Other then that its Awesome
Nice game! a very satisfying and simple loop. Sweet sfx and music choices. I enjoyed it :)
The game is oddly satisfying. I caught myself feeling way too comfortable [REDACTED] stuff for the state. Would happily come back and ██████████ more files like a good obedient citizen :D
Great idea and such a fun take on the theme.
No notes, love spook stuff! Nice work!
This was really well done - a nice take on the theme and quite a meditative experience for the most part - RESIST always....!!! the art was on point and, although I felt like the tape placement was a little high I managed. Thanks
The tutorial text could use better layout so that it doesn't jump up when the "press button to continue" prompt pops up. It's really cool that you were able to add a tutorial.
It'd also be nice to have text not reflow in the middle of showing more text.
The redaction tape felt a little low when I first started. I kept starting the redaction too high so I had to go over it twice. After a little bit, I adapted, but it'd probably help to put a virtual cursor with the height of the redaction to make it easier.
I experimented a bit more and it seems to mostly be a case of the shader warping the screen. If you did some reprojecting of the mouse cursor that might also help. (If you click the bottom point of a capital M it places the tape differently when it's on the top of the screen vs the bottom in the first screen after the tutorial.)
One thing I thought about while I was redacting is whether I should mark wide enough height wise to mask the bottom of a 'g' even when there wasn't one just to make it harder to decipher when someone reads it back. Not sure if you're detection is that strict, but something to think about.
The music fits pretty well with the feeling of the game. The timer sound was a good touch and it did make me speed up the last few to make it in time.
The shader does look a little wonky at certain resolutions like when it's embedded and not fullscreen (I'm using a 1440p screen). It looks good when fullscreen.
I like the detail on the documents and how they're written. It's good enough that I was immersed in the world.
Overall I like the direction you took the prompt in and executed it well. I'd play more if there was more.
I redacted everything they asked of me. Then in my weekly 1:1 my manager asked if I wanted to "comply" or "resist" and the resist button was too pretty not to click so now I'm out of a job >:(
I played with the CRT shader on MacOS (later saw you had warned about that in the description) and it made the text a little hard to read but it was worth it because it looked cool. I didn't notice the timer until I ran out of time on one of the levels, maybe it could be more visible?
On second play it looks like you can redact entire documents without penalty haha xD Maybe there should be a limited amount of ink or something?
I enjoyed the experience overall, the interactions felt good and the basic activity of reading and redacting is cool. A great interpretation of the theme!
Perfect use for the theme.
But I'm not really in the mood for reading recently, so this is kinda a niche game.
I would love to somehow unmask the word, maybe I'm missing something
Good work
Also, play our game if you can: Spectral Mask
That was the most creative idea I've seen so far, most people (like myself) go for literal masks, some go for masking the environment on a platformer, but this one is a unique idea. Good aesthetics and music. 5 stars on originality. Great job!
This is such a clever take on the theme! The design is top-notch and you really capture the feel of government bureaucracy and red tape perfectly through every document. I loved slowly uncovering of the corruption beneath it all.
I ended up choosing to resist in the end, even though I was leaning toward compliance (resistance seemed like certain death). But the ‘resist’ button was just too tempting - it looked too fun to press!
Super original and such a joy to read and play through. Kudos!
This is such a cool take on the theme, both in your mechanics and your story! And a lot of fun to play! Really good job :)
Quite the experience, Really enjoyed the style. thought the whole idea was really fun!
Fun and excellently minimalist! I liked the unraveling story and the meta-aspect of it. I think there could have been a bit more traps like words that fall into a similar pattern as those to be redacted but are to be left in. For example, names are almost always to be redacted when it would make sense to leave some in to trip the player up... and story wise, to set up a fall guy?
pretty cool take on the theme you got the feeling just right with the CRT
really cool game :)
