Fantastic job!

To be honest, I was unable to finish the game because I got stuck while trying to get from the dirt road to the highway. But I really liked the parts that I've seen. Visuals and sounds are just immaculate; they work perfectly to create a very naturalistic feeling of being in the car. I especially liked the raindrops on the glass and how the arms are rendered in 2D. The driving mechanic is very smooth and almost kind of mesmerizing, especially when you combine it with a beautiful music score and dim lighting, which requires you to constantly peer closely into the window. Perfect setup for a jumpscare, haha :)

Thank you for the game!

Absolutely one of my favorite driving games. Great work deserves a full rate

I did crash about five times, but once I got used to it, it was manageable! It captures the feel of driving a real car, and even someone like me who failed their driver's test could play it without too much trouble (well, not completely without trouble, but almost. I'm hopeless at driving!)

This game is very well put together and I'm a little surprised it doesn't have more ratings because it is really good, the sound design is immersive and simulates a rainy drive at night really well, the shaders really give the windshield that effect that you would get in real life when your windshield is drenched in rain and you can't see anything, the driving mechanics are also really smooth, it feels a lot better that it otherwise would have if you just used WASD, by using the mouse the steering doesn't feel all jolty and janky. besides the shaders, the game also looks really good with its mash up of pixel art , 3d models ,and beautiful environments. there is only one problem I had and it was with the driving mechanics, the truck doesn't accelerate fast enough to make breaking or slowing down at a all worth it or an intended-to-use mechanic, like every time I could see the game was trying to get me to break to get around a corner or something, I just wouldn't do it and it'd cut the corner as close as possible so I would have to deal with taking 20 seconds to get back up to 30 miles an hour. this is still a great game though and you did a fantastic job on it, bravo!

Thank you for your great comment!
I agree with you that corners could be better ,especially the first corner :/ Many of my friends that I made them play also complained about that one corner so much that they haven't seen highway.

Although controls threw me off at first, whole experience  really made me uneasy along with the creeping sound design and especially art style. Great submission overall!

Wow, this was such a great experience! It really felt like I was actually driving. And the atmosphere made it even scarier, especially with that statue behind me. You did an amazing job with this game!

Very good game! the graphics are cool and the controls worked great, the surprise driving interference was a riot!    nice  job!

Great experience! I loved the art, the controls felt intuitive even if it took a little to get used to them and overall a great atmosphere. The sfx was also good, I just wish there were volume controls as the game exploded in my ears when I first launched it, plus the music made everything else harder to hear. Overall the idea of the multi management, five nights at freddies type of game while driving is a neat idea.

My biggest gripe with the game is that once you crash you start all over again, luckily I completed it second try, but if I died again, I would've not bothered as the start is pretty slow once you do it a second time.

The visuals and design are great man! it reminds me of a game called XIII on the PS2, which I believe also has a PC version. The driving mechanics seem fine to me. The horror stuff are a lot of fun in andd similar but atmospheric way like the movie Drive and Taxi Driver. Thank you for sharing this!!!

Thank you for your great comment! Thank you for playing.

I think you got concept down nicely with the driving horror. It definitely has some potential to expand on making it more difficult for the player to keep their focus on driving while also distracting the player with external events. Obviously there is some polish needed to the game and for the player experience like control instructions or a clear ending point to the game. The driving itself felt pretty relaxing as I personally like driving games and to use the mouse to steer the wheel as opposed to the traditional AD keys plus a pixel hand to give player interaction feedback i felt was a nice creative touch that you definitely did a pretty good job on.

Developer

Thank you, I really like these thoughtful comments. I agree with you it needs some polishing and more content. I think the biggest issue is horror. It has a good aesthetic but a few elements to scare people.

Very cool concept and nice aesthetic of models and 2d sprites. The car controls threw me off a bit as turning the wheel 360 degrees doesn't result in a sharp turn, but instead a lack of turning at all. Although I understand it might have been done so that it's easier to keep camera on the road. I liked the radio speak giving tips and advice although I didn't understand the part about animals since none appeared in the end. The whole project felt rather unique andcomplete in the level of polish despite being only a demo.

I feel like depending on the length of the final game some sort of checkpoints or randomization would be a good idea as I crashed the car somewhere in the middle and had to replay half  the game with nothing new. It didn't bother me that much since i expected it to be short, but if it was longer and I were to re do 10 minutes it would feel really bad.

Best of luck on completing this game in full!

First of all really thank you for your honest comment. I am really happy to see someone who tried to play the full game and tried to get what the game gives.

- I am aware car controls are not the best. At first I was planning to do the wheel as you recommended but honestly I forgot while testing it because I was used to it and did not remember it after the I start to having comments. I am going to fix that as soon as I can.

- Animal part were actually supposed to be in the game just like humans appear on the road but on dirt. Unfortunately because dirt roads are small and collisions were not great there were a lot of bugs so I decided to remove it for the demo to avoid showing the buggy part of the game.

- And yeah, when I go for a full version of the game I will kinda use a checkpoint system. I want to have 3 or 4 nights like this 5-10 minute part and another 5-8 minutes of minigame sessions between nights. So after finishing every night or mini game check point will be saved.

Again thank you for your great comment I really need more people to play this game fully and comment the lacking and successful things the game did.

I'm glad to hear my feedback was well received ♥

I think either realistic car controls would work or stopping the wheel from rotating all the way around would help too, though it might be difficult to implement properly.

I fully understand keeping buggy and unfinished element out of the game, I think it was a good choice with how well the rest of the game feels, having one element that doesn't fully work would stick out and might ruin the experience.

That's good to hear about the checkpoints then, I hope I will see the finished game when it's done.

That was really interesting! I’m not the best driver, but it was such a fun experience!
It was quite funny - I spent some time just standing still, trying to steer and turning the radio on and off.
Please consider adding a small note or hint with the controls - that would really help!

The design and graphics are awesome, and the driving mechanics feel great once you get the hang of them. I do wish there was a short guide or tutorial before starting, though — it would make things a lot smoother. And the horror elements...gave me actual goosebumps. Definitely spooky!

Thank you for your nice comment. Actually in the game page there is a short video of gameplay and a short video of tutorial of tools inside the car. I didn't have enough time for a nice tutorial int he game.

Love the driving-in-the-night-while-raining feeling in this game. I prefer the traditional control system, though, with A and D to steer. Also, after a certain point, the screen just fade to black and I don't know if that's intended or should I restart the game or if that's the end? The sound still play, though.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback, well for controls I tried to try a new mechanic and yeah there are many bugs unfortunately I think you just past the barriers without stopping and drive through in the empty space.

Developer

Btw if you have short time to play the game you can look through the gameplay video on the game page.

Quite a neat control system but I must have missed something as driving down the road just faded to black and then I couldn't quit!

The concept of using 2D sprites in a 3D space is really interesting. I especially liked the mechanic of controlling the wheel with the mouse, it adds a cool layer of challenge and tension.

The game overall definitely gives off a strong sense of vulnerability, which works great for this kind of survival-adventure setup. Unique idea with solid atmosphere.
