Interesting concept but I wish it had done something more similar to the gorilla from the Selective Attention Test from Simons and Chabris (1991) than the jump scares. Once you're aware it's there it becomes obvious, but otherwise people don't notice and failing to first notice something unsettling is way creepier.
I really like the gameplay but I found the jumpscares a bit cheap. Maybe instead, you could introduce mechanics like false sheeps or glitches or mini games in between instead, so it doesn’t feel as static!
It was fun though, I actually got a pretty good accuracy rating haha! ^^
This Game Was Very Funny. I Think It Could Have Benefited From Some More Mechanics In The Sheep counting Portion, Like A Gold Sheep That Counts For 5 Points Or Something. Just Some More Mechanics To Introduce Since 10 Rounds Of Counting Can Get Repetitive. I Liked The Story Though, It Felt Like An SCP And The Art And Realistic Images Were Great.
Here's my playthrough of your game. It's at the 23:27 mark of this video.
Nice game, although it does get repetitive pretty quickly, soon the images start to cycle and they appear so often that the scare factor disappears quickly after the first few levels
The other aspects were not bat at all!
Counting the sheep was easy, but what kept me interested was the disturbing lore behind the game and the Shepherd. Excellent--but spooky--jam submission!
Great visual and sound design. I think the game isn't as scary as it's supposed to be, though, but overall, it's still enjoyable! Also, love the jingle sound that play when you start the game.
i liked the computer and the emails, they really add to the story and add immersion. the gameplay gets a bit stale, tho
I loved the interruptions to the gameplay loop that you built into the game to progress the story. I do wish there were more mechanics, but I can't judge too deeply over here given our game involved a relatively simple mechanic, too. Thanks for making and sharing—I had fun playing to completion :D
I was falling to sleep from sheep counting that those images start flashing. Game well made, simple but it works.
This game gave me 'meta' game vibes, and I thought the concept and aesthetic were cool. Counting sheep was oddly satisfying, and I was always wondering what photo would pop up next as they were definitely unnerving.
However, my main gripe was that I think the game droned on for longer than I felt it should have - and nothing particularly interesting happened during my play time, though the bits of lore I got was interesting. I did not finish the game - I got to about round 8 - and at this point the same pictures were cycling over and over again, the eerie vibe wore off, and I decided I had enough. Nice work though, would like to see the story streamlined a bit better as what is there is interesting.
Quite sheeptastic if I do say so myself.
Unique gameplay and cool story! Some of the pictures/jumpscares were pretty funny but some were actually quite frightening especially the glitches.
One of the best games I've played this jam, genuinely spooky at first but then just plain funny, then spooky again. My only note is that the music when counting sheep could be less repetitive? And I don't want to see any more of that purple fella
The game has a simple concept that is executed very well. The art and sound design are quite effective for a horror game. However, it could benefit from more variety in its visuals and in-game events to make the experience even creepier and less predictable.
P.S. If you get a chance, don't forget to check out my game too~
Maaaan what a cool game! I mean, it’s kinda weak on the “horror” side tbh, but I still had a lotta fun playin’ it. My English ain’t that good but I still got the gist of it. Props, dude
Cool aesthetics and vibes over all. Not spooky for me but was still cool over all. The "Mail Mother Fucker" made me laugh! 😂 Great submission!
I didn't understand anything, but okay)
That was a fun experience, got perfect 100% on 7 out 10 rounds. My only disappointment has I wish there would of been more "horror" images or they only showed less time. Just having the same images re-appear was not really scary, just "oh its that image again".
I loved the change to in game desktop and it being a program. Super cool sheep counting game
