Its weird man.
It's because they don't have too many restrictions on itch, just that it is labeled NSFW for people like me who don't want to see it. But for the people who do, they know where to go for it (itch), which brings more developers here. Also to comment on some of the other posts in this thread, you don't have to make NSFW games as your first indie game. You're not competing with big games, as most of the people who will be buying your game won't be playing AAA anyways.
It´s not that i fundamentally have something against nsfw in general. I only think the problem is/at least was that there was too much nsfw stuff on the main page, after opening the site. If stuff like that is shown me after i searched for it, that would be okay, but i don´t like being flooded with it without looking for it. And before someone mentions turning off nsfw, even without turning it off it shouldn´t be shown on the main page without me searching for it. And more often than not nsfw stuff was shown under "fresh" and "featured" games. Like it or not, but that only stopped after that payment stuff happened.
Once again, you don't need to turn it off. It's off by default. You need to turn it on (ha ha) to see any NSFW stuff. Please double-check your account settings.
(If seeing NSFW stuff is off in your settings and you're still seeing some, it's probably not marked as such by the creator; please report it.)
I never said that I don't want to see it at all. I just don't want it on the front page. And there it DID show up without looking for it. Censoring stuff is not what I want, though. But I want to be able to open itch without my son being able to see that stuff directly on the front page. I don't get why for some people there is only all or nothing. Isn't stuff like resident evil NSFW, too? Do I want to block that just because I don't want naked lady's on the front page? Horror games, gore, maybe? Where does NSFW begin or end?
