I played this game on stream: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2554754261?t=00h02m00s
Overall, the game was short but fun. My initial impressions were that I was getting used to the controls and got killed, so perhaps spawn the first villager further away from the player :)
Once I got the hang of the controls, it was fun to pick up the rocks to throw at the villagers. I did notice that right after the rock hit the villagers, they would be invulnerable for a period of time, so a second rock throw would not hurt them. I recommend having some color change or flashing to indicate that the villagers are invulnerable.
The boss fight was interesting, although the boss being stunned did not stop them from shooting the dark orb at me. I think stunning the boss should pause the dark orbs being spawned, otherwise it's a little odd.
I encountered a bug where after picking up the gold, I tried to put it down on the ground before talking to the boat person, but the gold dropped through the ground instead.
It was fun overall, and I'm glad I completed the game (on easy mode) :)
hey! thanks a lot for playing and streaming ....appreciate the feedback!
i enjoyed chatting with you while you were playing the game ....it was fun!
Hi there! Gave the game a try. It's cute with a simple premise. I played the browser version, didn't try the downloadable version.
It was a bit confusing at first, but I got the hang of how to play rather quickly. The one hit kill was confusing at first--I thought Power was health, not strength needed to pick up rocks. Once I understood how that mechanic worked, I did fine, except against the boss. He wrecked me each time ๐คฃ
Occasionally, I'd get a little bug when changing difficulty/swapping in and out of full screen where in order to move the camera, I had to hold down the left mouse button. Also, sometimes the camera would SPAAAAZZZZZZ out and I'd get discombobulated before it recovered.
If possible, please add controller support. I had to stop playing after about an hour, as my wrists cannot handle kb/m too well. Thankfully it was not a stressful game.
Sometimes the rocks would not be able to be picked up, even if i had the power, unless the camera was *just right* also, there were times where I couldn't find rocks or enemies. If possible, a minimap with enemy locations and rock locations would help tremendously.
Overall, there's a lot of great potential for this!
You can watch the VOD here. Starts at 13:42

hey! thanks a lot for playing and streaming ....appreciate the feedback!
I saw the VOD... and I was very happy to see you play with all that voiceover :D
You almost reached the boss 3-4 times and I was like waiting you will complete now ...but ya the mouse and the keyboard controls were troubling you ...could see that ....if I knew earlier that people prefer controller support, I would have easily added them ...will keep that in mind next time....sorry for troubling your wrist :(
ya the sounds are made by my son :) ...i made the game in approx 2 days ...it was just for the jam and my son...for fun ...my son still plays it since it has his voice :D
Two days? Wow! You got a lot done in such a short time! ๐๐๐
As for the wrist issues, that's a *me* thing. Low intensity games are a non-issue with keyboard/mouse. Fast action games, fps, I'm wrecked in 15 minuntes.
Still, it's a solid concept/starting point! Hope this keeps going/growing!
Another great game from feedbackquest - this game has some cool ideas, but is definitely showing the signs of being early in the dev process. It's a cool project, and I think if the developer focuses on giving the game something unique to engage players and makes the mechanics "feel" great, this could be something to keep an eye on!
Video review here:
hey! thanks a lot for playing and streaming ....appreciate the feedback u gave in the video ....tc!
Especially since I know that this was made in two days I think it turned out really well. Obviously various things are rough, but the core gameplay is fun and interesting.
I think there is def a fun concept here and that you did a great job building the foundation of a game. Keep up the good work.
Hey! thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback ....i'm glad you enjoyed playing it :)
This is an interesting game, and I think it has potential, but it's definitely rough right now.
The biggest thing is that this game needs a tutorial. Desperately. I almost gave up on it before I read the game entry page itself and saw the controls. Controls should never be only located on a description page or in a help section--always make sure they're up front and center for the player.
There's definitely something satisfying about smacking people down with a big rock, and I appreciated the fact that you could hit more than one enemy at once. They can be a little tricky to track down though, so maybe a mini-map with dots to help indicate where to go as far as enemies are would be nice. It's definitely awkward running around trying to figure out what and where to attack because you can't see anything.
Boss fight wise, either we need a tutorial on its abilities, or it's glitched. Both times I wasn't close to the boss, but as soon as I hit it with a rock I died soon after. I don't understand the mechanic that was going on, and I'm not sure if that was intended, but two attempts was enough for me.
I also want to note that while Twitch did not flag anything, YouTube did flag "525_Tension_Music" with a copyright notice. No action was going to be taken because it was allowed usage, but I figure that's important information for you to know.
My VOD with your game bookmarked for a timestamp is here:
Hey! thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback ....will try to incorporate the tutorial part ....
regarding the controls, about the game, objective, etc ...there is a "HELP" button below the mouse sensitivity that explains it....
regarding the BOSS, the boss spits dark energy (mentioned in the Help section) ...that is what killed you ....you need to dodge it while hitting him with the rock ....
regarding the "525_Tension_Music" music, I got it from Pixabay and have credited the creator.... but ya thanks for letting me know....
appreciate for playing and streaming my game and for the detailed feedback :) loved your gameplay :)
For what it's worth, when I see a "help" section, I immediately think it's for contacting someone if a thing breaks. Not game play information. Consider renaming it to "Monsterpedia" or "Game Mechanics", etc.
Hello! Welcome to Feedback Quest 8! My name's Hythrain, a co-host and one of the streamers for this event! This feedback is being written live as I stream your game! If you're interested in seeing my live reaction, let me know and I can send you a link to the VOD once it's posted to YouTube!
So my normal approach for any game in these events is simple: I get the game, make sure it's not a virus, then play it with as little information on how to play as possible. This way, I can judge how intuitively someone can figure out the game. Only if it's obvious that I need to read more will I do so. I note this so you can get a sense where some of these feedback comes from. In addition, I want to note that feedback and rating are different; don't use this feedback to gauge what I'll rate, nor should you view my rating as entirely indicative of my feedback.
Okay, so... that was an experience. I'm unsure if it was a good one or not, but it was one. Nah, I joke, it was fun.
So while I was able to figure out how to move around, run and jump, figuring out how to fight off enemies turned out to not be immediately obvious. It wasn't until I checked the Help and saw that you had to pick up rocks that I was able to figure out. I think the easiest way to solve this problem is to always spawn the player right beside a rock, and always have something telling to player to pick up said rock. That way, they'll pick it up, see their power lower and realize there's a use for the rock.
The game's visuals are on the basic side but they're charming in their own way, so there's not much I can say there. One thing I noticed was that the game was incredibly quiet; I had to turn my sound up a lot to be able to hear it. Having the default volume a bit higher would be a good idea.
As for the gameplay, while it felt challenging when I didn't know what I was doing, that changed once I knew to grab the rocks. Enemies get stunned for a while to the point where I can easily grab the rock I used and then position myself to throw it again the moment the enemy can be hit again. The boss, however, felt like a more fun challenge as he would often break out of stun very quickly, forcing me to run away and either find another rock or lead him around until I got back to the rock I was out.
With all that said, I encountered a strange bug with moving the camera. When I had a spam bot in my stream chat, I broke full screen to go delete the message. Yet when I returned to full screen, my mouse would no longer stay in the game. On top of that, the camera would turn at half the rate of the mouse moving and stopped when I hit the edges of my screen. This, in turn, limited how I could turn the camera. It wasn't until I got to the ending that my cursor bound back into the game and I had proper movement again. Just something worth checking.
Also, because the voice for all vocal effects was the same and because every enemy killed would result in a "Yes," my stream considers it canon that all of the people I was murdering with rocks were shouting "Yes!" when I killed them. They were joyous to be leaving this mortal existence. I hope you're happy with yourself. :P
That's all for me! Keep up the great work!
Hey! thanks a lot for playing and for the detailed feedback ....i saw the stream on twitch ....i was so happy that you enjoyed playing the game ....
The sounds in the game are made by my son ....for both player and enemies, so all sound similar :) .... actually the enemy says "ouch" and "oii" and player says "yes" ....but you are right, it all mixes up in the game.
I really liked this feedback - "always spawn the player right beside a rock, and always have something telling to player to pick up said rock." ....i'll implement it.
Regarding sound, few complained that it was too loud, for many of my games, when using headsets, so from that time i keep it little low at 50% ....and didn't hear any complains till now ...after your feedback now, i think i should keep it at 75% then .....
thanks again :)
What you could do is put in volume controls so players can adjust it themselves. :)
that is a good idea ...thanks!
First playthrough, a dude wants gold for me to get in his boat and I can't find gold anywhere... clicked the "help" button... OHHH I gotta beat all the hostile island creatures. Then BAM boss fight, I got my gold, and I'm off the island! Loved the animated scene at the end, the music really set the vibe, and the sfx are great imo. Fun game! One thing I'd say could be improved is the artwork. The island feels very empty and there isn't much to explore, but overall a fun atmosphere, I enjoyed it.
Hey! thanks a lot for playing ...I'm glad you liked it :)
Hey there! I tried to download this game, but it seems there's no files in the download section!
Hey! thanks for checking ....you can play the game in the browser itself .....for downloading, I have kept a min $5 USD for all my games, because I have seen people download my other games and host it somewhere else....sorry for the inconvenience.
It's weird then, as Itch tells me I'm supposed to be able to download it.
that's weird because I can play it in the browser and I saw many others already played and streamed it ....let me know if you are still facing the issue and then I can make the downloadable version available for free, for sometime, so that you can download it ....
Thanks for the invite! I have tried it, it's quite fun! Though in the beginning the spawn instant death had me wondering if I should keep playing. lol I didn't defeat the boss yet on first try but it feels very doable if I get back to it. I second squigalug's feedback on all the things to tweak. This core game is a success.
Hey! Thanks for playing "Lost In The Wild" ...nice gameplay :) ....you almost reached the end, only the BOSS was in the way ...btw the BOSS spits dark energy that hit you in the end....it makes the "swoosshhh" sound and moves towards you....hope to see you complete the game in future streams :) ....Subscribed! and thanks again :)
When I first saw Lost in the Wild's game world I didn't expect too much, but after a few minutes of play I was pleasantly surprised. The "core" game loop is quite a fun little one. Gather speed, use that to gain power and then find rocks and take out the tribe. Obviously the sound effects are spot on too.
Not sure how the "engaging" with a tribe worked - as it seems you have to kill them to progress. Here's my feedback on what I would work on next if I was making this game.
+ Ensure no tribes people near player at start of game to avoid instant attack\death.
+ Add HUD item showing how many tribes people remain.
+ Maybe add health rather than instant death - also add health to HUD.
+ Add controller support, should suit it well.
Keep up the good work.
hey! thanks for playing and for the feedback....appreciate it!
