While I do like the instrument choices, I think the composition is way too random : the main lead seem to be in a totally different tempo than the rest of the composition, and the whole chord progression lacks a direction.
The sound design is really aggressive both in timbre and volume, really lacks reverb for a track that's supposed to be ambient.
I did lack the section when the drums came in. Really meshed well with your ecological disaster scenario !
Just work on making your track more coherent, work on smoother transitions and I'm sure the track could be amazing ! Much support
PS : I hate soundcloud autoplay. Transitioning from an ambient track at full volume to Rage Against the Machine was not good for my ear drums lmfao
Interesting take for sure, matches the theme, however is a bit too far from ambient side of things to my liking. Idk maybe if u just gave a bit of space to the intstruments u got upfront (drums etc) via reverbs/delays etc it could breather better. Still verygj tho.
I liked this one a good bit.
I'd say much of it would have benefitted from being wetter, but I definitely just solidly enjoyed it. Great work! :)
Thank you very much!
Really enjoyed the submission, I think it would have benefited from a slower pace and lower tone(mostly on the first track), but mixing and composition are on spot, barely noticed the switch between tracks flawless transition id say!
Good job! Take care :)
Thank you very much!
very cool and unique entry here mockingbird. I really dug the vibes and was thinking exactly what squirrel said about mad scientist vibes, definitely makes sense for a kind of ominous or unexplored frozen world so you've definitely hit your vision. Actually track 2 it's reminding me of the alex rider gameboy advance game haha. I would say overall the elements felt a bit disparate to me, not necessarily part of the same whole, which maybe is a mixing thing or instrumentation or composition? Maybe would've liked that a bit more but still a cool set of tracks well done!
Thank you very much!!
This isn't a bad track at all, theres a bit of randomness to the actual notation that makes the melodies and composition seem a but uneasy and unstructured, not quite like just random notes are being pressed but more so like the tracks sort of just becomes pads and atmos around those tones and not quite the other way around. Typically with creating ambience / ambient music the primary foot forward should be that space and atmosphere, things like melodies, motifs, even traditional composition sequencing aren't really at the front.
The way track 1 plays directly into track 2 is perfect, really great cut there and the mixing is consistent between both tracks. The only thing I do notice is there's really nothing in the higher range of dynamics here, which makes the track seem so much more darker and industrial than the reference picture provided.
Pretty good pieces, good work.
Thank you very much!
You definitely got that feeling of awe and wonder nailed here. It fitted your description quite well with the scientific exploration.
Can’t really say if the sporadic nature was planned by utilizing tuples/polyrhythms or if it is just played in that way. Nonetheless it is certainly an interesting element that also kind of gives it that unsure explorative feeling.
Only gripe so fare for me would be that I’m missing some high-end sparkle or some sounds that would convey me that icy feeling a bit more. But like Alex (the jams host) also mentioned for the theme, it should be used for the overall vibe and doesn’t have to fit with oceanic theming and what not. But it would have made it just that bit better for me.
Thanks so much for such a detailed review, appreciate it!
Very interesting piece you have here! Good use of instruments to create the vibe. I can certainly see scientist working in the ice here.
Thank you very much!
